Thanks for making this video. I'm in the same boat as you with this Big chap. Cracked leg and they are offering me $170 store credit. A slap in the face after waiting almost 3 years and $2000 dollars.
It's ridiculous what Prime1 is doing to their customers who ordered this piece, seems like 90% of the people who got it had issues as well. I kinda regret not getting it, but at the same time I'm glad I don't have to be stressed out about having a damaged piece that I now have to fix because the company can't provide me with a replacement part.
Yeah brother. A lot of people have received damaged Big Chap. This issue is so stupid, cuz its a pretty great statue otherwise. But all these companies just seem to be taking a dump on us and expecting us to deal with it.
I think there's a lot of new collectors in the hobby who don't know the value of what they should be getting, so they accept cut corners because they don't know any better and companies make easy cash off of it. Deposit prices (Queen Studios) are through the roof, shipping prices are nuts, and yet we get statues with half-assed paint jobs and figures with reused head sculpts and reissues left and right instead of new, innovative collectibles. It's disappointing, but what's worse is that so many people (not just the companies) are ready to fight you about their favorite company instead of believing they deserve better.
I agree with you! The hobby is special (and expensive). Collectors invest so much of themselves into the collection and I feel the companies can do the same!
There is not excuse for them to not provide high end pieces and great customer service at the prices we pay for this stuff. And these are all luxury items. nobody NEEDS anything they make.
The hobby needs to shift into a wait & see the final product, before pulling the trigger. Even if it means missing out, which rarely happens anyways. I agree with you 100% man. What a bunch of Connivers they've turned into.
Yeah, I think a lot of people have a FOMO, but like you said, most of the time you can wait and see. Pieces like this are harder though when there was only 350 made between the standard and DX.
Finished the whole video. I honestly think the problem is some of these licensed companies are getting too big. They don’t have to care or give the same customer service they used to because the money is coming in so much easier now. While I agree breakages are part of the hobby, store credit isn’t the answer especially with the huge price point. I also think it’s crap about censoring negative feedback. I’m blocked by two different licensed companies but that’s the world we live in. All information is censored and manipulated now.
Yeah, and why should they care if people still keep buying from them? I'm getting over this hobby. Soon I'll be done. There is much easier hobbies to have. lol
Man, I always love the honesty you put on your videos. I hadn't seen this video until know, and I found it since today I just canceled my Big Chap action pose. The main reason, the shipping costs. 800 $ for the economy shipping. It's a joke. I held the order over the last six months in hope to receive some good news from them but finally things remained the same. In addition to that there were all theses issues stuff and all that finally made up my mind. At this point I' m getting to fed up with this hobby. The attitude from many companies, specially the biggest ones is just disgusting, they treat us like garbage because they know that another customer will end up taking your place. They just destroy all the delusions and motivation you put on a future statue. Nevertheless I''m starting to put my eyes on smaller companies which are now taking its place, which I imagine will take care of its products quality at least at this stage, and certain custom makers on whom I trust. Keep on making these great videos! Kind regards from Spain. Luis.
Thanks Luis. And you and I are on the same page. I've really cut back on these big companies, and honestly in the hobby as a whole. It just reaches the point where you get burnt out from dealing with kinda stuff.
I agree 100 percent. It gets really old and unenjoyable when you have things piling up needing repair. Never mind all the hassle that goes along with it. As soon as you repair/modify a piece, it is no longer an out of the box factory original.
Hello! I can feel your pain…you are absolutely right in what you say…Things will change if everyone decides to stop buying these statues until things change…the problem is that maybe you, me and others will do this , but there will be 500 who will continue to buy these things... you said that in your room you have probably 15 statues that need to be fixed and also I see here on TH-cam many collectors who also have many statues, very different from the prototypes (and that probably they have already fixed) and I can’t stop thinking why they haven't stopped this sooner. the answer is easy: because they wanted the figure… that is why it is very difficult to ask people to stop buying when they also really want a figure… At the end the fact is that this means that people like me who start this hobby now, will never find good figures for less than $1000 and we will have to deal with these problems... there are also some collectors who sell their high end collectibles that they bought for $400, for the triple because if they want to buy new figures that are no better than the old ones in lots of cases, why sell them for only $400 when they can ask for $1500? I mean, there are a lot of people playing this game and fir me the current situation is not only the fault of the companies... we are also guilty in some way: those who buy and accept, those who sell for triple, the companies. …that's my opinion and again, I’m sorry about your figure.
They made some replacement parts but I think early receivers of the piece have used up that allotment with their breaks. I had to destroy a whole museum version, base, wall and all for a new one and the tail still doesn’t sit right on the new one even though they were supposed to inspect, the previous ones tail would have fit, but I had to break it, and they forgot the rubber feet, took them 2 goes to send the right ones. Now my DX I’m waiting on the replacement DX head that had a dent in the dome, I just hope it’s all over with after that. For such an iconic and expensive piece, they should have reinforced the whole body with the rod, not made it hollow, the head certainly isn’t, making it top heavy, plus agree the tubes should have been seperate. It freaks me out having to smash parts on a piece and then rely on them to send out the part later, will it arrive ok and will it fit? All their parts vary and they even ask you to mod them yourself if they don’t fit. Seems so backwards and adds stress to the buyer having to smash their statue first. Not good enough! Thankfully I have only 3 pieces left with them I really want then I can slow right down on this stuff.
I'm glad you got a replacement! But honestly it makes me even more made that they don't treat all customers the same. Why should we get boned wile others get taken care of? If they gave out replacements, as saw the need for more, why not make another run of parts like they have in the past for other pieces? But to leave us with broken shit while on the other hand taking care of a select few customers is more shitty that just screwing us all.
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles oh I completely agree. They told me a few weeks to make a new head which they showed me once ready, another collector got a whole new body (nchanzplace I think) Seems as though if you purchase real early that’s your only chance at parts, if you have economy shipping you get it later and may be in trouble, however they should make replacements later regardless but they have so many projects they probably don’t want their factories held up. Their CS has definitely become a horrible experience. Seems like P1 is no less immune for issues with aliens as with many other companies in the past with damage in transit. Their resin has flex to help with shipping but mine leaned because of that and it hasn’t helped peoples rear tubes and hips from breaking. This big chap has been a disaster for sure and fewer in peoples collections than the edition size states due to these damages. I had the same issue with buying the P1 fugitive from sideshow, I received mine within days of it being released and sideshow said they have absolutely no replacement parts, messaged P1 they helped me when sideshow wouldn’t but once again why aren’t they making more replacements? Sending these pieces back is the only way they may listen and actually have replacement parts for others.
Isnt it possible to have a class auction lawsut ? I mean, for example japanese companies target and delete anime amv fan videos all the time ignoring that their laws have no autority outside of japan " like fair use " . Yet when they sell us broken stuff and make hundreds of thousands, we cant demand back our money or replacement with our own buyer protection laws !?? I doubt such unilateral claims will be tolerated .
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles With such a demand, a judge could probably easily put a ban/warning on their products to be sold in a country ? Until they start to behave like a legit seller and accept their responsibility . When they see that they can potentially have buyers cut off by law, I suspect they will rethink their current strategy of ''not picking up the phone for a dissatisfied customer '' very carefully .
You’re 100% right Jason if we don’t hold these companies or artists accountable they will continue to give us the customer service we are receiving. As buyers if we continue to buy like this we are just pushing the allowance of this treatment.
I agree with you 100%. I have worked for UPS for 22 years and it baffles me the way companies choose to ship packages. I am in no way saying it's not the shipping dep. fault but so many times I see packages destroyed because of the fault of the manufacturer .I don't understand why companies don't double box their statues. Anyone who is into the statue collecting hobby knows the value of the original box yet companies choose not to do so. I know big bad toy store gives you the option to double box which is nice. I understand this will cost statue companies more money but let's be honest all they do is jack up the prices every year the least they can do is work a little more with the consumer. Sideshow is pretty good when it comes to replacement part's they have worked with me in the past and have been nothing but helpful, but I heard about prime one which steered me away from them. Which Is why I passed on a statue I really wanted from them The lord of darkness 1:3 scale which I still kind of regret but it is what it is. Anyway sorry about your statue I have been in the same boat before and it sucks.
I agree. And to your point, that is the case here. This is 100% due to poor packaging on the part of P1. Big Chap was not properly supported in the styrofoam, and that is what has led to so many damages. I don't see this as UPS's fault.
For sure. Back in the day companies would take pride in making sure the piece is the best they could do, now, it's just a revolving door of pieces they are pumping out.
So i just got the Superpowers Harley Quinn, which i wanted for years. Very satisfied. I'm admiring those 1/3 scale, these huge collections you guys have and so on, but i gotta say... paying such a HUGE amount of money (it's frankly ridiculous to pay 1500+ for a statue IMO, you really need to have money taking up too much space to justify that).. it better be fuckin' perfect. They better feliver that thing personally to your room, assemble it and wipe it off and kiss your feet while they're at it. No even talking about the ridiculous markup for "exclusive" editions with a head or two more.. and for that you pay 20% more? They really know what they're doing because there will always be a person rich enough to buy this and if it's just for bragging rights.. Honestly, i've heard "yeah but i really don't like that statue too much" in collection tour videos.. then why did you spend 2k on it again?? Had a look at statues i liked.. Gosh some can be 8k or even 10k! And are three feet tall with a two feet wide base!!! ..the fuck?! xD This should be the exception and it feels like it's the trend now. Why is there no 1/6 or 1/5 scale of the big chap alien. Same everything but smaller, but i digress: The FOMO is too strong. I love this stuff but guys, we gotta turn the dial back or else it'll get more expensive and more shitty every year since people buying that often have enough money that it's just "whatever". Sometimes they didn't even know the name of the character they bought a statue of. These are the people that drive up your prices. Same with Stern and their pinball tables. Aftermarket is ridiculous! I really wanted to see if i can get a HMO Morrigan or Mai, but hah, 3-4K? No! Now i didnct want to offend the hobby, but i feel like everyone can and should do their part in this. If you don't buy, they'll feel it. A petition is meaningless, as are comments.Yes and people being bored because of Covid and "starting collections" because they can afford it doesn't help. Hopefully we can go back to somewhat reasonable prices one day.. Also feels like some companies see scammers and their price hikes and said to themselves: hey we can do that too lol!
i feel you man. i got out of statues a long time ago. it seems when the 3d printing came along they started pumping out pieces over night. the market is flooded. everything is just bigger and more expensive over more unique and more quality.
You said it all. We buy high end collectibles. We expect what we buy to be quality for the high prices. We as collectors do not want to repaint this, fix that, add that etc. it’s a sick sick joke. The real ones know when you find a company or custom artist that does quality with minimal fixes keep them around. I find this hobby to be a joke to others. Why do they support subpar work. Why is it every proto is better than the acutal thing? In construction a rough draft isn’t better than the final protect. Company’s are jumping out work to steal money and get fat and rich. Sadly such a joke. Great video but this topic needs to be throw in there faces.
I'm not a high end collector by any means but I enjoy what I collect and I do feel you guys who are dedicated and put these companies where they are today by spending thousands with them are being shortchanged big time. No piece should ever arrive broken or needing a repaint, totally unacceptable. The only way to get your point across is boycotting their work en masse. You didn't name the company or the bust in question but I loved the huge clue in the way you framed the video 😂. And yeah it was way too much money for a terrible sculpt, when I first saw it shown off I was quite surprised this one particular person was happy with it....it was/is quite bad. Couldn't take my eyes off that Ash behind you....exquisite! Love your videos and thankyou for speaking out 👍🏼
Something similar has happened to me recently with a P1 Sauron EX Statue. It has arrived with a broken knee. Now I have to deal with my retailer and he has to deal with Sideshow then they claim to P1 and going back the chain. Now we are waiting for a reply and let's see how it ends. But what really bothers me it's that nowadays you pay houndres or thousands of dollars for supposed luxury items that they charge you for on the same price tier, and you have to deal with these kind of problems and the quality it's far away of being a luxury service. More than 1'5K statues that are not properly handled and packaged, infamous and poor customer service it's not acceptable as a customer point of view. It's a shame but as a lesson learned this has been my first and last product acquired to Prime 1. They have shown they don't deserve my hard earned money. I always thought that the best claim from our customer's side is to not spend more money in any products from them. Usually it is said that you get what you pay for. These companies give much more less than that.
Sorry to hear about that. This whole thing is just ridiculous. I'm kinda new to figures/statues and so on, after having mostly collected movies for the longest time, and I've been drooling over a lot of the stuff from the likes of Prime 1. I guess I'll stick to making my own displays from more affordable items, since I couldn't even imagine spending all that money and having it arrive in a broken state.
It for sure sucks more on the higher priced stuff because it's more of a kick in the dick when things go bad. Making displays for lower priced stuff is awesome! I've seen some get displays out there...maybe some were yours lol
Sad to hear that but you are not the only one, they don't want to help the buyers even knowing this piece have a lot ot defects. This is a fact Prime1 doesn't care anymore about their customers.
If you drop that kind of money there should not be any kind of problems. If there is they should honor it and take care of it. Because their customers are taken care of them. They can only do this so long before they will go out of business. The word will still get out no matter how many comments they delete. Good video man.
I completely agree with you. For the price point we pay, we should NOT need to touch these statues/figures up. I collect 1/6 scale figures and Hot Toys really messed up Pennywise IMO. I don't like the fact i'm going to need to sort the collar and weather the outfit. I'm sorry for what happened to your Big Chap, unacceptable.
I feel this though. A lot of companies I collect, like figma, aren’t really improving with their technology but the prices are going up and they come with less accessories. I guess it’s the inflation and market but god damn it sucks
I agree with you 100% when we pay 2000 for a statue you shouldn't have to worry about anything being broken and they should be bending over backwards for you!!
Its beyond crazy how the hobby changed lately. I 100% agree with everything you said and especially the part where you talked about certain companies deleting negative comments and blocking you when you dare to speak up sounds VERY familiar, which is crazy and very unfortunate to say the least. i have had my fair share of dissapointments where i reached out to the companies i bought from and basicly was told that it was my problem. eventually it came to the point where i sold most of my high end stuff and went back to collecting action figures because i didnt feel like taking a risk anymore. I live in Holland so you can probably imagine how difficult and expencive it is to have these busts etc shipped over here.
I hear ya. And I can only imagine how much more of a pain it is to deal with as far a import fees and things like that. I often think about doing the same as you and just buy action figures only.
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles Oh trust me man, import fees etc are getting worse and worse every year and just straight up feel like theft. Action figures and statues on the smaller size have always been my main collectibles and it really felt like a relief getting back to that. When i see your collection though i do miss it! Bobtheghost_
That whole Asmus fiasco just seems to keep getting worse and worse....It's almost laughable now. I feel so bad for those that were soooo excited to be getting a decent Ash. 😔
Sadly I had to cancel my Big Chap order because of the extra shipping charges. I also canceled The Doom Slayer which I was really looking forward to but, I couldn't justify the $3000 price any longer. With the rise in prices and drop in quality I've decided to end my collecting day's.
A company should take both the negative and the positive reviews with thier community And learn to build off of that Ultimately it was us the customer that made their company successful I agree with you a 100% I look at these purchases as investments and they should be treated as such
I feel your pain. You have an amazing collection like many of us, but with the push by these studios to release statues quickly, sideline quality control, demand money upfront for something you may or may not like, and increase their prices to astronomical levels (a bit our fault and the ridiculous aftermarket markups we inspire companies to mimic), this hobby is going the way of most of them. A lot of rushed bad quality products that look new and shiny on day 1, but soon turn to salvageable junk with drooping silicon faces and paint chips. And repairing a statue of any kind is a NO GO for me. Its an immediate return. The money you paid is not broken or incomplete. Why should I accept broken garbage for something I paid full price for in good faith?
You speak the truth man. I think you're completely right. And yeah, we absolutely shouldn't have to learn to become painters to be in this side of the hobby.
Hey, thanks for making this video. I've just started getting into the hobby, but did research for a few months before I decided where to spend my money. It's been really, REALLY difficult to scope out trustworthy companies due to all the problems you've listed above. I also feel like as a community, the people who engage in this hobby are largely non critical. Makes sense, as companies largely discourage it and there's a large amount of sunk cost fallacy going on. Still, it's due to critical voices like yourself that I dodged a couple bullets and found a deal that works really well for me. Hobbyists could really improve the quality of this market by funneling more people like myself away from the bad and towards the good.
I’ve never had any issues with Prime 1 personally but I just can’t support a company with such a negligent response to complaints and shoddy quality control. The only way things will change is if people en masse stop giving them their money but I can’t see that happening
I agree with you completely and after I'm currently on the way out from the hobby. I've always supported Prime 1 but with the rise in costs and shipping, it's definitely something that I feel I shouldn't be a part of anymore. Add on the turnaround time, the delays and your statues being in route for at least 3 months, it takes the fun out of Collecting. Thanks for sharing your thoughts .. I subscribed.
It's like EVERY review I've seen for this Big Chap piece is either broken or flawed in plain sight. It is INSANE how the quality factor in high end collector pieces is beyond poor, with no reimbursement for company error. I always want to get these epic pieces, and I have grabbed a couple in the past, but I simply can't bring myself to spend big $ for something low quality these days... Its almost like you need video/photo evidence of your individual product before you buy? Sad that there is no care factor anymore.
I’ve only been collecting for about 18 months myself. I started off with little stuff. Rubbish really then it just seemed to grow spending more and more. Just lately I’ve been spending thousands with prime 1 most of which is pre order but the stuff ive received so far has been good. Except for the very first alien product I bought the alien queen aliens wall art which arrived broken. So now I will just have to wait and see if I get a replacement part and if I don’t even if I have to pay the postage myself the little fucker is going right back. This video was VERY informative especially being a beginner at this. I also have a few other things in mind to order but after seeing this video I very well may not bother. But then who do I buy from if all the company’s are the same? It’s a very interesting thought. You either buy from these companies and get shafted or give up the hobby you love. It seems to me it can only be one or the other. Like I say I’ve only been doing this for 18 months and I’m 58 years old and I often think I’m to old for it anyway I don’t know. If you think about it these companies are starting to make eBay look good 😂 and that is bad. Even with them you get a full refund plus postage and don’t pay the postage back. If PayPal worked the same way as these company’s you would have them by the balls. But it truly is a shame that things are like this.
First off, welcome to the hobby! You are never too old to get into it. 🤘🏻 Other companies can be as bad, but Prime 1 is the WORST offender. Never before has a company done what they did with this to its customers. They best thing you can do is vote with your wallet. There are a lot of other companies out there who do a better job with respecting its customers.
These statue companies are blaming the shipping carriers. One of those “we packed it secure but once it goes out and travels 7000 miles to you by DHL or Fed Ex, we can’t be responsible. If it fell off the truck, that’s carriers issue”. They have what they choose to call “plausible deniability”… The owners of these companies are wealthy and they know many of the people in this hobby have disposable income, because otherwise people wouldn’t. The average person in this hobby has to be doing ok financially to buy Uber expensive statues year in and year out without having to choose a statue over rent. Let’s be honest about that. This is why these companies don’t care…they know who their audience is, and because people are rubes who will put up with anything these high end collectibles companies do, it will continue
Prime 1 knows they screwed the pooch when designing the packaging for this guy. It's hard for them to blame shipping carriers when the vast majority of these show up broken.
All companies are taking advantage of adult collectors whether it be outrageous prices or poor quality or even availability. You have a wonderful collection and are very talented at repainting, vastly improving some of your statues. Maybe it's time to just enjoy what you have already acquired at least for a little while. Are there some older pieces you passed on that you wish you had purchased, maybe it would be fun hunting for them instead of buying from companies that only care about your money. Don't be to discouraged, take great pleasure in that outstanding collection you have built over the years.
Thanks! That's a great point. And truth be told, I have slowed down. I only have a handful of open orders, and most of those are with custom companies. I think in a year or so I will be out for the most part.
It wasn't prime1, but the time I had this happen , I would have had to pay shipping back. I paid to have someone fix it. Been arguing this about Games workshop games for years. Games suck and prices sky rocket, and ppl just keep paying it. The statue market prices have shot thru the roof in the last couple years. If you did this in eBay (sent faulty items), you'd loose the shirt off your back giving ppl their money back.
I just got this same statue today 5/1/24 after waiting forever for waitlist and purchased the one with the wall like this. And Unfortunately like many others have many breakages. Unfortunately one of my dorsal tubes not only cracked but chipped off into pieces. The toe nail was broken and the heel of the alien. Did you ever get any resolution for the breakages?
Plus the money spent on supplies to fix it and the time which you never get back...resale value drops on damaged items 😪...even TH-cam hides the dislike clicks
Customer service doesn’t exist anymore because they know people are going to buy regardless. It’s sad. People don’t know how to take a stand against shit like this anymore and just boycott companies that treat people like this. People just want stuff.
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles I'm getting mine through Secret Compass. They offer a complete refund with breakages. I think most North Americans getting this piece went through them.
No, it’s different. P1 shipped them to me and others on a container as well, yet we received ours months ago, and those that went in the container were shipped economy. So shipping delays aren’t the issue with Secret Compass getting those out to customers. Heck, even this Big Chap was shipped on a container to me. Took 2.5 months shipping time to get it. Not sure why you haven’t gotten yours too.
I’m sorry you getting stressed out,but you’re right costumer service is BS in a lot of places, you get something broken and you gotta come up with the money to ship it back!that’s unacceptable man, There’s gotta be a way to make these companies change their ways, like start a petition with peoples signatures and the whole nine yards, something has to be done.. I’m here to support the cause 100% brother…
I just wanted to thank you for all the great videos you make. If it wasn't for you I would not havre known about the smaller, more affordable Shout Factory The Howling statue that I now own and love. You are such a great champion of the hobby and this video is clearly from the heart. I just received my NECA American Werewolf Kessler Wolf and I think you would love it. Best wishes to you and The Slaughtered Lamb!
Though beats, but thanks for the video. I really like the look of the upcoming 1/3 Geralt, and this makes me want to wait until others receive it. Keep rocking!
If companies have done as good a job as they can, realistically, for a mass produced product but you want to tweak the paint or add "real" hair or whatever out of personal preference, then that's fine. But you shouldn't HAVE to resculpt or repaint or repair just to make the product look something like acceptible. If the likes of Asmus and Prime 1 (and others) think it's cool for customers to have to do that, then they should stick to selling resin model kits for 100 bucks, not be charging hundreds or thousands of dollars for figures and statues.
I don't blame ya. There are still some good custom artists out there that are well priced and do great work. But I am already slowing down and selling off a bunch of stuff. I think in a year or so I'll be pretty well done with the hobby.
Yep I mine was damaged too, I repeated it myself since prime 1 didn’t have the body. They gave me a 85$ reward point. Such disappointment. I think these companies know how obsessed collectors are so they milk it as much they can.
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles I think 95% of production had damages, there’s so many people on Facebook groups posted damaged big chaps, one had an leaning problem.
Dude, I think I'm a pretty fair minded person when it comes to collectibles, the companies that make them, and their various customer service engagements. I can see when its hype, or people making a bigger deal about something that really isnt all that, unreasonable expectations, etc. But Prime 1 CS sounds like the biggest load of BS ever. Not only is it a kick in the teeth but it's pretty insulting. If you're making statues, PARTICULARLY statues, you need replacement parts. Full stop. No replacement parts = your problem/you fix it. But the worst is not even giving you a proper refund, only a very small store credit. To me, this feels quite literally like a f*** you to the customer. What if this was the only item Prime 1 has ever made that you liked, what if you bought this as a gift and you're not a collector, what if this was the only statue you ever planned to purchase. What if, and wait for it, after your shitty experience with their customer service you had no intention of ever purchasing from them again. Sorry to hear about your troubles, man.
Keep calling them out on their poor quality. I was close to buying that Trick or Treat studios Annabelle doll until I saw your review pointing out the poor quality.
Lol happen to read some comments people talking about getting it from Secret compass and how they canceled due to shipping. So I checked and they have it in stock. Got my fingers crossed hope I get a good one and no damage. Went with deluxe. Funny thing went back looking for those comments and they were gone. Like you said about them deleting them.
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles They had both versions in stock. As of yesterday. Glad I jumped on it as they are sold out. Is a excellent piece .Fingers crossed.
I appreciate this video. I'm dancing around getting my first prime 1 (Swamp Thing). But with this feedback, and the price on the figure. I can't afford to take the risk on a broken $1200 statue. Do you have anything from XM Studios? Are they any good?
Bro yu stated nothing but facts bro… all these companies do is make Freddy Kruger Michael Myers Art the Clown Spaulding Bill Mosley Jason and all the hella overly used slasher and horror peeps.. bro reason why I stopped collecting superhero’s and shit tired of seeing Batman shit and Superman ever damn year nothing new.. so many good horror films and monsters slashers and such that doesn’t have one Collectable but yet we pay hundreds thousands for a custom Michael Myers that didn’t look that much different or unique from a TOTS or Neca.. it’s all overdone overprice and it’s getting boring collecting the same shit all year round..
I really hope the main reason we don't get other characters is just because of licensing. But I have a feeling they only make what's popular and forget about the rest.
So crazy. It's sad to see prime1 go down this path. The paint has been rough. And this information is bad. I tried to share it on the fb group. That didn't workout 🤣
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles I am waiting on this statue and I'm very nervous. I can actually do some good custom repair myself. But it depends on how bad. Honestly I'm getting close to done collecting for a while
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles I'm waiting on it from Secret Compass. But I'm concerned. I don't know how their policy is either. If it's broken I'd probably just have to return it to them I guess. If it's minimal damage I'll probably fix it. But if it's like a whole leg crack or something I guess it's going back. I really want to order the Prime1 Paul Atreides statue but this Big Chap situation is stopping me from pre ordering.
I think Secret Compass is good about returns, but they can take forever to ship things. I have had stuff for months now that they haven't even sent out to their customers.
I would not accept this. I think I would contact my lawyer. I don't know how the law in USA works but I'm pretty sure, that here in Germany, it is against the law what they do. Sideshow on the other hand, great customer service. Received a damage Darth Maul statue last week and already got a replacement from SS. I can only laugh if you US guys rant about shipping costs. Here in Germany we had to pay 300-400$ shipping way before corona + 19% taxes and customs fees. Now we have to pay double or even more. My Hush Batcave went from 289 to more than 800 and that's for economy. xD
That is true on you guys and shipping. lol I have always felt bad on how you guys get boned so hard on fees. I don't know how you even stay in the hobby at the way things are nowadays.
Contact a lawyer? What the heck is a lawyer in Germany going to do with a product made in China? Yeah, Prime 1 is a Japanese company but operations are in China. What is your “international affairs” lawyer going to do? How much is it going to cost you? I’ll tell you how much, way more than the statue itself, lol. Easier said than done.
@@narcissist3668 When you sell a product to a country then you are under the law of that country and not the country of the origin. Other than that we have insurances here in Germany so it won't cost me a single penny.
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles Yeah, but if you want those statues you have to pay the price. It's really insane what we have to pay for this stuff. I think I paid about 10000$ in shipping and taxes in the last 3 years. :(
Prime 1 Next Level showcase's are like the Neuralyzer gun from Men In Black. New PO's make everyone forget the BS. Their FB group is full of nazi mods and delusional fanboys. like many collectible company's recently, THE QUALITY DOES NOT REFLECT THE PRICE RANGE. That 1/3 Joker was abysmal and I promise you the 1/3 Predator will come out looking like an 800 dollar statue. The fact that they didn't address this tells you everything. My first taste of the Bait/Switch was XM predator. The paint job is terrible and that statue was $2000 4 years ago! Best advice would be dont give into FOMO and wait until final production is revealed. Collectors WAITING so long for a release only to get a dud is the most disheartening. What other industry gets away with this?
THis needs to be posted on every forum. Every word you spoke is the truth. And speaking of that Pred, They jumped the shark with the $900 1:3 bust. $900 for a 1:3 bust? GTFO
Very sad to see the hobby going this way .... I got out of collecting two years ago. I could see things becoming shoddy but not this bad .. all the film and movie company's should withdraw the licenses So not to be associated with the likes of prime one . O and hot toys are a bag of shit as well 😡....... Great video man well said 🙏✌️👍
Completely crazy how prime 1 and other companies are going about there business and customer care. I don't see things getting any better either to be honest.
I don't get why anyone would continue to buy anything from the same company that has already seriously fucked them once. No matter what they are selling in the future, I wouldn't buy it. That's just me though. The right thing to do is support the good companies and expose the shitty practices of those who screw you.
So glad I did not buy this one. Read way too many problems with this piece. Went with Xm and so love the pose on it. Have that hive alien black variant coming to. Pass on prime 1 alien 🤣
Sorry man, I only recently got into collecting like a year ago and I'm already done with Prime1 and don't think I'll go for any future statues from them due to things like this
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles Yeah I'm glad there are other companies who still seem great so far at least. P1 has such great concepts and licenses though that its a real shame they are doing this to themselves.
I blame the ups and fedex drivers just throwing the boxes around. They don’t care. I bum rush the truck whenever Im expecting my package. Yelling I got it! We could get orders in with bad packaging if the shippers weren’t animals. I watched the ups guy with my hunters victim just slam it off the truck onto my dock ramp. I get statues shipped to my work cause we have loading ramp. Figured this would help with less breaks. I have a mean mug face when they show up just assuming shits already broken
This is also a great point. The delivery people really don't care. But in knowing that, companies like P1 should be taking care of the customer better than what they do.
That’s pretty crappy. I wouldn’t buy from them again. That’s inexcusable for them to take the money and run without care about their customers and product. Shameful. Just DO NOT buy from them again. There are plenty of sculpture companies out there. Buy from them. No excuse. Don’t give them your money.
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles Boycott. Obviously they don’t care and they know they can take advantage of that. Do what you’re doing. Give reviews and make videos on any platform they don’t control. Tag them. You sure did steer me clear of them. So you ARE having an effect.
You’re right. Although I have seen those go bad as well, most of the time you are much better off. And in the top info on this video I list some great custom companies I have had great experiences with.
If you’re interested I can repair yours, I have the paint and apoxy sculpt, i also think I purchased the dog alien bust and dx head on eBay from you lol.
Yes you did! lol Man, we could have gone outside of eBay had saved us both some money. 🤣 I appreciate that, but I can repair it. Unfortunately I have had to become good with these kinda things. 🤣
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles man I knew it was you, I recognize the background of you dog alien video with the eBay photos. Lol oh well. Yeah I’m starting to learn that the hard way that in this hobby you have to know repair skills.
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles bought a stegosaurus, had some damage. No little refund/or replacement. Only offer from them was free shipping on my next item.
I totally feel for you dude, you look just really sad and disappointed in this video! Why we are still collecting stuff? Bc we are nerds and we just love nerdy shit😅 Still your rant is more than justified and just the sad look on your face says more than 1.000 words🥲
Thanks for making this video. I'm in the same boat as you with this Big chap. Cracked leg and they are offering me $170 store credit. A slap in the face after waiting almost 3 years and $2000 dollars.
It's absolutely ridiculous. How can they think that is fair for us?
Oh yeah, for sure man. This video received 2 dislikes by those very kinda people. It's so dumb to dislike something like this. 🤣
I read connivers and pictured conifers and thought you were insulting them by calling them trees.
I hadn't seen this
video until know, and I found it since today I just canceled my Big Chap action pose.
Yeah, I like projects when I choose them, not when they’re forced upon me.
I agree with all of your thoughts brother!
They told me a few weeks to make a new head which they showed me once ready, another collector got a whole new body (nchanzplace I think)
Seems as though if you purchase real early that’s your only chance at parts, if you have economy shipping you get it later and may be in trouble, however they should make replacements later regardless but they have so many projects they probably don’t want their factories held up.
I'm pretty fed up with them at this point.
You bring up a solid point. It may be possible.
I’m totally with you on how the hobbies changed. Everything feels rushed these days! Even though we wait years for these pieces
Same everything but smaller, but i digress:
The FOMO is too strong.
Dude, you are saying a lot of truth here. I think you hit the nail on the head. All great point.
i feel you man. i got out of statues a long time ago. it seems when the 3d printing came along they started pumping out pieces over night. the market is flooded. everything is just bigger and more expensive over more unique and more quality.
Truth.
Real shit. I hope more figure collectors see this video. Especially like GemMint Collectibles
Thanks man. I know it's something we all feel.
Love your videos and thankyou for speaking out 👍🏼
Thanks man. And yeah, the people who were praising that hideous sculpt mist have had blinders on.
I’m sorry to hear that. I fully agree with ya.
It would be hard for someone to say your wrong.
Such a shame. Especially with how well they’re doing
If you drop that kind of money there should not be any kind of problems. If there is they should honor it and take care of it. Because their customers are taken care of them. They can only do this so long before they will go out of business. The word will still get out no matter how many comments they delete. Good video man.
Agreed. Prime 1 have turned their back on their customers.
P1 blocked me on their FB page because I said their new Ellen Ripley face needs work.
It's so ridiculous. And you're right. She does.
It's insane that we can't give constructive criticism.
Thanks man. Yeah, Hot Toys has it's fair share of issues.
I enjoyed your rant and everything you said about Prime 1 is spot on bro.
Appreciate that man.
I feel this though. A lot of companies I collect, like figma, aren’t really improving with their technology but the prices are going up and they come with less accessories. I guess it’s the inflation and market but god damn it sucks
For sure man. And I'm glad you spoke on action figure companies because they are part of the problem too (not all, but a lot).
I agree with you 100% when we pay 2000 for a statue you shouldn't have to worry about anything being broken and they should be bending over backwards for you!!
No doubt.
Oh! What's up dude!
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles All good over here brother! Hope all is well over there too!
Same! All good
Prime 1s response to the situation is such an insult to the customers, I would have returned it straight away.
A lot of people feel that way. And for good reason.
Glad you brought up Ash. I was looking forward to that figure for months. I am a huge Evil Dead fan and I canceled my order.
Smart man. I won't be too far behind you.
Good video! I’m in the same boat, too frustrated with these companies to buy anything. I’m done for now
It's a shame this hobby turns so sour.
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles for me, it started with all the shipping fiasco. Companies over charging, not being transparent.
Yeah, that's been bad, but quality has been dropping before that. It's been a perfect storm of boning the customers.
A company should take both the negative and the positive reviews with thier community And learn to build off of that Ultimately it was us the customer that made their company successful
I agree with you a 100% I look at these purchases as investments and they should be treated as such
I feel your pain.
That's a great point that hasn’t really been touched on. And we all can use help with buying decisions, whether just starting out or veteran.
I’ve never had any issues with Prime 1 personally but I just can’t support a company with such a negligent response to complaints and shoddy quality control. The only way things will change is if people en masse stop giving them their money but I can’t see that happening
Unfortunately I don't see that happening either.
Well said. We need to stop supporting these companies
I´m feeling you brother!
Thanks brother, and I feel the same as you.
Like anything else in life, vote with your wallet. As long as collectors continue to buy their products these companies have no motivation to change.
Yeah, it's a shame. IDK what the percentage is, but I think a very large portion of us have received broken statues.
Other companies can be as bad, but Prime 1 is the WORST offender.
They have what they choose to call “plausible deniability”…
The owners of these companies are wealthy and they know many of the people in this hobby have disposable income, because otherwise people wouldn’t.
All great points brother! You're so right.
Not any resolution I was happy with. P1 sucks.
Plus the money spent on supplies to fix it and the time which you never get back...resale value drops on damaged items 😪...even TH-cam hides the dislike clicks
Great points too. Even well repaired, it will always be a damaged statue.
Customer service doesn’t exist anymore because they know people are going to buy regardless. It’s sad. People don’t know how to take a stand against shit like this anymore and just boycott companies that treat people like this. People just want stuff.
Truth.
You are 100% right. Very disrespectful on the part of P1. Sad state of affairs.
This was my most anticipated statue.
Same here. And they totally tainted the joy of getting it. Did you end up getting one?
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles I'm getting mine through Secret Compass. They offer a complete refund with breakages. I think most North Americans getting this piece went through them.
I think they take a long time to deliver though, right? Aren't people still waiting on them to ship the Pred out?
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles All shipping containers are backed up right now. It's a huge global issue.
You have to remember where this company came from, they started out recasting other people's work.
I’m sorry you getting stressed out,but you’re right costumer service is BS in a lot of places, you get something broken and you gotta come up with the money to ship it back!that’s unacceptable man,
There’s gotta be a way to make these companies change their ways, like start a petition with peoples signatures and the whole nine yards, something has to be done..
I’m here to support the cause 100% brother…
I honestly think the only way things will change is if as a whole, we all just stopped giving them money. But I don't see that happening.
I appreciate that! I have the NECA Werewolf....it's awesome. And dude, I wish I had your art skills. You're amazing dude.
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles Thank you. I love art and your videos continue to inspire my work.
Though beats, but thanks for the video. I really like the look of the upcoming 1/3 Geralt, and this makes me want to wait until others receive it.
Keep rocking!
Yeah, honestly this hoby has gotten so bad, you're better off waiting till you see pieces in-hand .
I totally agree. And that whole Asmus fiasco just seems to keep getting worse and worse....
For the prices they charge they should do way better. I'm not surprised. People keep buying.
I’m one of the few who got a perfect Big Chap. Not a scratch. But I feel for you, I’d be pissed too.
I'm happy at least some people got ones that were undamaged. Besides all of this, it's a great piece.
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles Yes, it is.
It's hard to find good quality pieces that are worth the money. My collection has been at a stand-still for over a year now.
I don't blame ya. There are still some good custom artists out there that are well priced and do great work. But I am already slowing down and selling off a bunch of stuff. I think in a year or so I'll be pretty well done with the hobby.
He's larger than I assumed it would be. Sucks to hear about the damage.
Don't block me.
I'd block him
@@gypsycatcha79 i agree,block him.
@@gypsycatcha79 I see how it is.
@@modockthegreat I'd block me, too.
🤣🤣🤣
Yep I mine was damaged too, I repeated it myself since prime 1 didn’t have the body. They gave me a 85$ reward point. Such disappointment. I think these companies know how obsessed collectors are so they milk it as much they can.
Yeah, I think you’re right. I'm sorry yours arrived damaged as well. At this point I wonder is most of them arrived broken.
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles I think 95% of production had damages, there’s so many people on Facebook groups posted damaged big chaps, one had an leaning problem.
Oh yeah, I remember the lean issue...that was one of the first ones out there, right?
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles yes he’s another TH-camr. I think it’s rosco something is his channel name.
Thanks man. I'm happy mso many of us agree that this is BS.
Keep calling them out on their poor quality.
I was close to buying that Trick or Treat studios Annabelle doll until I saw your review pointing out the poor quality.
No doubt. And as consumers that's the only real ting we can do.
Fingers crossed!
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles They had both versions in stock. As of yesterday. Glad I jumped on it as they are sold out. Is a excellent piece .Fingers crossed.
🙏🏻
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles Got the body box today. So far no issues. Thankfully lol. So expecting something broken.
Dude that's awesome! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I appreciate this video. I'm dancing around getting my first prime 1 (Swamp Thing). But with this feedback, and the price on the figure. I can't afford to take the risk on a broken $1200 statue. Do you have anything from XM Studios? Are they any good?
I don't have any experience with them but I have heard good things.
That’s why I only deal with the best…. “XM Studios”
So crazy. It's sad to see prime1 go down this path. The paint has been rough. And this information is bad.
I tried to share it on the fb group. That didn't workout 🤣
The hobby in general seems like they could care less about customer satisfaction.
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles I am waiting on this statue and I'm very nervous. I can actually do some good custom repair myself. But it depends on how bad. Honestly I'm getting close to done collecting for a while
Are you going to get it?
Let’s go Brandon
For the price that they charge for the statues, they should have free shipping
And they should have replacements for damaged parts, especially when they are at fault.
Totally agree with you 💯
Thanks brother!
😔
Great video man well said 🙏✌️👍
You're a smart man for getting out. And yeah, Hot Toys is no better with their QC issues, and materials falling apart and breaking down.
Stoped buying prepainted statues some years ago, it just wasn’t worth the prices anymore 🤷♂️
You're a smart man. 👍🏻
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles I’m a broke man 😄
lol
Completely crazy how prime 1 and other companies are going about there business and customer care. I don't see things getting any better either to be honest.
No. And honestly it's been going downhill in general for a few years now. It's not getting any better, it's just getting worse.
I will say. Queen studios is doing wonder with customer service and always considering negative criticism
I’ve heard good things about them.
I keep saying the hobby will eat itself and it is gorged.
I don't get why anyone would continue to buy anything from the same company that has already seriously fucked them once.
No matter what they are selling in the future, I wouldn't buy it. That's just me though.
The right thing to do is support the good companies and expose the shitty practices of those who screw you.
No doubt. I try to uplift any company I do business with who provided and awesome customer experience.
So glad I did not buy this one. Read way too many problems with this piece. Went with Xm and so love the pose on it. Have that hive alien black variant coming to. Pass on prime 1 alien 🤣
Black variant, hell yeah! Can’t wait to have it 😮💨
I hope it's awesome!
Wow, thats messed up bro i would be heated if that happened to me 😡😡😡
I feel ya man not good :(
Sorry man, I only recently got into collecting like a year ago and I'm already done with Prime1 and don't think I'll go for any future statues from them due to things like this
I can't say I blame ya. It sucks though getting someone new into the hobby and them getting such a bad taste in their mouths so quickly. 😔
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles Yeah I'm glad there are other companies who still seem great so far at least. P1 has such great concepts and licenses though that its a real shame they are doing this to themselves.
It really is. They teased that Ripley, but man, it's hard to want to buy anything from them at this point.
You are spot on. Delivery drivers dont care.
I tapped out awhile ago after I got burned by Chronicle Collectibles (taking everyone’s 💰)
Oh yeah man. They screwed over a lot of people.
Bit of bloody bad luck there sir, not a very good company are they!!!
Got to say love that t-shirt 🤘
Thanks man! I love that movie...such a classic!
Wait, they dont give you store credit for purchase price of item if you return it?? Like 2k for big chap, you should have 2k store credit
I think if you ship it back they will refund your money, but you might have to pay for the shipping.
I agree
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles Boycott. Obviously they don’t care and they know they can take advantage of that. Do what you’re doing. Give reviews and make videos on any platform they don’t control. Tag them. You sure did steer me clear of them. So you ARE having an effect.
Custom all the way 1 to 1 is all I do now days
