Well, hasn’t this experimental journal turned out to be a little masterpiece. It must feel so satisfying for you when the idea you begin with comes to fruition. Thank you for sharing your process and thoughts. Have a beautiful day, Barbara 🐨🇦🇺🦘
What a joy it has been to watch this project unfold. I deeply respect how you challenger perfectionism and make space for your intuition to be your guide. This little book is precious. Thank you for sharing it with us.
So gorgeous!!! You could add your own wedding photo - or a black/white photo of you and your hubby.
This was my happy for today. I totally enjoyed all of it. I was glad to find out you are not a hoarder. You gave yourself permission to use the beautiful items in your awesomely awesome lace journal. This way you get to fully enjoy your precious items. Hoarding is hiding the precious thing. Use them and enjoy them. Love...love...love your journal. It's gorgeous!
Thank you so much! ♥️
I love everything about your videos!!! A year ago I never heard of a junk journal or art journal and when I stumbled across your TH-cam channel I fell in love!!! I'm now an avid "junk art journal" creator, it's the perfect outlet for me creative side and the first medium I've been happy with all my results in my entire life! It's the perfect outlet for me when my garden is asleep. THANK YOU for you're amazing content, positive attitude and lovely personality! (and I am a grouchy person lol!)❤❤❤
Im very honored! ☺️♥️
I love it as well! I do it more in the colder months too! When I can dig in the dirt I'm a little too busy❤
Barbara - I totally agree with the concept of a 'visual journal'. In fact, I would say that pretty much sums up the majority of what I make. I do include sentiments, quotes, and small pieces of writing (sometimes I leave room to add more at a later date) - but on the whole, it's the visual elements that make me the most happy. As I said in my last comment, I think this wee journal is a work of art, and not all art works have words. 🧡💚🤎
This journal is so special. It would be fun to place real family wedding photos for a personal, customized journal. So sweet and feminine. ❤
I had the same thought. A perfect finishing touch would be Barbara's own wedding photo!
It is delightful, gorgeous, fun! I love how this shows a journal can be complete without later additions - it can be a piece of tactile art in itself. What a lovely way to showcase all those beautiful papers and laces, as well as the digitals. Thanks for taking us along for the ride!
Oh my goodness!! You had me chewing my nails watching you sew in your signatures. I was yelling at the TV! Okay, so no templet. But you can draw in dots. Lol. I was glad you sewed the other 2 off screen. I couldn’t do it. Lol. It turned out so good though. And your fix for gluing on wax paper was perfect. I love the whole Journal. And now the pretty pieces you’ve been hoarding are out of a drawer where they can be seen and loved!! And not hidden away in the dark. Beautiful!♥️♥️♥️
I did have fun Barbara! Thank you! This journal is gorgeous! Blessings
I don't think I've loved another mini journal more than this one.🥹💗
Aaaaaw thank you! ♥️
I am so in love with this journal! The texture and sounds my fingers ache to touch it all. I am ready to make my own, you are such an inspiration! Thank you!
I am in love with this little gem!! I have just had the thought that I would make something similar and put the wedding photos of my parents in it! Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful series ❤❤❤
Great idea!! ☺️👍🏻
Just gorgeous! It’s my favorite junk journal ever
I agree! Although the slashed Jean journal is a really close second!
Aaaaaw! Thank you so much! ♥️
Awesome. Thank you for your prayers. My surgery went really well. Now I'm just to be resting . I have one more follow up next week. Thanks for everything. 🤗🤗👍💜
Happy to hear it went well! Rest up and the second one will be done in no time. Sending g lots of extra hugs and love! ♥️
Thank you❤
So beautiful! I love the way that you showed us how to overcome the challenges. 🤗🇨🇦🤗
This journal is soooo beautiful. I love the idea of a journal of textures. I agree with you some journals can be just for looking at or telling a story not for 'journaling' I have journals that I keep purely for reviewing.
Love all the fabrics and laces and it’s your first delicate journal, hope you make more of this type. Thank you Barbara.
I love everything about out this fabric and lace journal. It’s GORGEOUS!
I really look forward to Fridays watching you on here. This little journal has overcome all your small glitches, and is looking GOOD!
❤
Brava! So worth the wait. This was a total feast for the eyes. I can just imagine how wonderful it feels to the touch as well.
Barbara! I love this sooo much! You inspire me so much to create new things like this! And i totally agree about it being a journal! Who says you have to write in one??? I loved when u said ugh uh, like no way to that one piece of fabric😂 tfs! Just gorgeous!!! ❤❤❤
I love this little journal. It would be a sweet, keep- sake for a bride.
A beautiful journal and you are so right that less is more with this journal. The vertical closure is a touch of genius. Beautiful 💕💕
I ❤it !! It’s so cute and so original and beautifully made!! Thank you for sharing !! Barbara 🤩
I don't have words, is so delicate and yes, art in itself. I know you like grungy, but when you put your soul into lace and soft materials and nuances, it is like dreams can finally be palpable. Stunning ❤❤❤
Aaaaaw thank you so much for your very kind words! ❤️
I absolutely love this gorgeous little journal. I remember I used to watch this channel many many years ago this very talented artist always made fabric journals with tons of lace and added embellishments. This is so elegant and pleasing to the eye. Love it. One of a kind. Thanks for sharing. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
This is so unusual ❤ I love it! Especially the button bouquets and the lace heart 💐 ❤️
Oh what a cute little weddingjournal! Love it!! ❤
😘😘 aus Belgien 🌻
I am so in love with every page of this journal and of course the cover as well. I make journals but I do not journal. My joy is in the visual and and the touch of a beautiful journal. This one of yours is such a feast for the eyes and I can almost feel like I’m touching it when you turn the pages. Thank you ,Barbara, for sharing this extraordinary beauty with us. It means a great deal. 💜
Thank you so much! ♥️
Beautiful journal. I have seen similar journals done with different textiles ,stitching and all things fabric, threads and sewing elements.
Love the little journal.
Beautiful. I love all the textures
It turned out beautifully!
This journal is so special Barbara! It has to be one of my most favourite ever! It’s so unique and beautifully textured. So inspirational! Tfs all the processes with us.
Thank you so much! ♥️
This journal is precious! The perfect amount of grunge and lace! Thank you for sharing.
It may have been super challenging, but I think your sewing style adds to the rustic look of your journal. I absolutely love it, Barbara. (I'm so sorry if I mispelled your name) I love your journal. A rustic look tells a story. Whatever story you want. This one says I've been well loved and will be cherished forever.
Thank you so much! ❤️
Love this Lacey crunchy sounding wedding journal
Barbara - I love this delicate little journal. It is so unique and beautiful!! That button, the lace, the verticle couple belly bands...you are brilliant girl!!
Aaaaaw! Thank you so much! ☺️
Absolutely gorgeous and I love the button bouquets!
Just gorgeous👏👍👍👍🌺🌼🌸
What a gorgeous little journal Barbara...love it ❤
Absolutely stunning, your work is wonderful Barbara, thank you.
I loved this project! I agree that journals can be creative and different!
Love the shades of white and cream. I’ll bet it feels really good in your hands. ❤
This journal is absolutely beautiful!
What a cool idea Barbara! It’s so airy and pretty. ❤
So tactile and pretty!!!Love it! 😍 I might try taking each signature, laid open and run the center through my sewing machine to stabilize all that sliding, THEN sew that signature onto the rust dye strip?
You took the words right out of my mouth❤ just a simple little run to hold them in place❤❤❤
Love this little journal and all the different types and styles you do!
Love this unique journal and how you make everything come together! the variety of special delicate fabrics is the eye candy for me 😊
I have so enjoyed this series, I absolutely love this slashed journal it’s absolutely amazing. 💜💜💜
Beautiful journal
I love your journals. They always turn out so beautiful.
Yay! I love this little journal. Totally forgot it’s Friday (busy, BUSY day) so imagine my delight when I came in from getting ice cream with my sweet hubby, and opened TH-cam to find there was a new 49dragonflies video!!! Yay! Happy Day!
Aaaaaaw thank you! ♥️
Good stitching of signatures! Love the closure. "Art" journal, I have made a few. So ya, bind, glue, stitch paper, fabric, metal, wood etc together into some form of a book and that there is a junk journal in my mind. Think outside of the box, there is so much freedom in this art form! Love your little journal, the denim one as well.❤
To find the middle I use a warm iron to create a light crease. Also you can make a hand basted or taking with a different colored thread make large stitches you can clip or cut them after you are done!
Love this Journal is so Beautiful Dear 💖
I absolutely agree that you don’t have to write in journals! I don’t write in all of mine, only some. It’s like Luise said once (I forget which video), handmade journals are art. You don’t ask someone what they’re going to do with the painting on your wall. It’s there to appreciate and enjoy. Same with journals!
So true! No words are required. Just use your imagination and flow on paper as you go a long. Takes minutes or days. I love my work and I get inspiration from Barbara, mostly. Don't you just love her beautiful and fluid fingers and nail polish? I've started to paint my nails and notice how much I get more creative in my journals. Thank you, Barbara!
@@cynthiawhite9583 I agree about her nails. They’re always so beautiful!
I love every page..and the sewing...so beautiful!
💝Fabuleux. Magnifique et quelle originalité. Thank you for sharing💖
Always enjoy your videos. Thank you, Barbara!
Barbara, what an absolutely gorgeous journal. And the closure worked out great! I like it better then if it was the original closure. Just beautiful! TFS! ❤
Barbara: a lovely fabric/lace journal. Most enjoyable. Carol from California
I love, love these rag books. Each one always has their own feeling or vibe. Which makes them so inspirational when you go to pick it up and start to create. Because you look at the rag journal itself to find inspiration. At least that’s my two cents worth. I absolutely have no desire to write in them other than may be a quote or something like you did. This journal is absolutely stunning. 🤩 I love all your attention to details. And the gorgeous laces and fabrics and doilies. It’s beauty is undeniable and it creates its own inspiration. You truly are an amazing artist! Hugs 🤗❤️
Aaaaw thank you! 🙏🏻♥️
So pretty and how unique! Love it!!
I love this idea. Now I want to go out and buy some pretty lace and thin material (see-through so I can make a small deco journal thank you Barbara. I love it
Lol firstly, that button looks like butterscotch😋😋😋. It's such a pretty little journal 😍. It would make a beautiful bridal gift. I still need to rust dye🙈. Oh yes, a whole new set of challenges🙊. I fall in love every time I see those paper clips😍. Pin and machine stitch? Lol matte gel is the answer to everything!🤘. A button can just be there to look cute! You make sewing a button on much more interesting! Imagine having them on clothes like that 😄 so cute. For some reason it reminds me of The Borrowers (a childhood favourite of mine). She's even more like a bridal gift now. Imagine handing her down through generations, each bride adding a scrap of wedding fabric and photo! Gorgeous 😍😍😍 I love her! Tfs and have a great day 💖💖💖
Stunning!!!!!
i love this whole series! So many neat techniques and ideas. Thank you for sharing!
Hi Barbara. This is simply stunning!!! It's my No. 1 most favourite journal of all time. Love it !!!! 💙
Wow, thank you! ♥️
Stunningly beautiful. I am in awe of your art, it always turns out amazing even when you doubt yourself. Thank you for sharing this journal with us. ❤ xxx
Thank you so much! ♥️
Excellent journal. It’s just perfect, and I love every page. ❤
Wow - what a beauty!
It's beautiful! It's also way more effort than I would like to take. But it is gorgeous.
I love this so much!❤
Absolutly beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Sooooo pretty 😍 completely my style ❤
I love your small soft journal! I want to try it sometime soon!🎉
Love this journal.
Just love this, one of my favourites that you have made!
This is a sweet little fabric book! It takes more sewing skills than paper-crafting skills, I think.
Use some pins, like you would sewing fabric on your machine, next time. It should stay put, then!
Thanks for sharing, and for your love of challenges! Hugs! Peggy
I agree with Peggy, use the long quilter straight pins. They would work very well!
Wowwwwwy it’s beautiful. Yes it must stay like that. You must try a shabby chic lacey journal😊 would luv to see
OMG Barbara, this is my kind of journal. 😀I love everything about it. You made it so intricate & beyond perfection! Loveeeettttt😍😍😍🤩🤩🤩
Aaaaaw thank you! ❤️
Me encanta! me despierta tantas sensaciones esas texturas!
Visual delight, thank you for sharing.
lovely journal!
It’s gorgeous ❤️❤️👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I love this little journal. You have really inspired me. I love to embroider and stitch so I would add off white embroidery and stitched borders in mine. I love the vintage photos with the rust dyed fabrics too. I never use a template in binding my pages. I think with flimsy fabric pages temporary tacking would hold them in place removing the tacking when the book is bound. The other thought I had was to put stiffer pages intermittently throughout the journal just to make it a little more sturdy. Arohanui from me in Aotearoa New Zealand ❤
What a beautifully unique journal! It is just lovely. Love your channel and love the way you explain things to us. I have collected tons of items and still have not had the courage to make one on my own 😞. I'm anxious to, but it seems I am always cleaning or cooking. I am retired from 30 years of teaching. Now, it is my turn to do what I love. Just don't know how to make it all fit into one day.
Hi Janelle. I just felt that I wanted to respond to your comment, because it resonates with me. I too, have collected a lot over the years, and am now learning to do what I love. I think Barbara might say that it's ok to take 'baby steps'. A journal does not need to be made in a day. Perhaps start with a theme, and collate some of the items that you think would fit - then see where it leads you. Enjoy the journey. 🧡💚🤎
Thank you so much! You will figure it out, I’m sure! ♥️
@lillybullen5374 Thank you so much for your response. It just brought me to tears. Teaching was my first love, but now, since retirement, I have had some health issues that have slowed me down. I have started a little journal/photo album to get my feet wet. I'm trying. But, I want you to know how your comment touched me deeply 🥲. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to respond to me. I deeply appreciate you!
@@49dragonflies Thank you so much! I am trying.
26:16 Wow, that abstract button bouquet is such a clever, elegant details. I will create a similar composition and feature it right on the front of my cover. I also will remember to try not to crowd my journals. Including number 2 into the wedding (couples...) journal - how simply perfect! You made this point super clear with this make. The journal is classy, stylish, professional. Thanks a lot!
Thanks so much! ♥️
Stunning. ❤
Stunning! ~Terri 😊
So beautiful!! ❤️
Wow I absolutely love this journal❤❤ one that I will be wanting to make 😊😊 thank you so much for sharing 🥰❤️😘🇨🇦
I LOVE this!
I love this beautiful journal ❤️! Thank you for taking us along on your creative journey. I'm looking forward to making a journal in this fashion. So many wonderful possibilities 🥰🌟!
Thank you and Have fun! ❤️😊
So romantic!
Your work surface will guide you in centering everything. Align the first page's center with one of the vertical guidelines and add the other layers appropriately.
Barbara I really love this little journal, I agree totally with you that sometimes a journal is not for writing in! As with other art forms it just IS and is beautiful 🥰 Also your tutorial on eco-dyeing may not be exactly the same as what you used for this cloth but it does contain quite a few rust elements (from 2 years ago)
Really nice stuff i like
