Ren is a musical genius and probably the most original artist I have ever come across. Self-taught on the guitar, plays piano and bass along with other instruments, can sing and rap and is a genuinely nice guy who has gone through hell with his mental and physical health. You are definitely entitled to your opinions but clearly haven't had enough life experience to relate to a masterpiece like this. I hope you check out more of Ren's work and maybe your opinion will change. In the meantime, I will not be subscribing.
Wait, I hope noone "forced" you to watch it. ;) Question is, why wouldn´t an artist, who experiences illness to an extend, where it becomes a central part of the daily life, make it a topic? Can´t we just take a moment to be honest and talk about the elephant in the room or is this already "pretentious"? However, I think I know where you´re coming from and I understand, that we need to be careful not to fall for what could be a marketing trick. The great thing about Ren is, that unlike the "never ever pretentious Nirvana" he can be genuinely fun in his songs.

Crazier than psychosis? Interesting. I don't know too many artists who speak from that view. Trauma? Yeah, tons of voices from that view. Korn's "Daddy" is a great trauma peace. Eminem is FANTASTIC, but he has never faced psychosis. I have recently faced psychosis. It's a thing all it's own. Animal Flow by Ren is more traditional Rap, and is very good. I doubt you would like The Tale of Jenny and Screech, as it is more theatrical than I imagine you would prefer.

I think what most people latch onto with this song is self-doubt, having that inner voice holding you back, criticizing all the time. The first time I heard this song I thought “it’s alright,” but two things really grabbed me: the back and forth flow reminded me of Gollum and Sméagol from LotR; and I really took notice when Ren began to sing. Here is some additional information on Ren's story that I gathered from old newspaper interviews, articles, and Ren's public livestreams and posts. A handful of people frequently post an earlier version of my comment to various reactions that they copied and pasted verbatim, so if this is a repeat just ignore this comment. I keep editing the information, as needed, and have removed details about Ren that some found to be too personal, such as his full name and D.O.B. All the information here was gathered exclusively from sources Ren personally approved for public release. Ren is a Welsh musician/independent artist/producer, self-taught multi-instrumentalist. He pursued a career in music from an early age. In 2009, while studying music performance at Bath Spa University, Ren began to experience health issues and was struggling to attend his lectures, which eventually caused him to discontinue his studies and return home. In addition, Ren was signed by Sony Records in 2010 and was working on an album when his health deteriorated to the point that he was unable to go on; consequently, his contract with Sony was dissolved. Ren would later relocate to Brighton. Ren's illness often kept him in bed for up to 23 hours daily. Ren was initially misdiagnosed with depression, bipolar disorder, and chronic fatigue syndrome, which led him to experience psychosis and develop PTSD. It would take seven years before a doctor in Belgium finally correctly diagnosed Ren with autoimmunity, Lyme disease, and resulting damage to the brain, organs, joints, and PTSD. Ren eventually underwent stem cell therapy in the United States, which improved his health, but it has not been a cure. Ren is in Calgary, Canada for at least six months (Summer of 2023), undergoing treatments such as IV therapy and other interventions five days a week, as well as surgeries (wisdom tooth removal and cavitation surgery). His Canadian doctor discovered that Ren also developed a condition called Mast Cell Activation Disorder (MCAD), which has affected the myelin sheath in his brain, his thyroid, and adrenals as well as his bones/joints. Hence, Ren is receiving additional treatments for this previously undiagnosed condition. He recently took a break from treatments and returned to the UK to visit family and friends, and to produce some very ambitious musical projects to be released soon. Let's keep supporting Ren as he undergoes his treatments. Check out and subscribe to his channel; if you are a content creator, ask your audience to subscribe to Ren. Ren's YT channel just surpassed 1 million subscribers. and his videos have garnered millions and millions of views. Listen to some of his earlier work, like and comment on his performances, and let's lift Ren's spirits. If you are a believer, pray for him. Ren is an artist with something to say to the world, and his work is important in these troubling times. Someone has finally created a Wikipedia page for Ren, so there is additional information available.
It is crazy how the spike protiens of the lyme bacteria mimic'd the protiens in his own cells to cause the auto-immunity. I have commented before that Ren's health issues are an example of a Zebra. What do I mean? Health care professionals are trained if it sounds like a horse, moves like a horse, smells like a horse, you treat for a horse, not a zebra. This strategy helps the most people the fastest, at the expense of the zebras.
Maybe, but her handle is PINKMETALHEAD, and she likes Korn and Nirvana. Hi Ren couldn't be farther away from Metal if it were played as a polka. I love Ren, but I'd be REALLY horrified if absolutely everyone else did. What's really good that EVERYONE loves?? Vanilla ice cream... and Ren's not vanilla ice cream.
@@yonahgrossman7319have to say I agree with you to a point. I think perhaps a mix of the type of music this channel covers and the detachment from the content of the song, no matter how brilliantly it was delivered would not resonate with some and that’s fine. You are the first reactor that is not so happy with Ren. I think you should react to more songs. Ren is normally a rapper but every song of his is different. When you want his rapping skills, try to react to "Ren - Illest of Our Time" That is completly different than this one. Or "The Hunger" Ren is very talented and when you like story telling, you should try "Ren - The Tale of Jenny & Screech" Because this one is an actual masterpiece in storytelling. I think it's good that finally you started to react to Ren. Keep it up and do more Ren. I am sure you will be a fan if you listen to more of his music. He is independent too so that is another thing to consider. And he is a rapper, that can sing and play the guitar. He is good. Trust me :)
I don't think she will. Some people don't like Mozart. Some people don't like Michelangelo. That's okay. Anything liked by EVERYONE by definition appeals to the lowest common denominator.
First reaction of yours I’ve watched and honestly it’ll be the last. I know and understand opinions are retrospective but seriously you have missed and misjudged this masterpiece of writing and music skills. Maybe more life experience would be beneficial before disregarding a class artist the way you have. Good luck for your future ❤️
I hope you don’t get too many negative comments. You’re entitled to your own opinion and to voice it and I hope people understand that. Personally I think Ren is a genius and I think you could see that if you check out more of his music. There are people that think Elvis Presley was the greatest singer that walked on earth, personally I can’t stand his music but that’s just me. Just check out some more of Ren’s stuff before you write him off, no matter what genre of music you’re into he’s got it covered.
Yes, she’s entitled to her opinion, even though all I gleaned from her reaction was that she doesn’t like people talking about mental illness and she thinks performers talking is a bit “cringe”, so she was never going to like this. There is no point to her reacting to any of Ren’s work because most of it references his struggles. I appreciate the fact that she is honest, but apart from that it was a pretty boring reaction; basically just her sitting there playing with her hair. If this a negative comment, well, I’m being honest too. I like reactors who properly analyse someone’s music or even their own reactions to it; positive or negative.

You missed everything about this song, and thats sad. This is an example of an artist making music an art form again. You reference a lot of over-produced third party written industry vomit that you hold higher than true art. Listen to it again, seriously, I have listened to it over a thousand times, and am still peeling back the onion. As an example of why and how this is ground breaking, check out the charismatic voice's reaction to hi-ren, or ryker road's, or any of the massive amount of music and/or health care professionals. It is also interesting, that you exhault all the artists that will copyright strike or claim your content, but the one the lets you use their art for free, that one you cant be bothered to take the time to understand, lol.
Welcome to Ren. It's a wild ride. You need to get into more of his stuff. So many options. Try "Sick Boi" next. It's a good follow up to this. Explains his story a bit more. Different style too!
Eh, it's your opinion. Can't please 100% of the people 100% if the time but you would be in the approximate 5% who wasn't crazy for the song. If you do listen to more Ren, then maybe he will hit something you like as unlike many artists, his art is ALWAYS different.
wow girl you got a lot of growing up to do. go shopping or something you know how to do. not react to things that go way over your head. and talk about pretentious , you literally complained that the artist forced you to listen to it. how is that? did he call you up and threaten you? no you did it probably because someone paid you to listen to it.
You are the first one to react in that manner. I do agree with you on how the song does sound big headed somewhat. The message has been said so many times before. I will say that that the way he delivered his story is interesting. He does have a lot more material and all of it is interesting. Keep up the good work, it so good to hear someone go against the sheep herd and say what they really think.
I'm going to be honest I haven't listen to arts on your channel but don't think they have story anything like Ren was they misdiagnosed for years give meds for stuff and cause them to have psychosis and PTSD did they have recording deal with Sony and get sick and not be able to finish album there to Sick move back home to whales spend 23 hours a day bedridden doctor tell u its all in our head years later get the right diagnosis he has Lyme disease on top of going so long Misdiagnosed he has brain damage and Orang damage and Joint damage from Lyme disease he also Has ADHD he has autoimmune illness

Yeah, it aint for everyone. Maybe leave it for the grownups. I don't mean to be mean, not 'getting' something a lot of other people find profound is no crime, hellI I still think Bob Dylan is highly overrated, as a performer AND as a songwriter, so who who knows, right?
Well!,this is different!.Personally I never cared for Rap,nor hip hop, but,to each his own. This isn't my kind of music by even a stretch of the imagination.John M Guinto
What the hell? You're comparing Ren to Kurt Cobain? Korn "Daddy"? You can't be serious. It's not new? Name one other artist that did something similar. The only thing remotely close to ren is maybe Something by Manard James Keenan. But that's even a stretch. Kurt, Maynard, John Davis. These guys are/were poets. What Ren just did wasn't poetry. There was nothing abstract about it. There was nothing that needed to be interpreted. No metaphors or tongue twisters or vague descriptions. Like a shotgun to the face you knew exactly what he was talking about and if you were lucky you related to it.
I’ve listened to this hundreds of times… And I think millions of others have too. Can’t listen to it once?
Me too

Different style too!
you blew Rec on this one, first ever for me
Eh, it's your opinion. Can't please 100% of the people 100% if the time but you would be in the approximate 5% who wasn't crazy for the song. If you do listen to more Ren, then maybe he will hit something you like as unlike many artists, his art is ALWAYS different.
Que gran equipo
Very deep... deep in the soul. 10.5/10
I am shocked at your reaction. it went over your head.
You have the most gentle sounding talking voice. Do you sing?
pinky! good to see you kiddo
wow girl you got a lot of growing up to do. go shopping or something you know how to do. not react to things that go way over your head. and talk about pretentious , you literally complained that the artist forced you to listen to it. how is that? did he call you up and threaten you? no you did it probably because someone paid you to listen to it.
what got me she compare this to Korn daddy lol
Loved your reaction! Thank you!

I dont think she got it.
she don't get it because if she did she know this is nothing like Korn daddy
You are the first one to react in that manner. I do agree with you on how the song does sound big headed somewhat. The message has been said so many times before. I will say that that the way he delivered his story is interesting. He does have a lot more material and all of it is interesting. Keep up the good work, it so good to hear someone go against the sheep herd and say what they really think.
Thanks! He’s very talented, but this was just my honest opinion ❤️

Yeah, it aint for everyone. Maybe leave it for the grownups. I don't mean to be mean, not 'getting' something a lot of other people find profound is no crime, hellI I still think Bob Dylan is highly overrated, as a performer AND as a songwriter, so who who knows, right?
Whats really cringe is using the word cringe
