So many memories. That was my grandfathers tobacco factory. I pretty much grew up there.

Wow. I was just thinking how much of a blessing it is or must be to have someone buy it that as passionate as he is about your story and trying to keep things as original as possible. This could have gone in a horrible direction but on the surface it seems like he has been doing a great job honoring the history of your family.

Mark Ryan is my hero. Perique pipe tobacco is my favorite. I cannot wait to take the tour.

Mark Ryan and D&R tobaccos produce some of the finest proper tobaccos in the world now. While I've never met him, he's always been amazingly gracious and kind when I have emailed him in the past and helped me out in finding some of his more rare "Blender's Bench" tobaccos. The only company that still produces proper old world Turkish and Balkan leaf and blends of very fine quality, with no chemical junk added. I live in the UK and find it incredibly frustrating how these types and qualities of tobacco (also unadulterated) are just not available anywhere else. I stock up every time I get the chance to visit the US. Incredible pure tobaccos for blending. I also tube them sometimes. This sort of quality, care and variety should be really championed in the industry, but unfortunately the market is overrun by big companies pushing far more dangerous chemical-laced garbage or just simply inferior grades and strains of leaf.

L.A. Poché. I enjoyed the videos. My father origially grew perique as a young man, but was sensitive to it. He changed crops and eventually settled on sugarcane. He was Pierre Chenet's great great great great grandson. It was good to watch the process. Thank you for sharing this video. Lisa Poché Calhoun

What a great tour video Nate. you could feel the history and the presence of workers past during your tour. What a great treasure to have the Perique factory here in Louisiana and its just an hour from both you and I. I found it very interesting that no additions are made to the tobacco and all the tang comes from the natural fermentation under pressure.
Lets buy some barrels and screw jacks. lol Thanks for sharing my friends.
PS. With this cool weather how about some Nate and Rachel videos from the Pipe Palace.

Amazing!!! I am so...PISSED...that I missed this!! I just found out about the New Orleans Pipe Show TODAY!! GAH!!!!
I'll do my best to be there next year. Here's hoping they space it out a bit further away from the the Nashville Pipe Show. Man, I hope Mr. Ryan does a repeat of this tour...

It's looking like OHM is canceling D&R brands. Similar to what Atria did to Nat Shermans.
