I went from the rebel 250 to a 1997 honda shadow spirit 1100 , the weight and the control is something to get used to , I went to a parking lot and ran through some low speed drills and got used to it pretty quick I love the shadow .
Very similar experience for me. Sabre 1100 is my first bike (got it 3 years ago) and my wife would follow me to the Hobby Lobby parking lot early on Sunday mornings to practice.
You should try an 85-86 vt1100c, it's a huge difference in HP and torque compared to the newer models.. why Honda decided to reduce output power in later models is a mystery
@roguesquatcher not really a mystery. Emissions regulations, keep voting for the anti-fun police who all want us in electric cars, and we will continue to get more of the same. They are mad at Honda because they think hybrid cars are a better option than fully electric cars due to lacking the infrastructure to power them all. Think about that, the green peace authority who want to ban the internal combustion engine, think that hybrid cars don’t go far enough. In its final years of production you couldn’t even buy the CB 1100 motorcycle in the U.S. because of emissions standards. Honda ended production of the CB 1100 I think in 2021. It was sold in Britain but after 2015 not in the U.S.
i have a 2000 sabre shadow(bought new) and a 1800 vtx(also bought new in 2006) and a new 2023 goldwing dct. i love the gold wing but for around town or short under 200 mile trips i prefer the 1100 lots of power. however pre1999S have a tendency for the engine to fall out. going around corners. and seats fall off as well as running lights as can be seen here.what happened to your left mirror? but they are good looking bikes. i would never ever go back to a harley. i am 69 been riding since i was 11 or so. started on mini bikes and at 16 bought a new harley. have owned them over 50 years. but with never sure they will start and always in the shop. no more. none of my hondas have seen a shop cept for tires. and warrenty work hondas will run for ever nice bike jay have fun and be safe
It may be the camera but it appears the bars are bent back on the right. I ride a 2004 Spirit VT1100C. Even some Harley riders may have one in their stable for short rides and a backup bike for when the Harley is in the shop.
I got the 750 shadow it doesnt let you take your key out of the gas cap if not installed. But the gas cap on mine is connected to the tank with a hinge.
I have the same bike with the same tank and handlebars. The tank was painted with flames on it. I put 2 inch harley pipes on it and it sounds like a harley until ya see honda lol.
I don't know what the rules are for filling your bike up with fuel at the servo where you are from, but here in Australia we are not allowed to sit on the bike while fuelling up.
Hmm I’m actually not sure and haven’t thought about it before or heard any talk about it. It is most likely a lot safer off the bike. Might change my ways! Thanks for the comment!
@@MotoJay964 I use to walk into the servo with my helmet on, no one said anything, it was only when a mate I went riding with pointed to a sign saying not to wear a helmet in the servo, when I think about it, image all the time I could have robbed the servo and got away with it.... hahahaha... Not!... 😎
So I have the exact same bike pretty much and everything is great on it but the buttons to my horn and start don’t work. The kill switch works the blinkers and stuff work any suggestions on what it could be. The cylinoid to the starter isn’t getting any connection from the start button but I’m not sure what it could be I’ve checked all the fuses and those are fine. I mean it was garage kept for a few years and it was given to me I’ve rode it around but there are little things that I’ve gotta work on and those are what’s getting me stuck 😅 I’ve put a new start button on for the meantime but I’d rather have it where it’s supposed to be. Any advice would be great!
Hmm that’s an interesting one. I get all my mechanical skills from TH-cam lol so I’d say start there and try to find a video with same issues. I also hate and despise electrical work lol
ik this is an old video but I need help finding parts. Im thinking of buying a 1996 honda shadow 1100 that needs the carbs rebuilt and I just cant find the rebuild kit anywhere.
Looks like a couple on eBay but idk if I’d trust those. Saw one on J&P Cycles. Best bet is just go to your local Honda dealership and talk to the parts department. They’ll get you straightened out.
They are some shitty plastic ones that were on it when I bought it and where it screws in is broken so they dangle. They’re on the list of things to do.
I’m debating between an aero 750 and a Sabre 1100. My main concerns are controllability and weight. I’d love experienced riders input. I ride a rebel 250 now but I’m getting tired of going slow and being cramped.
In my opinion whether you go with the 750 or the 1100 you’re going to have to get use to a new weight and control. So might as go with the 1100 to give ya more power and just get use to it. My first bike was a 750 kawasaki eliminator and it was a great bike, then I got the rocket which is a ninja 636 so a big jump. But the shadow is easily the most comfortable bike I’ve had. Rode it to chicago and back one day which is like 5 hrs for me and barely got off the bike.
My brother got a 750 an I got this 1100 an he loves his an I love mine his is a little lower an feels a bit smaller framed an a bit lighter compared to the 1100
I actually just wanted anything with 2 wheels since my 636 engine took a shit and I missed riding. So I found this bad boy for super cheap, hence the hanging lights, and the clutch going out.
I have the same bike with the same tank and handlebars. The tank was painted with flames on it. I put 2 inch harley pipes on it and it sounds like a harley until ya see honda lol.
I am old. Fell twice. Have no skin grafts. Love my helmet, jacket and gloves. Invisable man is my motto.
Yeah I’ve put my rocket in the ditch twice from fixation.
I just bought a 2003 VT1100 Spirit with 8k miles. Very happy with this purchase.

It’s a cruiser is probably why
Shh don’t talk about the mid 80’s shadows.
Light danglin, no left mirror, no worries.
Maybe he dropped it in the shed before he got underway lol

The pre 1999s motors fall out? I just got a 96
If u push down alittle when putting the gas cap back on it usually goes right on
If you line the gas cap up with the arrow and push down with both hands it will lock itself and you can just pull the key out
he does look a little shaky, and wobbles a bit, but we all start somewhere. my parting advice is start slow, don:t hurry, and please be careful.
Gas prices $2.21. Wow, the good old days. $4.18 now. Nice bike..
Miss those days as well. What’s the saying? You never know you’re in the good ole days until they’re gone? Lol

Man you’re right it does look like that. I’ve never noticed it in person so it must be the camera, but I’ll have a look.
I'm sure you figured it out by now, but you just gotta push the cap down- it'll snap in place and let you take the key out.
I love my Honda Shadow…I hope you put some legit pipes on that bike. That V Twin sounds badass

Yeah that definitely makes sense, have never had a bike where the gas cap was actually removable haha

thanks, and nice bike.
How does your hydraulic clutch work?
I just got a 96 vt1100c , I saw you were having problems with the gas cap, mines the same way lol
Same bike just push down pretty darn hard before turning, I struggled with it at first
Yeah it can be a pain, I’ve come to get use to it now lol
What’s with the dangling headlight.

i have a 2000 shadow spirit vt 1100. its a good bike.
What's with the left head lamp?
Thought I was gonna have to commit this lmaoo
Sorry guys lol they’re shitty and the plastic broke.
Ok what's with the horn covers and where did you get them?

I’d like to try the buckhorn bars, I have the Sabre but those look comfy to me
what kind of crash bars are you using
I’m not entirely sure they were on the bike when I bought it. I’ll do another walk around video on it and make sure to check it out for you!
How did you pump gas without paying first
I used my card at the pump but edited it out so no one could see my card info.
My Honda shadow vt1100 only take 93
Sorry about the wind noise, I had burritos for lunch. Hey one of my headlights fell off!?
Those handlebars are only good in one place- on the front of a 72 Cadillac 😂🤣
멋진바이크이다
Thnak you!
It's a little bit chilly outside and I forgot my spoon. OH YEAH AND I'M RIDIN IN A T-SHIRT! DUUUURPPP....
All the horsepower of a 500 twin
Yeah it's always a good idea to stop 50 ft behind the car in front of you, just to see if it's true that people run over motorcycles in cars! 🥺🙂😆😅
She's watching to see if he pulls out in front of a bus
Funny to see the gas prices before biden.
I paid $3.79 a gallon yesterday in the WV panhandle. I definitely didn’t feel like laughing that’s for sure.
Oil is cheap when there's no demand.
Yep. We gots brakes. Breaks? Put er away. Please.
Wow, look at that. 2.21 a gallon only 2 yrs ago, before biden took office
I’ll stick with my 750
Why’s that?
@@MotoJay964 to much HP for me
He can't figure out how to use the gas cap LOL I'm not sure this guy should be riding a motorcycle...😆
Lmfao yeah I was struggling that day, only rode the bike like 5 times at this point😂
He won’t Learn if he don’t ride 🤷♂️
11,001 views. The sum total of everyone who's ever bought a shadow. Excepting myself. Vtx1800. Red. If you want a Harley, get a Harley.
I actually just wanted anything with 2 wheels since my 636 engine took a shit and I missed riding. So I found this bad boy for super cheap, hence the hanging lights, and the clutch going out.
Harleys spend more time in the shop then on the road. Go on market place and you will see more Harleys for sale then Honda.
