Agreed; I found things that bothered me in Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle (which are both still excellent films), but this movie is an absolute masterpiece. My favourite movie of all time tbh.
craziest thing about laputa was that miyazaki wrote down a script for a 6 hours film that was cut down to what we have now, immagine what icredibile film it was originally in his mind
Yes, the mining town that Pazu is from is designed after some Welsh farmland and towns Miyazaki had seen! Not so sure what the island/Kingdom of Laputa is modeled after
Maaaan this is a good one. I'll never understand why Totoro is the most iconic Ghibli movie in the west, of all Ghibli works. Like it's good, but fuck man Nausicaa and Castle in the Sky are just so gorgeous and timeless and exciting and Totoro's two kids getting lost. I get why Nausicaa is a bit tricky to see merch of in the wild, since it's technically not a Ghibli movie, but man where's all the Laputa stuff?
Laputa is from the timeless classic of Gulliver's travels. The people living there are narrowly distracted with exploring scientific endeavors that serve no improvement to daily life.
nausicaa laputa totoro an incredible free creation moment in days at works as it costed as usual for anime but in particular for miyazaki. there were magnificent movies made after that but this sort of trilogy is a special... kore
@@womannn Maybe no, because if you search "Hayao Miyazaki on Totoro" you will find a video with the same setting which means this was a program in which he talked about his animated films not only Castle in the Sky.
This is the best Ghibli movie for me as of now.

I agree, I just rewatched it this morning and it felt great 😆

Fun fact: Laputa was inspired by Wales. It makes me happy to know that, as I'm Welsh! ♡
@Joe Owens Nice, I'm from South Wales too! ♡
I agree, our villages are so easy to recognise in movies.
First I thought you ment the animals.
BTW: my cousin went to school in Wales😉
@@scottjohnnyhelgemoaune2951 Nice! ♡
@Joe Owens I'm originally from Barry but, now moved.

Thanks to the flying robot in superman; Miyazaki made the robot guardian in Laputa, and thanks to Miyazaki; there's the iconic iron golem in Minecraft

Fun fact in Spanish the phrase "La puta" means "the whore", so when I watched Laputa in Spanish I freaking died xD
Hermano, 😅 he estado riendo pa horas güey.
Where did you find this interview?
what is the source for this? I would love to see the rest of the material.
Looks like a DVD or BD feature. Definitely not from when disney was distributing them, maybe the modern GKIDS release?

Best of the best anime ever
