Our dog came down with it very fast in the late evening couldn't get a vet appointment until the next morning, My wife talked to a lady the her dog came down with it like ours did but was afraid that the dog wouldn't make it that long so the lady told my wife to give our dog she's about 6 lbs a children's vitamin cut in half beat it into a power mix it in a little water and put it in a syringe and give it to the dope a few moments later she was up and running around it was amazing so that will get her through the night and I can take her to the vet.

1.small breed female ( chihuahua etc.)
    2. Mates with larger male of another breed.
3.those pups will be draining her nutrients long before they arrive....if you're not aware of this ..and you DO CARE about your dog.. you better get ahead of the game in a hurry...once your little mom dog goes past a certain point, she can die in 30 -60 minutes and your barrelling thru red lights in the middle of the night trying to get to a24 hour vet clinic.
Ok...so you get there . You best have 120.00 or better ( depending) to get her across the countertop for a diagnostic... Then .they're going to do blood work to see what all of her counts are.. platelets, iron, calcium etc. This takes about 15-20 minutes.. and is over 300.00 ..depending on those results, you'll either take her home, or your off to the races with the clinic on her treatment,& recovery time at the
clinic..Wich they will want to keep her at a minimum of 4 hours for observation... that, depending on the clinic will be 1200.00 to start..so get ready!...however there are options.... prescribing calcium and vitamins along with rest is the cheapest and most practical option, if you don't have the time available to follow the prescription regimen, and noone to sub in for you on the recovery..this can be in the thousands if you turn your baby over to the vet...and REMEMBER MOST IMPORTANTLY....mamas milk is DONE WITH....NO MORE BREAST FEEDING AT ALL..THE PUPS MUST BE BOTTLE FED AND WEANED BY YOU , OR SOMEONE ELSE . THE REAL ISSUE with this is that you are severing the bond with the mother and her litter...they are going to cry out for her and she will do all in her power to reach them and feed them, even at the expense of her life
So purchase a body sock , or more correctly a recovery suit...it will be hard to watch all this unfold and it will show you the strength of a mother's bond and the unyeilding instincts to care for her children..
All of this has happened to me in the last 24 hours, I am alone, I never even knew of the term "milk fever"..but back at home she has snuck behind me to feed them repeatedly, and I've brought her out of her near comas twice...( Food & calcium, and rest away from them...and she's fighting me every step of the way...@ I am only on night ,#2!....I have tried to make several recovery suits, bc I can't afford anything at this point, so I've put them in a box up on the dryer where she can't reach them...hopefully I can get a few hours sleep...
This is a real serious issue...where if you don't follow the rules...you could very possibly find your puppies momma dead with them wandering around her body...SO IF you love your little best friend like I do...you'll do whatever it takes, no matter how uncomfortable she is, or the puppies are , or how sorry for them your going to feel...Follow the rules, & everyone lives..because your momma dogs #1. job Is to break them and feed her puppies..
You don't follow the rules? ..your out a large chunk of money with starving puppies , a dead momma dog and a completely broken heart.
    Peace to all ☮️☮️
