Excellent! Lots of good information there 👍🏻 I found fusion to slow down and speed up as well depending on the update. I’m wondering if your lighting/shadow settings are too high. I’ve noticed in the past a slight reduction in graphics quality makes a big difference.
Great information on the 4th axis. I just got my machine about a month ago and i am looking to tackle the 4th operations soon. I am curious about all of the setup and workholding you are using. Is that a Lang plate you are using on the 4th? If so what model and what are the dimensions of the tombstone you are using? Also what riser you used under the 4th? A lot of questions I know but you seem to have a lot figured out and a great setup. Thanks
Thank you. Glad you found it useful. Yes they are Lang plates, the one under the rotary I had to drill to align with the T slots. The aluminum plate is just an adapter from the 4th to the Lang studs. It’s been a great setup, I spent a lot of time working on it in CAD with the whole machine and motion etc. the tombstones are I think cut from 4” square bar.
Thanks for that video Peter, very useful. I’m just at the point now where I’m going to put the 4th axis back into my X7 and start playing around with it. I’ve borrowed a Lang master tool to setup the Lang face plate, then I’ll start making some simple square and hexagon ends to some bar stock just to see how my cam is going. How did these parts come out for you?
Sorry for the delay! These parts turned out well, you can find them installed on new Mazaks if they picked our telescopic air blast nozzle kit from the factory!
Hi Peter, Hope all is well with you? Great vid mate 👍 On another matter, I’ve just received a Facebook ‘friend invitation’ from a ‘Kimberly Betz’. Any connection to you? Regards Robert
Hi Robert. All is well. Quiet on social media as I’m in this weird phase where I don’t want to post anything because I know it’s not polished…. I’m in canada, only a few Betz’s that I’m related to here, there are more in Germany though (where my dad is from).
Very cool! I’ve only dipped my toes into 4 axis milling so this feels very helpful! I hope to see how it turns out on the mill!
Thanks, I was in a rush so I did not add any machining pics or videos, I will maybe make a part 2 with the actual machining.
Thanks for making this video. excellent teaching style!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks Jonny. Good point, I have no issues while moving the model around but maybe that still is at play, I will try lowering the settings and see!
