Oh my gosh…this is the sweetest with Mr. Hoying’s beaming smile the entire time and how the entire group encouraged him ❤️🎄🎶. I was crying and I don’t even know him!
Kirstin and Mitch grew up with him, after all. There was a PTX Parents Panel at one of the fan conventions (PentaCon), and Mike Grassi recalled that Mitch was so hesitant to ask about auditioning for the Sing-Off that he didn't bring it up until the evening before he had to tell the show he was going. The minute that Mike heard that Scott and Kirstin had permission from their parents to go, he was like, "Of course!' (You can find this online.)
Wow!! What a treat that must have been to see that performance! Thank you for sharing this with us Courtney. This brought tears to my eyes for so many reasons. This is a proud-papa moment for Rick and a proud-son moment for Scott. How Rick must have felt being on stage with the Pentatonix superstars and at the same time they are just his kids, because they have grown up with him. Did you see how he looked over at Kirstie so gently when she was singing and then that great hug for Mitch at the end. Just a wonderful show of love, family and friendship. PTX gives us so much more than just their music.
I'm sure very few fandoms would be critical of their artists' parent getting on stage, but I'm still so in love with how supportive Pentaholics are!! Mr. Hoying had nothing to worry about- we would have loved him regardless!
That was so special and so sweet! Rick Hoying did a wonderful job playing for them. Scott was so proud. Mitch getting a hug from Rick was so sweet too. They were all so supportive and encouraging of Rick's playing. Thanks so much Courtney for sharing this special event with us.
No way! I was at this concert too! I also went the night before, but only because I found tickets for $18! It was amazing! I can believe you were so close!
This was wonderful! That will be a great memory for him and his family. But think about this for a minute..... I do not know what Scott's dad does for a living. If he does not play guitar on a regular basis in front of a crowd then he is one of the bravest people on the planet. You are playing in front of a live audience of about 6000. It will be recorded and posted on You Tube for anyone to see in the world. By the way your son's group has millions of fans and followers. I played in high school up until age 35. The largest audience I played in front of was 40000 in marching band and about a 1000 in my semi-professional group and that was before the internet. The fear of messing up in what I was doing could be nerve racking. I can't begin to wonder how nervous he might have been. Again BRAVO Sir!
Wow! I saw them the day before and Scott pointed out his family in the audience. I wish Papa Hoying had played that night! And WHAAAAAT??? Is Scott's Dad even taller????????
That was incredibly beautiful. Thank you for posting your video. Yay for Papa Hoying. Did Scott or Kevin introduce the song and Mr Hoying? I know that Kevin normally introduces the song.
Sorry for the bad camera work at the end...it's hard to give a standing ovation and film at the same time 😂😂
😁😅 we understand...
I’m just glad you shared this with us!
