    Bought the exact same Excursion about a month ago. Dealer drove it to me, parked it and within a week, she stopped. Engine clicks, lights malfunctioning...guy helped jump it but to no avail. Consuming mass amounts of info. Thanks 4 this bro

      Had the same issue on the second day of owning mine...Turned out that the second key they gave me had a bad chip. Figured it out on accident. Hope yours is running now...What was the issue?

    Two comments;
    Ford Motor Company started switching to metric bolts in 1980. By 1985 all new Ford cars and trucks had metric bolts. Using an SAE wrench or socket will slip on bolts on Ford autos built after 1985.
    When having starter issues, always check the cable ends at the starter, especially when you are replacing a starter. Factory starter harnesses have shrink tubing over the joint between the terminal end and cable. Over time moisture and minerals creep up the terminal and corrode the connection. Often times it acts like a low batter or false start. You can stripe back the heat shrink and if you see any white or green corrosion powder, cut off the terminal and stripe back a small portion of wire until you see clean copper wire and solder a new terminal end and heat shrink the connection. It's an inexpensive fix and often times the cause of starter type problems and much easier to deal with.

    Welp, my 2001 is on its 2nd starter since I bought it over a hear ago... They say they eat these things, but I'm now wise enough to keep a spare and my tool box in the back among half the other odds and ends that go awry regularly, thankfully she's big enough none of it is in the way 😄. Anyhow, thanks for the vid, I had help with the previous, used this video to refresh and tackled it in under 30 minutes. Of course the battery was dead, but we'll come back to her tomorrow and she of she's wanting to start. Big appreciate!!

    Thanks for video! Doing this same thing today in the snow in the PNW. Starter came out pretty easy, got the Napa reman as it was highly rated and comes with roadside assistance yay! Appears like yours was the V10 6.8L, same as mine. Cold, wet weather does a number on all vehicles. Inspect ALL electrical connections for corrosion/rust/oxidation.

    How much do you think this would cost at a shop to repair?

    Mine looks very similar in color lol. I almost positive my starter is the problem now.
