Just got an opportunity to tour this amazing RV in person. Unfortunately it was about 105° outside so we looked at it in a hurry! Not what we want for two retirees but an amazing set up for a big family or as a destination trailer where you can spend a season and entertain friends and family. Definitely drool worthy!

Both LG and GE now make washer dryer combo units that use condensing drying technology, so they are ventless, run on 110v, and auto dispense the perfect amount of prefilled detergent and softener. They also tell your phone when when your laundry is done. They work unbelievably well. Why are RV manufacturers not using these machines? It's so strange that every rig doesn't use mini split ac units and ventless condensing washer dryers. There is tech that turns condensed air into fresh potable water for drinking or your tank. Between your ac units and your dehumidifier contributing, along with the unit itself, these machines could produce an endless supply of water. A perfect application for off grid RV travel. These companies always seem years behind on tech. I suppose they are finally moving towards solar and 12v refrigerators, but someone needs to fill the demand for this stuff on mid priced rigs.

Ok I had to come back and let you know….I thought it was weird that there wasn’t a skylight in the shower, because the new models I have looked at all had one. Except for the new 2024 that we saw recently. I asked my sales guy about it…. He said that there was a supply shortage of skylights and GD couldn’t get them for a while. So instead of halting production, they just made a batch without skylights. Now they have them again so the newer ones will have the skylight in the shower. We just ordered ours. Very excited!

My Wife and I were shown this 5th wheel when we were looking looking at travel trailers. The salesman said he had the perfect solution when I told him we needed a travel trailer to keep my truck bed!
He wasn't kidding, the belly storage is bonkers. Bikes.....kayaks......I don't know.....the city of Baltimore....you could stuff it all in there.
    It's somehow bigger in person.
It's also not for us. I consider 35 feet pretty huge, so this 40 foot plus monster is out of the question.
It's beautiful though, if I needed a park model, it would be on "the list".

      > love the cargo
Seriously? It's anemic! It skipped leg day! I mean, nice floor plan and all, but as a trailer, this thing is all but useless.
Park it on a mountain, and gradually fill up the grey and black tanks. Then, go to try and tow it somewhere to dump it, and realize that you have to unload all but ~200 pounds of your cargo, because 1,766 of your 1,900 pounds of cargo carrying capacity is now being taken up by water...

We are considering selling our farm in GA and moving to our farm in AL. We've given thought to buying a big RV to live in rather than spending the money to fix up the farmhouse that's there now. Its livable but old.
I like the concept here, but I don't think I would want to deal with those stairs all day long. As a "permanent " unit, I think we would be better served with a destination trailer.
This sucker is huge and I really don't want a dually.
Maybe a destination trailer for the farm and keep our current camper for camping.

I'm no Grand Design fan but I really like a lot of what they've done with this unit. What baffles me is why a unit this size with this much internal and external storage has less than 2000lbs of cargo capacity. If you install a generator, washer, and dryer then just how much is left?

    • @caseypries7559
      @caseypries7559 ปีที่แล้ว

@@Erin-Thor my problem with grand design is their lies and all the TH-cam influencing. They lie about their insulation r value, stating the 6" to 8" attic is around r38 or something like that which isn't even possible unless it was solid spray foam, which it's not. While on a factory tour at their solitude plant I asked why they don't use torsion axles and was told most likely, cost. They later went on to tell us how they use the best components and try to make the best units. After they'd already admitted they skimp on axles due to cost. Also the solitude we toured had one of the spongiest floors I've ever walked on.

Knocking it out of the park as usual Josh! I can see why this video took hours, this RV is massive. Grand Design knocked it out of the park with this design. My only concern (other than it being a Grand Design) is the fridge. What happens if that needs to be replaced or fixed. Our residential fridge barely fits through our front door, I can't image this fridge getting out of this unit.

It just struck me how weird it is to call the little room with the toilet and hand basin a “half bath”. It should probably be called a “no bath”. There’s no bath in there and hopefully no bathing going on in the toilet. People do understand the difference between a toilet and a bath, I hope. Don’t they? Be better to just call it a toilet room or just a toilet, as the “room” bit is kind of redundant.

Through my research I discovered that most if not all RVs made in 2020/2021 were heavily effected by COVID. Either because of the supply shortage, or the workforce shortage, or factories shutting down completely. The entire industry was impacted which produced units with poor quality and workmanship as a result. I have seen several used (pre pandemic) and new Grand Designs. They have been top quality in my opinion. I think your experience would be different if you had a newer model. We ordered a new one and the quality is unmatched in its category. Also, That little counter in the kitchen really needs a household outlet. That is a great spot, not only as a coffee spot but a place to set the slow cooker to do it's job, out of the way.
That storage is incredible. Dually country? I think I'd want a semi. And someone else to drive it!
