They're still good in concert. Try one before you're sorry you didn't when you could've! 1. "Black Water" 2. "Long Training Running" 3. "What A Fool Believes"
Yes!! Raised them right. I had one cassette tape that was full of the best. This was one of the songs we played everyday. When he was 2 he discovered the Bee Gee's and was gone. He even became a musician because of them.
We had the best music in the 70s. I was 17 and this music was everything. I can remember exactly where I was, who I was with, and what I was doing when listening to this song.
Hey Dreezy! Your smile tells the story! You didn't need to say anything! Thank you for your comments though, they were very thoughtful!, it was interesting hearing how the music affected you!
Long Train Runnin, an absolute BANGER!. People are mentioning their best, but some have been left out. Long Train Runnin is my personal fave! People are right though, with The Doobie Brothers, you've got another fab catalogue of songs. Great reaction as usual ❣👍
I literally caught this 8 seconds after you posted with 0 views. Another superb reaction to another banger. Yes, you're listening to the good stuff. Doobies have a great library. This song was on radio. Luckily, I was into FM album radio by then. You've got an exceptional ear for excellence. It's always fun. 🤘😎❤
This is another favorite song of mine! Doobie Brothers are awesome! Black Water and China Grove and Long Train Running are also great songs by the Doobie Brothers.
I love this era of The Doobie Brothers. They had more of a Southern drawl to their voices early on. For a true masterpiece, Black Water is amazing! Later on, Michael McDonald became their lead singer and he didn't have that drawl to his voice. I listened to very little of The Doobies featuring Michael. So glad to see how this music makes you so happy! It did the same for us and we thought it'd be around forever!
🌸 it's so funny in your outro that you talked about if you have kids and that this is the kind of music they're going to be listening to growing up.... my kids are now 29, 28 and 27.... and this is all what they listen to because of me growing up and I used to quiz them as we were driving in my Volkswagen bus LOL and they probably know more about classic rock than anybody else their age.... so good on you for wanting your own children in the future to be introduced and enveloped in this beautiful music. 🤍
The key with any era of music is to appreciate the good ( because every time and genre has its great artists) but to stop listening to the bad (because every era also has terrible music which succeeds due to the machine behind it). As long as you actually listen, and decide for yourself what sounds good to you, you can't be wrong. Just don't let the music industry decide for you. That's the reason so many amazing artists are ignored, while pretty people with connections get the hits. Don't let anyone tell you that great music isn't being made today. It is. It just might not be what the labels see as "profitable ". The human talent is still there, and it doesn't stick to only one kind of music. And I'm a pretty old person saying this. No-one ever recommends all the garbage we also had to listen to in the past. 😂 Only the great songs. Like this one.
Master Class!! The song BLACK WATER in the 7th grade was my first listen and I bought the 45 rpm thanks to Mom and Dad growing up in Hawaii!! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎🎸🤟🏼
You have to get some sly and Family Stone on your channel!! Not only is this group the foundation of funk but it’s a whole vibe and scene… you can find some live performances - one of the best groups of late 60’s early 70’s. They were a highlight of the Woodstock music festival
I hope you know, you have only scratched the surface of this old music kick your on! There are literally hundreds of groups and songs from the 50's 60's and 70's!
This song's title explains your musical journey and why this music makes you smile. I guess you now realize Listen to Your Parent's isn't always wrong.
The Doobie's have such a massive catelog and their stuff with Michael McDonald is a different sound but still great! Black Water is one of my absolute favorites. Minute by minute, Takin' It to the Streets,
Just love watching your reactions to these old tracks and that smile on your face is so infectious, makes me smile with you. Another great Doobie Brothers track is Long Train Runnin' but be sure to react to the original and not the 90's disco remix
Black Water!! Their other songs are good, but Black Water is great! It's before my time, but I heard that one in high school and got hooked. My friends and I *had* to sing along once we found it.
Hey I want to thank you for checking out a tune from my growing up. I appreciate it especially since so much other music has come along, needing to be listened to. Pop/Rock, R&B, Folk, Country, Trance, Alternative, Metal in all its forms, and I don't know how many genres and sub-genres of Rap and Hip Hop, Dubstep, Kpop, Blues, Funk, Soul ... I mean, so much other good listening has come along, and where does one find the time, because it all deserves a listen. So thanks for listening to this music. I hope maybe you'll add it to the list of tunes you love, and everybody's list is long, so I'm grateful for what you did here.
Doobie Brothers are among the best. To me, their music is in two groups: those songs with Michael McDonald, and those without, like this song. If you really like this song, check out Home Free's acapella version. You may not believe it is 4 guys singing and 1 beatboxer. No Instruments! Check it out. You won't regret it. ❤❤❤
South city midnight lady and takin it to the streets. Their harmonies are incredible. CCR I put a spell on you please 🙏 Great reaction and Peace out 🙏 ☮️ ✌️You're making your Dad proud 😊
I was born in ‘68. You are correct! Today’s music sucks. More than ever. And I’ve been through several generations of popular music. This new music is the worst that it’s ever been. What passes for real music these days makes me sick to my stomach. It’s egocentric and has NOTHING to do with what MUSIC really is about. Musicians with integrity feel lost and can’t understand what people hear or see in this new over processed b.s.
Yay-good for you!!! You are so sincere, have a good heart and good head on your shoulders, your comment about what music (real music, and uplifting) your kids will listen to 👍🏻
One of the greatest songs ever, "Into The Mystic" by Van Morrison. Put your headphones on, close your eyes and get transported back to 1970. th-cam.com/video/syIUmrSJWAU/w-d-xo.html
I love the Doobies! They always make me happy still, just like in the 70’s. 🌸 Came back to say I danced around the house and sang all my favorite music with my daughter and granddaughter as babies. From the 60’s forward I exposed them to great music. No force necessary. Don’t wait until modern music rots their brain. Music can change your life. 💕
Other great Doobie Brothers tunes are: Long Train Runnin', China Grove, Blackwater, Clear As The Driven Snow, Rockin' Down The Highway, Without You, Nobody, South City Midnight Lady, just to name a few.😅 Original Doobies vocalists are Tom Johnston, who sang this song and Patrick Simmons. Tommy became ill, had to leave band for awhile and Michael McDonald was invited into the band, his sound is more R&B - What A Fool Believes, Taken It To The Streets, Minute By Minute. Great band, great music! 🎶🎸🥁🎹🎷☮🖤🤘
I'm an old head lol 67. Doobies, Chicago, Al Green. You are definitely finding the talent. I had lots of 45s. Plus my hometown and Green's is the same, Memphis❤
Glad you enjoyed the Doobie Brothers "Listen to the Music", their first hit song. I'll recommend "China Grove" from the album The Captain and Me, it's a rocker.
"Black Water" is a must listen. I like "Another Park, Another Sunday" as a softer side of Doobies. For rocking Doobies, try "Without You". This is a great band, their album "The Captain and Me" is a classic masterpiece. I saw them 2 nights in a row in 1976. Took my son to see them exactly 30 years later. If you explore here, you will find that the Doobie Brothers had a split personality. This is OG Doobies. Around '75-'76, Michael McDonald joined them as lead singer and stayed a while. Their sound changed to more pop oriented. My favorite Doobies is original Doobies.
We love it too. Another awesome group. Their songs always makes me feel gpod. " Jesus is alright with me." Yup raised my kids with this music in their background. They love it now too. And im glad you do too.
If you haven't yet, tell your Father he was right about music...and you love him too. I'm sure he will feel happy and proud. There will come a time when it's too late.
"The Doobs" another great group from the era!! I just listened to you reachtion and when you said you want to bring you kids up with this music great call!! My whole family was brought up on this era of music and my brothers and sister's kids were all brought up listening to this. They all (we all) love it and I feel great that were were all expose to the good music. Today's stuff (actually nothing past the 80 has been very good. No if you think Doobie Bros were good (and they were), I implore you to react to "He Ain't Heavy" and "The Air That I Breath" both songs by The Holly''s. I guarantee this would be an absolutely great reaction from you and would probably make you extend you list of all time favorite songs. I would imagine others in this group would confirm this. Keep it up!!
You must react to Long Train Running, you won't Regret it. there are two version in TH-cam, the Mix which i like the most and the Original Sound, both are Great.
Love watching you discover music I grew up on MDreeezy. I can see that you love it as much as I did 50 years ago. You're correct it's positive music with positive messages. Keep playing it and I'll keep watching. Thanks.
Young people need fun playful good music. When you feel good you send it out into the world 🌎 Have fun jamming with your Pops . Ps we didn’t listen either 😊 but opening your mind and growing is what life is all about
the good positive music gives us escape from our problems and a fresh start to face them every day. Bad negative music can destroy our attitude, or have hollow meaningless messages, and lies, the kind of garbage that can pollute our lives into believing there is no hope, spread hatred, tear us down, divide and conquer the human spirit. A song like Listen to the Music can include all of us together instead of divide us up at each others throats, and expunge the other negative, manipulative morons from our lives who don't want us to be happy. It starts with attitude. We are not to be blind to our problems, we just foster peaceful resolve and positive commnication and outcomes. This is what positive music can do for the world if you open the door. Music gives you the key to that door, open the damned door!!
What you are going to teach your kids is soooo right on. Listening to only modern music only harms our ability to recognize other experiences. I'm 77 yrs and the radio was always on a music channel in my house so I heard 40's all the way thru the 80s'. In my opinion music began taking a div in the late 80's when hip hop began. then gangster rap and the musical quality took a massive dive. Thank you young man for your appreciation of what I consider my music. Your kids will thank you.
We kicked up alot of sand to the Doobie Brothers By the time we quit traveling had kids starting in '75 and they didn't know anything but the artists we knew personally- now they get upset at their own selves that they know ALL the lyrics ;)
If you liked this, you will love Dobie Gray "Drift Away". Similar to this as far as celebrating the love of music but more soulful voice and a song that always uplifts your spirit. Along the lines of uplifting songs that I would have in the background for kids would be Johnny Nash "I Can See Clearly Now". I wonder if your Dad has heard those songs?? 2 songs that are more powerful than a drug as far as mood changing/elevating!!! I promise. Even if you don't react to them here as you're being steered to so much amazing music, please check out these artists that aren't quite as well known but so many can sing along because these songs are timeless. Keep on keeping on and always keeping it real.
Like your comments and excitement in hearing these tunes especially this super group the Dobbie Brothers and one of their biggest hits and most popular. The guitars , vocals and lyrics gets you in the mood to listen to this song and all great music out there.
*Bro! "Take Me In Your Arms," "Takin' It To The Streets," "China Grove," "Black Water"... so many to choose from next!* 🙌🏾💪🏾👊🏾
Long train running is another good one.
Might have to include Steely Dan to explore

Several Jems with the Doobies.
Old black water, China grove, taking it to the streets. Definitely worth their own side channel.
I see myself driving to the beach windows open, sunny day, listening to this song.
Have done it for over 50 years.

Keep pumping them out. More doobies, Jesus is just Allright, black water, taking it to the streets, minute by minute. To name a few.
We took this music for granted in the old days... I appreciate it more today because of young people like yous reaction to it.
Dark Eyed Cajun Woman, South City Midnight Lady, Another Park Another Sunday just for starters to their long Playlist of great songs.
This is another favorite song of mine! Doobie Brothers are awesome! Black Water and China Grove and Long Train Running are also great songs by the Doobie Brothers.
