Deji played it smart, he realised how much he talked and promised the last times he fought and is now staying low to the ground and keeping it to himself which is great to see as much as it’s not very content friendly.

One thing I've noticed about Deji's face - offs is he used to come off as really cocky and say what he's going to do to his opponent in the ring, whereas this one he's kept quiet. Although Deji was giving pretty bad answers, I do think this is a better approach for Deji. Honestly hope Deji wins, becuase I feel like he has the ability, but only time will tell, come on Dej!! 💙

some may say JJ was arrogant in the face off, but imo you need to have (or fabricate) some kind of grudge against the opponent in order to truly fight them. Its human nature, JJ did it very well.
JJ is just playing the heel in this fight. Otherwise it would be nowhere near as interesting since Alex is such a nice guy (and so bad at promoting the fight).

I find it genuinely hard to believe Dejis changed at all tbh. Takes lessons but never seems to learn from them. He doesn’t need to win to impress me tbh just a good performance where it looks like he’s trained would be nice.
As soon as Alex got his game plan for counter punches going Deji crumbled and wouldn’t punch. How you gonna get passed that mental barrier because Fousey will be so much more aggressive than Alex
This. To be fair, we never know what goes on behind the scenes, but what I see is underconfident. Sure, you lost three fights, but you're portraying yourself as changed, calm, humble, and everything in between. And when he said, "He's doing this fight for himself," thats cap. He simply took KSI's word from the video KSI made after Deji lose to Alex. I'm sure he was told to respond with "I'm just here to fight," which is a major support. All the best to both fighters

To be fair, although Deji kind of looks like he's being made to do this and doesn't actually want it, he's actually done the right thing in staying low to the ground and just trying not to give Fousey the satisfaction of getting into his head.
Could be some reverse psychology in there to try to frustrate Fousey by not giving him a reaction, but it also seems to be something he's learned from his last fight against Alex when he talked all that shit, raised everybody's expectations, and then failed to deliver, which is never a good look. He doesn't want to make the same mistake again this time around. I respect that.
