- From the 1977 LP 45 "Disco in Steel" , The Third World Steel Orchestra performing Maestro's "Gold" arranged by Pelham Goddard.
The National Lottery Third World Steel orchestra was formed around the time there was an upheaval in Starlift Steel Orchestra which spawned "Phase Two" and "Third World".
Pelham Goddard, who played in Starlift for a while was the arranger of this Third World gem which became very popular on the radio. You can hear the influence of Ray Holman's style in this arrangement. This was Pelham's first big success arranging for pan - เพลง
Live on stage for finals was awesome. Best feeling ever. St James forever!
This is one of the best panorama arrangements ever made. I remembered when pelham was arranging this. My cousin played that year, I was 8th. Every day after school while walking home, we would always stop and play in the pan yard, and get in trouble for climbing on the racks. This really bring back great memories of Primary School days, de happiest days of my life.
man hearing this bring back lotsa memories from that time, fishing by big bridge, breaking beach and getting drunk from port wine, and seeing ALVON write up allover st james sec, staying up late listening to pan and still having to carry water in the morning....
My father was a member of this band and played on this recording, Michael Reis, everyone knew him as Savage.
acid , is
Knew him and the family very well. From Sando but was on Bombay street a lot right behind on Bomay street. He was a very talented pannist
Sweet ❤️ pan music 🎶
Guys I don't know if you all remember TTT used to play these two selections to make up time before a show started. You could have actually seen the band playing on TV.
Forever awesome piece of a real pan era!!! Two of my brothers played on this Wayne and Ian "Mystery Man" Angelina Street St. James
music is all I could say man how sweet it is
This is really GOLD. 24k. The Best, the Highest Quality. This is just beautiful. Thanks.
Hey Guys. the arranger of this tune and their first ever tune - Social Dora-was Pelham Goddard, Exodus' current arranger. No joke, and their captain was David 'Splabs' Waddell, The best from Pelham, Des
My brother Michael Reis ( white boy "Savage") of St.James played in this competition, This big tune still a very big hit in parties especially all our family occasions.......... GOLD, GOLD big tune forever.

Great post.
I'm glad I found this. The National Lottery Third Worls was formed around the time there was an upheaval in Starlift which spawned "Phase Two" and "Third World".

We band. Flew under the Radar for a few yearsin the Golden Era of Pan.
OMG
I grew up on Ranjit Kumar Street
I must have been about 10 11 that year
all my uncles were in the band.
wow I have to play this for them
Was that the voice of Edison Carr at the beginning? Edison was one of the greatest voices ever in the history of Trinidad and Tobago radio! That was back in the days when you had to be able to speak properly to be a radio announcer or a DJ!!
Jus love it!!!!
It is Eddison Carr. This band reminds me of a short lived band call jewel 22, I have not heard of them for some time, they killed POS with a tune called American Patrol.
Sweet for days.
Hey Shjakes, what about "Fiery" which I think came after "Gold". What I would give to hear Fiery again, the same song that Bungie brought back a couple of years ago and won the soca monarch title with. I think Maestro sang Fiery. I grew up in Angelina Street, St James when they played Gold in Ranjit Kumar Street.Des
It’s the first maestro track I knew all the words them asking everywhere how I coming next yr
One of best songs dat didn't win
Maestro's album "Rampage"
A Real classic from a real 'Sugar Band' (as described by the late Cap'n Splav Waddell)...now if you could put your hand on their recording of 'Social Dora' I am prepared to leave you my land in Tobago! :)
So true!!
Music boy!!!! Well balalnced. All Maestro music would sound good on Pan
@thevianna100 I just remembered "Rockford Files" theme somg. Another Pelham classic.Des
This is for sure more precious than 24karat.
This is one the judges missed

The best performance not to have won panorama
Nope. Best performance not to have won Panorama was Fonclaire's "Pan By Storm" in 1990. Above might be the 2nd best not to have won! ;-)
Yes Lord memoriey husbMd and i he use to play bass o play six bass ythose we're the good old days
Splav is no the "late Cap'n Splav" He is VERY much alive and kicking.
I am really happy to hear that…now if you have any contact with him I'll be really happy because I can personally 'harass' him for a copy of "Social Dora" :)
Well nice to meet you on TH-cam baby Splav! Could you be so kind ask your dad if he has a recording of that beautiful song fuh mih please? It would make my year if you did and he said yes….then we can 'organize' :)

This same band did "American Patrol" too....
Yip..."Gold", celebrating Hasely Crawford's triumph in 1976....
This is where Pelham start after playing such great music the band disappear
