We check out a used Skoda Laura which is on sale. The Skoda Laura was technically the second generation Octavia and this car has always been known for its driver-friendly nature. The Laura was offered with TDI and TSI engines, and the car which we have right now is a 1.9 TDI model.

My parents were about to get a new alto 800 for 4 lakh on road but i convinced them to buy second hand and we bought a 2013 with tax paid upto 2023 second hand honda brio for just 2.6 lakh. Best buy ever 😊

I have driven this car for the past 10 years, clocked around 160000 kms till this date . Leaving all the memories aside here are the real issues with this car. Dont even think about the DSG models they were not ment for Indian traffic anyways. ABS sensors will wear out often though you can source some from Chinese market for cheap . Some models did have electrical issues . Headlights , horn and climate control are not meant for Indian driving environment still they will do their job . Does not have steering mounted control, stock music player sucks ( invest in a RCD 340 ) . In side the engine bay ,keep an eye for the timing belt , exposed wires can lead to partial power loss for hydraulic steering. But say your considering this against a new maruti hatchback dont buy this.
Now coming to the important bit whats the good part about the car. TDI manuel models have acceptable average for highway crusing . Can hold 2 full size dead bodies and if your not in a hurry can even hold 3 ( just saying). Performance wise never disappointed . Disc breaks all around so breaking is taken care . Build quality wise well, once a honda city (dolphin) just got involved , his bonet hit the reare of my car . To my surprise just a smudge but unfortunately the honda lost its coolant reservoir. , bonet and horn . But ya comes with heated mirrors,with anti glare. If your into tunning this one will not disappoint. Heard some people have tunned their car for 400+ BHP . Overall not a bad car i still drive it , its fast enough, has good planted feel . Probably a good getaway car.( Just saying )
Hey Rohit! There's a 2013 Jetta 2.0 TDI AT for sale with a code 6 Stage 1+ ECU AND TCU REMAP, Bilstein B6 dampers, vRS alloys, MIB 2 Head unit! The owner is a proper car enthusiast and he owns a polo TDI stage 2 and he recently bought a vRS230 Hence the reason why he's selling the Jetta! The Jetta feels absolutely amazing to drive and there's no lag in the gear shifts or jitters while driving. I've driven other second hand octavia's and jetta's but this one feels like a new car in front of them! Would you suggest I go for it !?

Maybe geting thr VIN and tracking history would just help you be assured about what you're gonna purchase . Again we are talking of a tuned car,get a second opinion from people who are really pro in this field . Would suggest you one thing whatever it maybr buy it dont regret and if yoh have work on the car . Its the best learning curve out there ... Cheers dude

Agreed. Made a stupid decision of buying a 2009 Superb in 2018. 3L spent, stuff still keeps breaking and falling apart. Fuck it, I'm getting a Toyota. But, what a joy it is to drive.

Lol not really. Routine checks and services. Take car of your car like a child. Turn off AC before turning off the car. Turn off audio system before turning off the car. Turn off all electricals before turning off or turning on the car. Make sure your after market products match the specific limit set by Skoda going above the limit may result in electrical issues and sensor failures. Maintain yearly service or 10k Kms service. Make sure to clean your injectors. Watch out for noises and rattles and get them addressed as soon as you hear them because then they are repairable and not meant to be replaced. So take care of your car like a child and it'll grow old to be a fine motor aged like fine wine. Neglect your car and you'll end up paying a fortune. Take care of her and she'll be a beauty.
Electricals are bound to fail at some point nothing lasts forever. But know your vendors know wholesalers godowns and places where your mechanic gets his parts from. Buy the parts yourself and you'll save a ton of money. Do your ground work and get your hands dirty if you can and it'll be a breeze to maintain.
I can understand. My Polo is 7 years old, cabin still is pin drop silent, petrol Engine is as good as brand new after 83000 kms done, feels like a small tank. Once you buy a Skoda/VW you cannot go back to Pepsi Cans.

It looked like a paid promotion. You should have included 'what too look for or what all components need checking while buying a used car' than a promotion video like this.
And maintenance doesn't mean only oil change and small small things that are done on new cars, as the car is already 8-9years old , soon the shocks will need service then power window then engine will start making black smoke and very soon your car will be like tank, good looking at outside but ride quality and other small small problems will make you cry. I HAVE OWNED ONE AND TELLING YOU BY EXPERIENCE DON'T BUY A USED SKODA IF ITS MORE THAN 4 YEARS OLD COZ THEY ARE BUILT TANK BUT RE-SOLD AT THE AGE WHEN TANK STARTS ASKING FOR SERVICE, COZ ITS INDIA.

@@premminocha5893 yea that can be one of the reasons. But the fact that not many people want to buy it is also a reason for its low resale value no? And that might be because people already know about the service costs and reliability issues. If a car is good enough in those aspects it can hold some of its value imo. Unless it's like more than 5 years old or something in which case nevermind lol.
I would love to get a Skoda or VW if they were actually reliable and and give peace of mind. But they are bloody notorious. Ended up getting a Verna instead of a GT TSI and I am pretty happy. I know that NA Engines cannot be remapped, but never mind, I'm happy. Will definitely go for an AWD Tucson and then I might consider a remap for it.

Well done, a brilliant video, so interesting and 'living in the real world'. This car is known as the Skoda Octavia in the UK and it is one of the best sellers, and many are used as taxis. Shows how durable and spacious they are.
Have heard of these running reliably in Europe. Unfortunately, in india they have a bad rap because of scum dealers who have monopolies in their respective cities who steal parts and cheat owners on service which makes it difficult to justify buying one...even for enthusiasts.

I am a student so I have my limits in maintanance... I want to use the car for another 5 yrs & 50k km... So which one is wise to chose? All I want a reliable engines & least maintanance cost... Is 1.2 lakh km run Toyo better than a 50k run vento? ( I am living in Kerala; & in my state the used market is lil expensive especially the Japanese cars... & I cannot convince my parents to get me a car from another states )

Car is a 2.0 TDi unlike the 1.9 TDi mentioned in the video. This car was registered in May 2010(after BS4) so has to be a 2.0 Common Rail.

@@bmcfsu_ I have first hand experience of DSG failure. Once I was driving a Superb VR6 4×4 on an empty stretch of road. I decided to put it into manual mode and control the car by the steering mounted paddle shifters, as soon as I downshifted it started jerking like an AMT and 5 mins later the car broke down completely.
I have been using Superb for 5 years now. 2010 model. It still runs smoothly

A third hand laura cost 2-2.5 lakh which is very less. Instead buy a swift if really want to buy a new car. And i said Fortuner becoz spending 16lakh on 2011 model gives a return of 15 . Thats why
