    Anyone else kind of mad at themselves for finding this weird little thing so cozy? Nothing in this story embodies cozy from beating animals to bloodied carrots to surrealist worm costumes, but the soundtrack and the weirdly Scorsese way the characters narrate all hit tons of cues of satisfaction in me. This one and Lords of Synth are truly the best at capturing an entire weird world that almost feels like cameras sent into an alternate universe.

    I think the frog team is actually a squad of hitmen. After a string of successful hits, they are hired by the mayor. After botching the job and getting caught, the yellow shirt guy leaves the frog team before the police catch up to him and arrest him. Using the yellow shirt guy as a lead, one of the only police officers who is not on the Mayor's payroll picks up the trail, and proceeds to dig into the mayor as a suspect in hiring a hitmen. When the mayor finds out he is suspected, he must kill the cop just as he has other witnesses, in order to tie up loose ends.

      I was thinking about this today and I think "the frog team" is supposed to be a group of soldiers in Irag or Afghanistan and the "engineers" are all the high level US statesmen and high level pro-US Iraqis/Afghans they are supposed to protect. Eventually the pressure gets to him, he gets into a fight with a superior, and is discharged. He joins a private security group like Blackwater(Cape Canaveral) but doesn't like it and perhaps he is mentally breaking down at this point. Eventually he comes back to the US with PTSD and mental problems so he is homeless and wonders around doing strange things.

      frog team was going after and intimidating/harassing/blackmailing "frogs" (a particularly noisey protester/activist).
      Frog team's assault on a turtle was an old recluse who had bonefied property rights/secure source of income over a property needed by the aerospace firm.. they were also harassed/blackmailed/intimidated until they "cracked"

      The law are the frogs, the people are worms, and the actual animals are viewed as the inheritors of the earth. Usually Man eats frogs, frogs eat worms, and worms eat man. But in this case frogs consume the things they view as parasites. So it makes you ask yourself, if the “worms” are the parasites, why do frogs eat them? Why does society have to consume disorder to survive and is based around the constant opposing of disorder? Why do people force their ideas on others knowing it will have the opposite effect? Because everyone has their own idea of a parasite and everybody’s right. Secretly they want the worst for them, but the original sin was the introduction of the first parasite, Satan, which was to humor the idea that parasites even exist outside of Satan himself. In the act of doing that we make parasites of ourselves. Without eating the fruit, the idea wouldn’t have even entered our mind. As soon as you assume evil you create evil. The parasite is always the worm, but he can trick people into putting on the worm suit. No matter who you think the worm is you’re wrong, the only real worm is the parasite we choose listen to.

      Henry Colvin from what I can tell a lot of people have there own ideas. One is that the frog team is a squad of hit men and the worms are people in the mayors pocket as a cop finds what has happened he is killed. Another is that the strange guy and the frog squad were soldiers and the engineers were pro us politicians in Iraq and that he gets in trouble and attacks a politician or higher up and is discharged and joins a paramilitary force but quits. Then he walks around doing strange things due to his time. Another one is that frog team is meant to stop noisy protesters from doing bad things.

  • @stayniftyGuyFaceMannPersonDude

    Well that was either immensely subversive, or nonsensical for the sake of comedy
    leaving the viewer confused as to how the absurdity of people in worm costumes could possibly tie into what seemed to be
    an engrossing dark character piece that i wouldn't mind watching in theaters.

      "nonsensical"?

      And a lot of people agree with this opinion.

    • @stayniftyGuyFaceMannPersonDude
      @stayniftyGuyFaceMannPersonDude 8 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      ***** I didn't find a personal meaning,but did find a logical reason as to why the video might exist.
      It's a big middle finger to "modern art" and to people spinning fantastical meanings,"deep", and "existential" but irrelevant bullshit out of anything they see and touch.
      Especially when it's excruciatingly obvious that it's sole point is to be a series of logical cliffs.
      Everything escalates too fast, we get no real establishment or motivations for any character, and the viewer isn't given enough information to piece things together, especially when trying to cope with the strange nature of the information given. So if you were to try deduce some tangible meaning to it all you would be left wanting in more than a few areas.
      The person logging all this inconsequential information and doing the mental-gymnastics to try and siphon something of value from this video other than the entertainment needs to cut back on the dopamine and stop looking for assumed patterns.
      It's human nature to try and make sense of everything we come across, so what happens when humans start to make things purposely illogical and without any deeper meaning?

    • @Yagizino
      @Yagizino 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Staynifty By sense, i mean its telling a story.

      @stayniftyGuyFaceMannPersonDude 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      ***** A "story" with severely muddled details, no discernible point, and it begins and trails off (not ends) inscrutably.
      At best it could be considered a passable abstract college-student film short,at worst it can be considered a tone deaf, meandering abstract college-student film short.

  • @jeromealday614
    @jeromealday614 6 ปีที่แล้ว +43

    This made me cry somehow. Its just.. so beautiful. The simplicity of the dialogue covered in its vagueness is captivating. All throught out the film, I subject myself to find the meaning. But alas, I realized; It's not about the meaning all along. It's the expression of emotion through non-conventional ways. It's not meant to be understood literally, metaphorically and logically. It's the underlying tone , the emotions free flowing above the words and meanings.

      Mulchtown is about people in a small, mediocre suburb kinda fuckin' around doing nothing. It's a mood piece. Kinda funny, kinda nostalgic, kinda creepy. Think about why the author had the first guy working for NASA of all places. It was for contrast, to contrast with his job killing critters with a shovel.
      The worms are a bit more abstract than what you're saying. Everyone in Mulchtown has their own 'worms' they deal with, the worms are an embodiment of the kinda pointless mediocrity of Mulchtown. Mulchtown's not a _bad_ place, but it is a small place.

    Just now saw this. Re-watched for a second time to find my own meaning. I love how this can have so many different interpretations. They way i see it. The man in stories one and two, ok. I feel its a story of how he became a murderer. He always had a thing for killing small animals, bugs, etc. He even became an exterminator with the "Frog Team". Due to an incident he got in a fight with the Vice President. This shows his anger. All is forgiven and he keeps his job but the thrill is gone. So he moves to where he is now.
    I feel the woman speaking is to show a different side of him, a new life, where he's lost all control. The thrill of killing animals is gone so he must move to humans, as most killers do. I'm not sure about the suitcase thing, as somebody said before maybe burning evidence? As for the Carrots. I think this is a body. He kidnapped this person and put them in a bag. Two things could have happened. First, he might have already killed them and put them in a freezer (the AC unit) but something went wrong and out of anger from all the things he hates/is mad at (such as the guys throwing things at him), he flipped and shot the dead body numerous times. OR he kept them alive and then just killed them while thinking of everything that angers him. Then he dumps it in the lake. He leaves a trail as a warning. It's like an imprint of what he did without being blatant it was him. Notice how the cops come? They probably saw the trail and traced it to him, in which he leaves when he see's them.
    As for the cop's story. I'm not sure how this all ties in. My best bet is the real criminals aren't "worms" The cop seems to be in cahoots with the Mayor, which a lot of political figures tend to be corrupt. The only other person the cop does not see as a worm, is the character from the rest of the video, who I can presume is a murderer. The Cop, Mayor and the main Character all hate worms (aka critters) in some form. They are the "normal" people of society I can assume. This is a bit of a stretch but I feel the ending has the Cop realizing his evil doing and "comes clean" by bringing the worms to the evil the Mayor does, or, metaphorically, his house. So the Mayor has the Cop killed for snitching basically.
    Mulchtown. A town of normal people (worms) and a serial killer (character one), a corrupt Mayor and a corrupt Cop. I'm wondering why it's called Mulchtown. I feel, since Mulch improves the health of soil and overall makes it better and kills the bad plants, this town is ran like this. Kill the bad, it will improve the town.
    Just my 2 cents. I now the last story is a bit of a stretch, maybe I'll come back to it but I fully believe stories 1 and 2 involve the man's descend into becoming a murder.

    • @katv3433

      I agree with everything except the cop's story. Cop sees people who look like criminals/thugs as critters. He also sees all the people who are inconvenient to him and dont act like he expects them to (like his partner and people who kept passing him in their cars) as critters as well. He sees the actual murderer and and the mayor as normal people simply because he had no negative associations with them yet. When the cop comes to the Mayor's house and talks to him about his troubles, the Mayor starts perceiving him as an annoying critter so he kills the cop with a little garden shovel just like he did with the other worms he encountered.

    I could be wrong, but I think the worms represent how the police guy saw the world. being suspension of any and everyone. Until he realized that the Mayor told him to arrest most of those people because they were making too much money or "eating at his garden". Worms = the accused... Btw the main character is a retired hitman that later became a thief, retrieving "free snacks" because he can't afford food of his own... deep... even if the guy was a hitman/thief, I still felt sympathy...

    I've watched this video several times over the years, because I find the storytelling and atmosphere of it so bizarre yet calming and fascinating. Is this some kind of parody of a movie? The only one that I can think of that's this calming would be like shawshank redemption. Although Shawshank redemption has an actual coherent storyline, and this is just feverdream nonsense. I'm just curious if anyone has seen any movies that have a similar vibe or maybe just recommendations based on this?
