@Stultusnauta one of the guilds I was in had similar experience (random dude actually tried to harass pretty much the majority of the guild every time they chilled out in Divinity's Reach, although I wasn't present there at time) but after a week of continuous reporting or so Anet finally took some action. Also saw a lot of spam in PvP lobby back in the day (offers of legendaries and carries for real money from throwaway accounts, reported all of them but don't think it helped).
Personally though I think that if the game have adult maturity rating and decent block/filter system, it is perfectly fine to leave dealing with such stuff to the players. I would much rather have moderators paying more attention to doxing, scams, spam and the stuff described in the video, really.
They definitely don't care about botting (or at least lack resources to combat it). There was a lot of incredibly obvious botting going on during the festival in the Crown Pavilion. Someone actually admitted to me in chat that they were currently having 5 different characters standing in the same place and farming for them. I reported it, but I saw the same characters again 2 days later...

I just started getting into PvP and WvW specifically and I've been having fun win or lose. But after hearing what you've told us here and knowing this is happening in the back of my mind while playing; the whole thing now feels a little cheap, demotivating, and far less important to me.
I'm glad Anet announces Legendary Amulet via Return Achievements. I can say goodbye to pvp for good.
I'm still crying that i lost the season 2 and 3 free episodes ;/ I have all from season 4 and 5, so... F...

remove all prestige titles and then make them only wearable while you hold that position on the leaderboard, so that would make gaming the system irrelevant because you'd never OWN the title, you'd need to constantly compete and be above the minimum games and not have decay to show people your title.
what if they decide to be professional wintraders, like EVERY match is wintraded or queued during unholy hours?
@@corrinlex1359 then they get nothing out of it? most of these people dont enjoy wintrading, they just do it one season so they can permanently have the clout that allows them to be accepted into teams.
If they are perma wintrading thats gonna be a lot harder for them to do especially with many others competing for it constantly.
A lot of former people no longer compete for it since they already have it, making the competition nonexistant.
Great idea what about the fact that you have 2 maybe 3 accounts on the top 250 killing the fairness of others getting the title. Not just you but ay least 10 other people do it so that's 20 slots used up for just a select few people.
day 1 player here. i used to spvp all the time but i havent been back to that gamemode for over 2 years now because of the reasons you state ,although i play pve/wvw everyday. spvp is an utter clown fiesta. exploiters need to be dealt with.
This is great to hear and a big problem that needs to be addressed!!!! But for me it to late. Win trading been a problem for 15+ seasons at least. All i do in gw2 is pvp. I used to play 2-4 hours a night. Now i play one game a week at most. When there is win trading and multipule top tier people having multiple accounts in the top 250 it defeats the purpose of the ladder. So why play ranked pvp?

Can confirm. I don't play PVP but just hearing about it from a ton of people stops me from even considering it.
In NA the top player did 95% win on the first weeks, thats just impossble considering the amount of factors that win or lose a match
spvp IS a meme. GodOfpvp title has ZERO credibility. wearing it actually means you should be banned.
WoodenPotatoes did a video a couple of months ago when he followed a hacker in an AT. He had to purposfully type offensive trigger words in that chat to get anet's attention or nothing would have been done. If WoodenPotatoes can't get Anet to look at PvP exploits, I'll be shocked if this video will.

Meanwhile, I'm a low rank scrub who doesn't know proper pvp tactics or builds whatsoever, but I do like the prospect of track rewards.
I just don't like pvp, because I'm bad at it and I don't know what I'm doing 90% of the time... all this wintrading stuff is going way over my head, but it still sounds important
It's actually not your fault it's the games in all seriousness. Pvp is a joke because the way match making and de-ranking works for example. I used to be plat and play semi pro. I have played against Team America and high end players even phantasam, holts, grim, and others. I went down to gold not because I was not good or I didn't have multiple wins on record 1 loss tossed me into gold tier 1 because on our team we had 2 silver 1bronze so we lost the rando match. That's not good game design when you have such huge gapes in skill of players being put into a lobby with such low rank newish teams so you literally have to have a friend just to make the odds a little bit more favorable to win ranked match making it's just bad.
MT you are wrong about botting not being a big issue, botting is a HUGE problem in Bronze/Silver. In a typical 10 player match I can count on having 3-4 bots a match and that's on a good day. I've had matches where I was the only non-bot human in there. And with bots you're almost guaranteed to have the game snowball with no reprieve and you are stuck unable to gain rank. If I can't raise up, why bother playing? I'm only doing it to get my legendary equipment and BTFO.
In my experience, you get out of silver very quickly. Maybe especially because of bots. Because the odds are in your favor for not being a bot yourself. In gold 2-3 I rarely see a bot. But I'm also only playing it for leggy and quick daily.
Bots suck, but I can't say that they affect my experience that much.

That is not really a big deal though, the bots are just straight up better than bronze, silver players and there are not that many of them. It's a bad look though for sure.
At this point, botting probably improves your games, even if it doesn’t seem like it. They’re giving you bodies to play against. If not for bots, you’d be getting thrown into higher mmr games against players that crush you, and with teammates that get annoyed at you. If you’re a strong enough player, you’ll climb out of silver either way.
They'll never do anything about it and I'm sure you know that, you only need to consider how many times people have gotten nothing more then a slap on the wrist for getting caught.
HONESTLY BIG THANK YOU FOR FINALLY ADRESSING THIS TOPIC!! the only conclusion i can take is longer que-times and of course even more busted matchmaking (plat vs. silver) but there shouldnt be even silvers around so is it basically playing against bots xD?

As a player who can mostly only play at really early AM times, I can tell you I stopped PvPing because of being matched with people who don't play and are alt boxes.
The integrity of the mAT win is still very high, despite a very small number of shady winners. Ranked Leaderboard is a lost cause at this point and I'm genuinely surprised you bring this up now. As you said even without wintrading it would still be hard to take it seriously due to 4-7am qing, q dodging, manipulating comps by qing on two unsuitable classes and hence force them into the other team etc. Wintrading isn't even a big issue overall, but unfortunately it tends to decide who gets R1, which is obviously bad. At this point we might have more wintraded Gods of the Arena than legit ones, so that battle is definitely already lost. However, realistically this more of an issue for the few players at the top than for the average Joe trying to reach Plat and seeing the comments here it seems like the issue is being blown out of proportion as usual.
The 2v2 Season that is happening at the moment is full with bots. 4 out of 5 matches have bots in them, in my team or on the enemy team. Is not fun tbh...
When they changed the system a couple of years ago, I quit playing for exactly the reason you are bringing up. I used to love sPvP. I am a guild leader and used to run the missions and take teams in. I quit because of what happened in that play mode.
Off topic, I dont get why people say am and then morning. Like if something is occurring at 4:00am then the am tells the person it's the morning. You don't say 4:00am in the morning. Not just here it seems to be a trend going on for the past year and a bit that I've noticed
It's probably not a problem for 95% of all pvp players, but ye it discourages to even try to get top 1-10.
I stopped almost completely with pvp around pof, when I got whispered every second game.
I remember queuing ranked with a friend for his first PVP game ever at 3:00AM back in 2016 and facing the rank one team that was playing the international tournament at the time. Lol, made him never want to play again..
Multibox in ranked/ats and any form of match manipulation is against ToS.

Honestly Anet needs to bring the hammer, not Dishonor but suspensions. Wintrading and Botting is killing pvp and if it isn't fixed pre expac it will never recover fully.
gw1 died due to the massive number of accounts banned for botting and they must know it, I think that removing the titles (all of them) and the rewards would be enough
The title system GENERALLY needs a massive re-work and not so much bloat. However, you bring great points that I've been wanting to see them take seriously for a long time now. I really do they do something about rank, its such a shit show now and thats saying something.
One of the best things in Gw1 was titles meaning something. Regrettably the majority of Gw2 Titles mean absolutely nothing and doesn't feel anyone necessarily good about their accomplishments.
Truth be told, even players that point fingers at others doing it have been doing it themselves in exchange of payment. A LOT of the scene is plagued with this lol. On NA it's always the case. I honestly believe you're underestimating how much of it is going on and for how long.

One unfortunate thing is that as cool as automated tournaments are as a concept, they are also such an attractive extra reason for wintrading. A tangible reward for it. So whatever loopholes there are it's just amplified by that, which is a shame as it's an excellent feature for a pvp system.
not as many bots? there was in a game last season with 9 bots, what's the chance of that? there are even more bots running around during mini season, like 9/10 games have at least 1 bot.
started playing ranked to work on pvp backpack, after playing one and half season, don't give a crap about what rank any more, your rating is at the mercy of bots and match manipulators
and at times the MMR is out right broken, taking outliers to avg out the avg rating against a team that's all at around the avg mark ≠ good match making, it's actually terrible since a high ranked player can hold off 3 avg players; obviously the fault is not totally on Anet, ranked needs to have the flexibility of shifting from 5v5 to 4v4 to address the population issue

I very recently got into GW2 exclusively for the PvP (about 2 weeks ago now.) And i have to say, even though it's just the 2v2 off season, when i look at the ladder and see the #1 player is hundreds of MMR ahead of everyone else with some ridiculous 45-0 winrate the first thing i think of is if it's worth it to participate in a ranked system that is clearly being manipulated. Ultimately I'm going to keep playing, a few bad actors won't stop me, but it's certainly disheartening, and seemingly on the surface
The 2v2/3v3 seasons are not manipulated theres no exclusive reward
There aren’t a ton of people playing 2v2s, and you can pick the person you play with, so it’s not unusual for top players to go undefeated.

I still got to pvp for my legendary armor, it's not so bad, I dont ever expect to reach platinum. And I'm content staying in gold, I'm not great but definitely not bad in pvp, so it's fine.

Same as the gizmos in PvP..It's like buying raids to get the chairs from W6 and 7.
If it's ok for you in raids (A lot of streamers are doing "CM giveaways" to people who have no idea what a raid is) then it should be ok for you in sPvP.

I don't really PVP, but it seems to me if it is Ranked or Tournament it should be banned/dishonored, barred from PVP, whatever the terminology. No mercy.
If it is a Guild room or something though I would support them having their own rules/fun as it has zero impact on anyone else but themselves and those they let in.
It also devalue the people who are really trying to reach the number 1 spot, because people will just say meh they wintraded.
Not the same but take the 10 k rank in WvW. People still say yeah but they got it through EotM which was something that a few people got and most of the people now have put down a lot of work and effort in to it. But the rank have been devalued because of it and are frowned up on. Very sad.
It's so pathetic, the ladder was exactly the same for months, then literally the last day the 27th a guy gets 100 wins with maybe 7 loses. It's not possible to complete that many matches in ONE day. Seems like the easiest ban in the world.
it doesn't work like that; if you dont have enough matches, you can't be placed on the ladderboard, and that's what they do, they only play the last few games on the last few days to pop on the ladderboard, since you need 120 games, but anyway, ye, its pretty obvious. Anet just dont give a shit.
I mean, sPvP is played by a handful of people world wide. theres far less people playing sPvP in a month than people farming baubles in Pve in an hour.

NA/EU datacentres needs to merge. Just have opt-in options if you prefer one or the other?
There's a serious problem with trying to merge NA/EU. If you place all the servers in EU, every NA player will have at least double latency which will permanently disadvantage them especially in pvp/wvw. Vice versa if the servers were only in NA
@@TheAminoamigo I was referring to being able to connect & interact between either of. Actually play with. It would bolster all game modes. PvP & WvW could still use the current NA/EU only systems but have opt-ins maybe for a smaller merged population option? It's probably a headache but not impossible.
I had reported bots from 3 seasons ago that are still unbanned to this day. The guild dedicated to botting [PvPx] is still up and running. Almost everyone in the community is saying that im "just being toxic" and "those bots arent actually real" or "git gud". The community here sugar coats alot of problems with the game unless they agree on it. And now I see so many people just agreeing and saying what I said in the comments because some popular guy said it. I thank you, Mighty Teapot for stating this problem. But I don't think it will be fix anytime soon. There'll prolly be like.. A small fix in like 1-6 months or something and then people will be angry or something, then a net will pull a big PvP fix then they'll just abandon it again and then this dumb cycle will just continue.

Ranked PvP has been in a really bad place for years now and its not even a secret that leaderboard people use alt accounts to rig games, because at current time even semi decent placements will place you in range for queuing into leaderboard people. Basically, if you don't lose your 1st 3 placements then you can lose up to 4 games and you will be gold t3 or even can land into plat 1 and leaderboards start at plat2, because with each placements the hidden MMR you get goes down, you start at +/- 100 and go to +/-40 during those 10 games.
I honestly have little hope for any integrity at this point, because Anet just don't care, how many times long standing top PvP people have been found doing suspicious things or even selling titles and yet they are still here...
Still that said I like PvP and I still play and will play it, but that's only, because I duo with a friend.
I've been reporting bots nonstop, but they don't seem to go away. When I report hackers they seem to disappear. I hope Anet takes this problem seriously. It's not fun.
Bots in rank are worse than you think, on my end I ask for a refund from the expac, was denied, so I will log in to play the history, for me, this is on maintenance mode.
I was very excited to try PvP. It wouldn't let me try ranked at first, only unranked. Almost always my team was face rolled. Out of 120 games, I was on the winning team 40 times. Often I'd get get most healing, or most kills, most defense on my team, and I'm totally new and I don't know what I'm doing. I was hoping ranked would be different, that people would care, and I wouldn't be fighting five guys all queing together in discord while my team was a bunch of bots or something. First ranked game, some dude immediately disconnects. Another teammate stands at the spawn and won't jump down, saying he's not going to feed them while they win trade this game. I'm playing support, with literally no one to heal, and 5 guys standing at the spawn saying "This is boring, someone jump down..." on their team. I think I'm done with PvP. I gave it a fair shake.

I haven't touched ranked since the first few seasons and was around 1600ish rating i think it was (primordial when that was a thing?) on NA and my god sooo many players you can just tell were boosted or something, quite a few with guild tags that had VERY good players in it (pro league players..)

The fact anet handed out perma bans for wintrading 3 days after this video goes live is deeply worrying. It's like it was completely unknown about until someone passed this around the office on Monday morning and it got immediately acted on.
Realistically, people like MightyTeapot and Woodenpotatoes (etc) hold clout because so many of ANET's money spending customers follow and support these channels. But I agree, it's either like they didn't know or that they waited until the right people were mad enough. Both looks bad.

This has always been a problem. And it's a joke. Teapot you are always fighting the good fight, and I appreciate it, but the only real 'fun' to be had in this game is pve and wvw.
The integrity of spvp has been compromised for quite a while now. The players that win trade are actually good players, but if there's no integrity then there will not be any competition.
I would gladly try to compete if there was integrity. Anet needs to ban these players or fix the system so that it's impossible to pull off somehow.
Otherwise, I'll just keep having fun in wvw and pve!

Has been playing PvP for years since i own the game, and i can tell you the state of Spvp nowadays is garbage, i mean, bots, cheaters, and of course wintrading, this last season (season 28) i played 612 matches soloQing and i can confirm all those things that i have say before. its even harder due to you really care about what you are doing and you want to play lawful, but then you see those ppl doing this kind of stuff and you get disappointed, and the worst is they are "top player" ... well guess i can be happy to manage to climb up to above plat 2 soloQing and whitout need to use nasty methods. Even if cost to me this insane numbers of matches still better that achive something by a fraudulent way. (sorry for my english if i have some mistakes xd)
RiP is sure one of them he would never admit it but the rates that his at is not possible. He literally had like 170-200 games win and 10 losses and that was not just 1 account that was multiple accounts with different classes.
Well, I honestly admit, nope, never done PvP, won't ever do it. Now, I've done and occasionally will still go in WvW but, never will I do PvP. You're calling out something that's been going on since day one. I've seen many video's on PvP and there's a lot out there if you look close enough, there's a lot of "questionable" stuff going on. Which is why I won't ever do PvP.

Yeah, we need a fix for this and something new that replaces God of PvP for the hardcore pvp players. Maybe exclusive mount skins (lol).
It is not that hard to come up with a system that can't be exploited that easily. But I doubt that Anet will do anything. The only thing we can hope is that the awareness of this issue puts enough pressure on anet one day.
I would switch from playing pvp casually to playing it as the main game mode. It's just not motivating for various reasons to me.
Just give us some kind of open world pvp.

Solution: add players to pvp. How: triple gold gain in pvp to match or surpass pve gold gain.
Its better to Anet pay attention to the problem and do something about it rather than just adding more rewards. 3x gold gain means more bots and more non-interested players playing ranked just for the gold.
Regardless of if arenanet does something about it, the damage has already been done. The rewards have been gained a long time ago. "Just add more players". Brilliant. Revolutionary strategy.

Nothing is going to be done, the damage is already done, and its deserved. The game mode is already seen as a big meme/joke, no competative integrity remains, nail in the coffin was when a top tier team sold the first MAT through account sharing with the Eternal Guardians[EG] guild, and they all got a slap on the wrist. Precursors to all the wintrading existed back near S1 where people were always looking for ways to game the system like people making premades while at diamond/legendary rank picking up amber ranks to get easier matches or using a alt account at amber rank for the same purpose, or purposely letting your rank decay(old system) so you could get easier matches below your skill level.
So not only do you have all these bad marks on the game mode and letting the usual exploiters have free reign of the place, you also have lazy balancing and stripping away everything that made the game mode fun in the first place, which likely pushed even more players away. So let the wintraders have their game mode, honestly shouldn't get any updated rewards either because as soon as you put some sort of new shiny or desirable rewards you better bet they'll be all over that with their usual antics in force. I speak from NA perspective just for clarification.

Nos did lose partner for a while IIRC which is deserved ofc but I don't think he should be hardlocked for one dumb decision, someone has to stream the NA mAT haha.

You have no idea what you're saying, PvP still the same. WvW is even more toxic than PvP. Only changes that PvP had is nerfs and 1 new map (Djinn), can you tell me what changed? User interface and ranked points system?
@@yundarkness I have no idea what I’m saying? Rank 5k in wvw from pure roaming, I’ve been in rank ten multiple times pvp and played since day one. I think I know what I’m on about buddy.
Pvp died when they removed any flavour.
Limited stat selection, changed runes and sigils. It’s now boring. What you can play on each class is so limited it’s more akin to playing chess than an actual PVP mode.

You can have those in wvw ( which there are...cele ele is very much unkillable ). Pretty much everything that you cant do in pvp you can get in wvw EXCEPT blackwater mesmer....I'm glad that build died.

they need to remove the gold reward of rank and they need incentivize playing, i dunno about that teapot ive seen bots in nearly every game in pvp its almost every second or third game, like unless they remove the rewards bots and farmers will keep coming and this is also why i think the constant nerfs and removal of stats has only made pvp worse, I legitimately have no desire to play pvp and am only doing it for the last 2 ranks , the constant nerfs and "reigning in" of build diversity legitimate restricts how i want to play, factor that in with the toxicity where i might not be playing so well and i get verbally abused to high hell for it, like I legit have better things id rather be doing and if someone wants to get shitty with me Im perfectly ok not playing this match and letting them lose a little bit faster, pvp these days whether people are win trading, botting or trolling its just a cesspool's of the worst gw2 has to offer.
remove the 20g from ranked Byzantium to make it less profitable for bots and afk'ers
make tournaments have a minimum contribution points to receive rewards (eg: ifcheck (if damage = >20000 reward player for contributing)
while multibox is something I dont have an issue with partly because you hypothetically cant win if your multi boxing a match and honestly because of multi boxing ive helped my guild do the pvp rank point missions a few times by doing unranked and just claiming the loss points on my accounts 500 x 5 is 2500 rp which is half the required amount for those GM's
How does removing the rewards improve pvp? As a legit player its not good gold per hour at all. Why should legit players lose out because people decided to bot?
How about implement a bot detection system and also actually review the bot reports…

@@CERWINVEGAredRING look the gold is the main reason bots are there shouldnt getting legendary armor, gear and reward tracks be enough of a reward to play pvp, i mean your legit getting more then any other pvp game in any other mmo offers from those three things.... i just completed my legendary pvp armor, for the last 20 ranks and the last grind i did strong holds exclusively, i was still making about 20g each rank from reward tracks and 40g from my fractals and daily farm...
In the grand scheme 20g from the rank rewards would make it less profitable to bots and still reward legit players with progress to the legendary gear, in the end thats where the frustration, that backpiece require x wins in a day and some days where you just get multiple line ups of bots and clueless players it just makes you want to quit... like I personally dont like devoting an entire day to play russian roulette on ranked pvp to see which teams gets the worse line up
and until a net fixes this shit im perfectly happy to not get gold from pvp, most of the time even prior to getting the legendary i worked more so towards unlocking skins and reward track items but my frustrations truly started when i went for the legendaries, the monumental amount of bots, clueless players and absolutely toxic gronks that play pvp... frankly it just makes me so happy to never need to touch that shit again 9 years of guild wars and personally pvp is the one mode thats devovled into an absolute shit show of toxicity so much so guildies have outright avoided that side of the game which is a shame because take away all the idiots that chuck a hissy fit over lost games and the bots and the game most is fun but its the idiots and bots that ruin it for everyone, and frankly a legit player would share that view they would legitimately be playing regardless on whether there is 20g or not, thats why people would play pvp in wow and hell in most games you would get people just throwing down duels for fun outside of cities... a true pvp'r would pvp even if there was no rewards other then some titles... with that all said to each their own i just think this is the only thing that can be done their is a reason most mmo make worthless loot and make it really hard to make gold and thats to deter bots... that all said and done im just glad the only time ill ever have to play pvp now is for a break from the daily farm and pve stuff... this past 3 months in lockdown grinding 11 hours a day has been a nightmare but when in lockdown id rather gotten it done then deal with this when life goes back to normal and work kicks up
in the end all im saying pvp shouldnt be about rewards and just getting legendary armor set at less then 2000g should be rewarding enough
banning the bots requires zero brain effort, but anet have proven they dgaf about pvp which only emboldens wintrading. all you have to do for wintrades is to find the fishy behavior, monitor chat and mail gold trade, and there you go. outright hackers should be banned easy too, but in some cases they somehow are just let go of and they run amok. wtf are these clowns at anet doing, srsly they deserve everything they get at this point. i can't believe a team of professionals is this incompetent, something else is going on and honestly i hope this company fails at this point. oh and i don't buy this stuff about "well gw2 is a pve game". dude stfu, anet advertises all 3 game modes, and one game mode receiving this much bad press is likely to scare away players who primarily play one of the other modes.
They haven't even done anything about the bots, you think they care about the wintraders... I think is too late, the game mode is a disaster

It would be a huge problem if their GMs were deployed to work involving new expansion as claimed by your video. It is 2 different skill sets. You use engineers and builders for new expansion but referees / moderators for matches. Just hire some hardworking Asian staff to watch and ban cheaters. oh by the way, I just saw a solo maphacker in WvW { elementalist } that teleported from OW to Veloka when losing a fight on foot. Get your issues priority right !
Lets be honest pvp is only a gold farm at this point and not even the best one in game, whats the point of giving a shit in ranked and ranked rankings there is none. also something you dont mention the amount of people who make pvp toxic with the rude language and nothing has been done about those people since season 1 .

"These guys have to be the worst." Or the one's that go out of their way to "whisper" you to "lol", and twist the knife after the loss. No, I detest PvP in Guild Wars 2. I'm glad PvP players have arena's where they can test themselves and "be the best PvP player they can be". Otherwise they'd all be gankers playing the Asian MMO's where PvP is forced on people in open world. I'm glad you have an outlet to PvP, that however doesn't given you carte blanche on being a jerkwad.

Anywho, the matter at hand, there are many timezones... and there's a server for NA ones, EU ones and of course China. When there are ranked champions who are normally on at normal times for those servers suspiciously and repeatedly queueing at 4AM just for ranked spvp, when everyone knows there isn't an adequate population of players at their level to match them with so they can carry every game... Yeah, it's worth looking in to, as it'd be match manipulation which is against their terms of service (no one else used the term criminal, but I do appreciate your sensationalism), and in general erodes the meaning of a leaderboard if the top players never match against eachother and just farm low ranked players at off-hours.

So, if you were to go to their home, knock on the players door and ask them personally in their face if their up to no good...what do you believe the answer would be? Is it the fault of any one player? Maybe they work late. Maybe they work in the morning, afternoon, or a graveyard shift. You don't know. You guys are playing a guessing game.
