I've watched a few studio ghibli museum tour videos and without a doubt this is the best shot one. 1. Camera work 2. Information. 3. Clear enunciated voice. All great thank you.
So hard to choose, there is so much detail in everything there. I definitely liked all the outdoor areas, it was nice to just walk around and take it all in. The shop is very dangerous though haha I wanted to buy everything.
I went to the Ghibli Museum all the way back in 2003, and found your video as I was feeling nostalgic. I accidentally went out the wrong exit at the station and got lost in Mitaka! By the time I got my bearings, and got to the museum, it was just five minutes before my entrance time was up. I would so dearly love to go back someday.
Wish I was there. I hope to one day go to Japan and see the beautiful landscape and one of the biggest reason is because I'm a huge fan studio gibli films.
I wanna visit this Ghibli museum so bad. Also I'd love to see Tokio because I love studio Ghibli movies so much. But I live in Germany and I am only 17years old, so I need to wait until I turn 18.Also my parents won't let me go alone but I don't wanna go with a friend because the things I wanna see in Japan are not the ones my friends are interested in and I don't wanna feel stressed when I visit my dream place :) But I'll be there in a year for sure! Hopefully the Studio Ghibli themed Park has opened then, that would be awesome to see too! 😍
I wish I could go there one day I was a fan of ghibli since I was ten even though I never saw a ghibli film I was always fascinated and enchanted by them and now I’m 14 and finally got to see my first ghibli film and loved it and that just makes me want to go here even more
Just went to the museum in November and absolutely loved it. Such a fun and whimsical museum to explore and enjoy. Not allowing filming inside made the experience so much better, and something I wish was done in more museums. Your video was a help for our side trip there, thanks!
I was in Japan on Jan, 2019. We went to Osaka, Nara and Kyoto, but couldn't make it to Tokyo. I can't stop blaming myself for that. My heart is filled with emotions watching this video. I don't think I would've had the courage to step in, because if I did, surely somebody had to drag me out. Thank you for sharing this.
Going to Japan soon! Doing Tokyo, Osaka, Nara and Kyoto as well! I wanted to get your opinion on where to go first (out of Osaka Kyoto and Nara). Is it easy to travel between them? Do I need to book train tickets in advance? Thanks in advance :)
I'm a huge Ghibli fan and I never really imagined that one day I would be able to go to Japan. God willing, I will be visiting in November of this year. Unfortunately, due to lack of time, I can only choose between the Museum in Tokyo or the Park in Nagoya, so I prefer to go to the Park. And if God allows me to come back, then I could go to the museum.
welp, I'm going to Japan in about a week and they just announced they would close the museum until after I'm already back in my country. I had bought tickets and was looking forward so much to visit...
Thank you so much for sharing your experience and tips! I'm going at the end of the year with my cousin and one of my best friends and I'm so excited!!
Thank you for the info, Ros! I was thinking of going to Japan once the pandemic is over. And one of the place I would like to visit is the Ghibli museum. This really help me prepare beforehand.
Thanks for posting this great video! I will be traveling to Japan soon and would very much like to see the museum. JTB USA now only sells the Ghibli tickets as part of an overpriced package. 😒 I hope I will be able to get tickets from the Lawson web site. They seem to sell out quickly.
I hope you get your tickets too!!! When are you going to Japan? As long as you arrive around the 10th of the month you should be able to get tickets for the upcoming month. Tickets are released on the 10th and during our recent trip we still managed to see tickets available at Lawsons for a week after release. Good luck!!!
I wanna say it was equivalent to about $40 Canadian. Definitely worth it if your friend likes animation (at least I think so 😄). There are sections about the origins of animation which inspired Hayao Miyazaki. I'm guessing your friend also enjoys Studio Ghibli...so it's a win win 😊
whats the block at 5:45 ? it looks like its written in the thuum language but theres no way thats right. i cant find anything about it and im very curious?
Very insightful video! I'll put this on my bucket list. You mentioned that there's a separate ticket to go inside the gift shop. Where/how would that be possible? Does it include in the same links you provided in the description? Or at a Lawsons?
Hi, sorry but no there's no seperate ticket. The same museum ticket gives you access to the gift shop and you can't access the gift shop without a museum ticket. Hope that helps, let me know if you have other questions 😊
It was enough time but if you can book for an earlier entry time then even better. Although I had enough time I did feel a bit rushed. Are you planning on going soon?
I also went last January and because of my schedule I could only stay 2h and I also felt it was a bit rushed even though I saw every room. If you can by tickets from the JTB group do it since there’s no allocated time on those :D For me I wished I had had time to eat there after my first 2h visit and then go again because even though the museum is quite small there is sooooo much to see you’ll discover new things everywhere you go back to
This place was mentioned on jaiden animations trip to Japan and when I heard her say "ur not allowed for any photos or films" so as soon I heard that I wiped up the search bar
So folks can't b-line stright to the gift shop, they need a ticket? Oh well.. still optimistic I'll enjoy it someday. Thank you for your insightful video♡
You may want to check with the staff there before you go. And bring your friend if she is in Japan. Another option is to check their website, it's generally good for FAQ though a little tough to navigate. Hope you get to go!
Thanks so much for this helpful video! I have a few questions: For the ID, can we bring a photocopy of passport or do they require actual passport? Also, is this museum a place that younger children can also appreciate (considering you said it is more of a celebration of animation, which grown-ups can appreciate)? -- it may sound obvious but I thought I'd ask.. Many thanks for your input!
Hi! Thank you for watching my video :) the museum is definitely child friendly in my opinion and many of the people there were young families. It's a very interactive place for kids to discover and use their imaginations. There are no rides though so keep in mind that it's not like a Disneyland type of experience. It's a bit more akin to an interactive museum. So if the kids you plan on taking have seen Ghibli movies they should find this super fun. In terms of the photocopy of the passport I'm not sure, sorry. It might be best if you sent them a quick email or double check the FAQ section of their website, I have links in the videos description box. If you go to the ghibli museum let me know how you (and the kiddies) liked it :D
Oh no! :( you'll still have an amazing time in Japan! Make sure to check out all of the official Ghibli stores, they're like mini exhibits. I have some videos on my channel if you want to see what to expect. Safe travels :)
It's not my first time in Japan, and I guess it won't be my last. I did a little ghibli marathon last weekend when the idea of visiting ghibli crossed my mind. I didn't know the tickets were so reserved. Next time, I know better. Guess I pay Totoro a visit, sigh, and wait for the cat-bus ^^

I was here 2 years ago and really enjoyed it. I think if your a ghibli fan it’s a must go to when your in Japan.
Couldn't agree more! What was your fave part?
So hard to choose, there is so much detail in everything there. I definitely liked all the outdoor areas, it was nice to just walk around and take it all in. The shop is very dangerous though haha I wanted to buy everything.

Isn't Mitaka such a lovely place though?! I found it so tranquil.
Hope you make it back to the museum one day :)
Woah, you went to the museum the same year I was born! weird haha
Mei and the kitten bus was honestly just amazing, this video got me excited 😆

It certainly lives up to the hype, Japan is pure magic.

Thanks for the video. What are the other stores in Tokyo that sell Studio Ghibli stationery?
Tokyu Hands for example :)
Nice one.
Informative and tempting.

To walk in the inner areas yes but to see the Totoro that's outside at that ticket booth no :)

No, they don't allow video or photography.
