I am old enough to remember these guys when they first started out, I live a short distance from where Greg grew up and wrote lucky man at a very young age, I worked with a guy who lived in his neighbourhood and was a friend and dreamed that I might be introduced to the man (it didn't happen). Cant believe that all these years later I decide to pick up a guitar and have a go at playing this, thanks for a great tutorial Howard.
Fantastic lesson! I'm 73 and the way you teach this is very do-able for me and as complex as the music sounds you present it in a non imtimidating way. Thanks!!
Absolutely great. In high school everyone learned this song and Stairway to Heaven to show off with. A signature tune. A multitude of thanks for doing this gem.
I don't even own a guitar, I'm a drummer, but I thoroughly enjoyed watching you break this tune down. One of my favorite acoustic guitar songs. I enjoyed you explaining the little perhaps unintentional notes he hits in the song. I just chalk that up to a musician that is totally comfortable with his instrument and ad libbing his music. That's what makes a great musician.
Three songs that I have partially forgotten how to play since the 70's...this one, The Rain Song, and South City Midnight Lady. I'm back on track on this one...just by watching this video. Thanks for posting, Howard!
Out of curiosity you ever find a good tab/lesson for the rain song in standard tuning? I got a good chunk of the intro and verse by ear but some parts im missing.
Great lesson and important takeaway in "don't worry about the little anomalies, just play the song" -- which is of course what he did and it mutated over time (thanks for showing the evolution in detail).
Man that brings back memories.Brain Salad Surgery....hands down Howard you are the best guitar instructor on you tube...thank you...if everyone had music in their life there would be peace...
finally, someone teaches the double bend correctly. Greg actually showed this to me after one of his concerts. Awesome , awesome lesson. one little teenie tiny critique, I don't think the very first note (low E string) is a harmonic like it is in "Roundabout". It's just open E, then the rest is harmonics. Sorry to be so picky because this is one of the best lessons out there. thanks so much
Great job I’ve been trying to learn a song I’m a beginner I’m an old man. I got slow fingers but I’d love to be able to perform this song live one day it’s in my bucket list. Thank you you’re you and then there’s a young lady this teaching this song also on her TH-cam and you both have done an outstanding job. I will be following along and practicing and thank you. Happy new year.
Brilliant! Spot on rendition and superb teaching style. This is the first lesson of yours that I've stumbled upon. I will definitely be searching out more from you. Thank you Howard!
FANTASTIC !!! this is the best tutorial that I have seen on You Tube to play that wonderful tune, by far. ... BRAVO !!! I'm subscribing. And Thank You!
Hi Howard, just saw a beautiful acoustic solo from Greg Lake interview Q104.3, part 2. Maybe something too add? Love the teaching, greetings from Belgium
Thanks Howard, came to your channel while looking for this song and love the way you teach it. Subscribed and checked out the rest of your stuff and can’t wait to get back and get stuck into loads of them. Not sure if I’ll crack the Ian Anderson stuff though 😮. Thanks again from England.
What a amazing song and what a great teacher you are! Very informative video, I really got the song from start to finish, nd also you seem like a great guy and not just a great guitarist!
Thanks for watching :-) You can also look at it that way. I'm guessing you probably know already, but a Dm7 chord is just an Fmaj with a D in the bass - D, F, A, C
Just graduated from high school in 72. This song highlighted a transition in my life. They dont make music like this anymore.
Ur right! Such a good groove
No they don’t!!!!
What transition? And yes, we have Justin Bieber nowadays.
Hey there, I wasn't far behind you as my class was '75. But I agree with you with regards to what kind of music is written now.
This is the way all lessons should be done. The chord diagrams and tabs are a huge help. Well done and thanks.

Damn, now I have to learn South City Midnight Lady..

Love the dog cameo at 10 minutes!
There are many tutorials on this song, but IMO, this is the best with tabs. Thanks for the lesson and posting!!

Wow, thanks!
Thank you for your tutorial playing "from the beginning" with guitar like the original song.
My pleasure!
Oh yes, if you can, please do the keyboard solo for guitar 🥰
I would love to see the solo for this.
Super thanks for this, man! I wish you were my guitar teacher!
All the best from Manila PH! 🎉
Thanks :-)

@@247GuitarwithHowardHart Of course! I'll check out some more of your videos you're really amazing
Please do a video on Keith’s key d on guitar. That would be awesome. I’ve already serenaded my girlfriend with this song.
❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏 working on it
Wonderful!
Great lesson
What brand and model guitar are you playing? Sounds great
Hi - It's a Fender Paramount :-)
what do you think about the Am9 as x05500 ?
Hey Howard…I bow to you of course but I’m looking at the Dm7 arpeggio and wondering if it isn’t an F/D? Thanks for your fab lessons.
Thanks for watching :-) You can also look at it that way. I'm guessing you probably know already, but a Dm7 chord is just an Fmaj with a D in the bass - D, F, A, C
I find this song very difficult currently even taking it apart in sections? Don’t understand why? 😊
Hi teacher, I'm Mexicano, I don't speak english but can you teach me the sage ELP. PLEASE PLEASE🙏✨THANK. YOU.
Buen dia , quiero comprar esa leccion ,me puede decir cual es, gracias
Hi - There's no need to purchase anything... It's totally free on TH-cam :-)
what key is this in
Hi - It's in A Minor
@@247GuitarwithHowardHart thank you
If you compare reggaeton, hip hop, rap and other sounds😅, you can realize the music nowadays is an involution. 🎸
Do you ever get nervous when you make these videos or playing guitar in front of anyone? Thanks, Tim
Hi... Not really. I've been doing it a long time :-)
Thanks!
