    The Cleaner paints the diesel engine, pony motor, radiator and holds down the fort! We also install a better set of rockers from the 7J parts machine. Overall, progress continues on the 1939 Cat D4 / RD4 agricultural crawler with a D4400 diesel engine. 4G9986 "Lil Lefty" has never been so much fun and fulfilling. I hope you enjoy the shop talk, banter and commentary.
    We are operators pretending to be mechanics!
    Thanks for watching!
    Regards,
    Aaron & Greg "The cleaner"

      Thank you! So far we've been very happy with the paint. Does take a lot of coats to cover with yellow.

      Thanks Tom, your kindness and generosity is always appreciated. It really helps to know that the videos are appreciated. I'm starting the learn that the unsung stars of film are the editors, 😂. I'm glad that you're home now. hopefully you're enjoying a nice morning while watching it snow outside. 😊

    The D4 rocker assembly is very analog to the Belarus 600 series engine D-65 rocked assembly. The D-65 engine has additional o-rings for the valve cover spacers. Usually they are rock hard and leaking like hell after decades of decay. I'm very happy with the new paint and how you and dad approached all the issues. Love the little machine your wife has, never seen one before.
    What did the cleaner use to prep the surfaces?

    • @lifeafterourloss
      @lifeafterourloss  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      We use a paint prep degreaser. Everything gets a very thorough cleaning before we even hit it with the wire brush or sandblaster. I never really considered O-rings. That might be a better option. I'm sure I have some that would work.

      @@lifeafterourloss On the D-65 engine there is a groove in the metal spacers where you can attach the O-ring. Go back to my videos and you maybe able to see it. Don't see one in the D2 and D4 however you can use cork gaskets instead.

      @SuperMAZ007 I think you're right cork would work just as well.

    I like the gasket maker your wife has.
    Can your wife's machine make different patterns?

    • @lifeafterourloss
      @lifeafterourloss  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I think it can mimic pictures and you can make any designs. It is limited on size though so only smaller gaskets will work. It works best with thinner material. She came to the shop when I was trying to cut smaller gaskets and offered to make them with her cricut machine. I was impressed. 👍

      That's awesome.
      You asked about the gasket that goes on the valve cover, that your wife made.
      According to my Caterpillar book, it says that it is a seal.
      Part number 8F4994

      I can see how I missed the part number. In my parts books it does not show up until the late 7J and 5T series. In my earlier books it is shown as "part of assembly." I will definitely pick a few up for the future. 👍
