    YIKES.... Why is it so darn hard at times to connect my GX85 to my iPad? But finally, with your help i'm up and running - Thanks, Marlene. I have been messing around for almost an hour on my GX85. For some reason, I could not get past the Lumix Club Menu setup - like where and what is that? Anyway, I finally was able to set up the WiFi feature and get it going and saw the connection on my iPad - Hallelujah. WHOOPS - Guess I did not move fast enough and my camera locked on the WiFi and would not stop. Had to remove the battery. Anyway, all is well now and connected 🙂

    Thanks Hielema, still here, a year after your video, its a great help! I found out what has confused me, is the term wifi: I didn't know if it was going via my home wlan (no good in the field!) or a direct connection to the camera. But I found out that if I start the setup on the camera (and not on the phone), choose wifi > function in the menu (as you do), it actually starts to a local wifi connection directly to the phone. Then connect the phone manualy to the G9 network and it works after a couple of minuts. Maybe the phone finds a stronger network under the proces and disconnects from the G9 network. But connecting manually again helps. I hope others find this useful too:-)

      Hi Jens, Yes, once in awhile I have trouble connecting. But I usually choose "Destination from Recent or Favourite". If I have it set up properly in the past, that's the easiest.

    Just downloaded the image app and connected the phone. Love it! I was thinking of getting a remote control first but then I remembered that camera has a wifi function and thought I'd check it out before spending money. Glad I did as I hate spending on things I don't need! Only gripe is I wish they would improve the frame rate of it as it's quite slow! Maybe with G9 MK2 they might improve the wifi performance enough to be able to use monitor function wirelessly to shoot video with decent refresh rate! Fingers crossed!!

    Great explanation. Thank you for that. What is the advantage of the Synch App vs. the Image App?

    • @ImageMaven
      @ImageMaven  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Sync App is newer and has more functionality, especially when shooting remotely. But it doesn't usually connect with the older Lumix cameras, and sometimes doesn't connect with the new cameras. Both can be finicky. The Image App seems to work for all of my new and old cameras though - at least through Wifi. The newer Sync App works through Bluetooth as well, but I find that the WiFi connection is easier to connect. I suggest you try them both and see what works best for you. Cheers!

    • @ImageMaven
      @ImageMaven  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well that's a new one for me! I'd say, check your import settings on the Sync App. And also check that you don't have something set up in your raw files (if you're shooting raw) that changes your jpgs to grayscale. And sometimes we have our cameras set to take 2 versions of a photo so make sure you're importing the colour version. That's all I can think of. Let me know if you figure it out.

    • @jaysiable
      @jaysiable 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ImageMaven thanks for your quick reply. I think that’s it, the greyscale you mentioned. My picture quality is set at Raw+ fine. *Does not get any better when I change to fine or STD. Quite frustrating

    • @ImageMaven
      @ImageMaven  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, the Photo Style doesn't matter. It's whether you are shooting with a filter effect and then making a duplicate file (raw file or second jpg) without the effect. Look for the setting called Filter settings. Check if it's ON. If so, check the "simultaneous record with Filter" setting. If it's on then you'll get two versions of your photo. And if one of those is in BW then that's the one that might be transferring to your phone.

      Hmm, this has me stumped Cor. I'm not a big gimbal user as I don't shoot video for clients (just my own simple TH-cam tutorials). The only thing I can think of right now is using a 3rd party piece of gear like the Accsoon SeeMo that connects via your camera's HDMI slot. Jordan reviewed it recently here: th-cam.com/video/ZLTcRRZQU80/w-d-xo.html It works with your iPhone and I think Android too, but I haven't used it. But it might not fit with your gimbal. Not sure. And actually DPReview forums might be able to help you further as well. Other than that, you might be limited to using your G9 for gimbal work. Sorry I couldn't be more help. This is the first I’ve heard of this Andrew. Sorry 😕 It might be worth hopping on a Lumix Live TH-cam stream and ask Sean about it and the status of the apps. They happen every week and you can ask questions. I always learn a lot.

    Hello! I tried to transfer a video to my iPhone but it just won’t let me. So I tried it through my laptop and air dropped it but it forces me to put in a file and I can’t download the video through there it will just say error, how do I fix this ???

      Just checking if you're getting a wifi connection from your Lumix camera? If so, Try using the Lumix Image App instead. It seems to work better for me. And you can choose a file size for videos and photos then too, because you'll fill up your phone memory quick if you're importing 4K video files or large raw files.

      @@ImageMaven yes I’m using the Lumix app. I just switch to MP4 file instead of MOV and it worked now… is one file better than the other ?

      And would it be smart idea if just bought a iPhone sd car reader? Will make transfers faster especially for large 6k files?

    • @ImageMaven
      @ImageMaven  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not even sure if the phone can read the 6k files.

    The main reason for using the iPhone with my G9 would be to AUTOMATICALLY and QUICKLY get clock synch and GPS coordinates. But both of these seems to be very poorly implemented. My tolerance goes as far as three seconds and with no actions what so ever.
    For me this takes minutes to happen in G9. My watch and headphones are super quick to attach to my phone but not so with the camera. Do you see any reasons to why this does not work?

    But how to transfer video via this app

    • @ImageMaven
      @ImageMaven  ปีที่แล้ว

      Works the same way for video transfer. But not all video formats can be played on mobile devices. So do some tests with short clips.

    как сделать в режиме видио что бы приложение спрятало настройки и показала мне видио на весь экран?

      @ImageMaven  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you play the video through the app it will go nearly full screen. At least it’s larger than the back of the camera.

    Glad to see that everyone is successfull.
    Not my case.
    The phone reconnects to main WiFi, I don't know what all the connection errors are about.
    App doesn't allow me to use Bluetooth for some reason, it's greyed out.
    WiFi connection is not helpful.
    It's a shame that such an expensive camera comes with such a bad application.
    Nikon was wonderful. Intuitive and never fails.
    This Panasonic software is just awful.
    Card reader is the only way for me. What a shame.

      Sorry about your frustration. Have you used the QR Code to connect? It's by far the simplest.
      Also you can try connecting when you're not near your home WiFi. Once you do that, then you can "choose connection from History" and it will find it easily. No more set up. In all cases you do have to go into your mobile device wifi settings and make sure you see your G9 (or whatever Lumix camera you're using) in the list of Wifi devices. Hope that helps.

    Looks like the Remote Shooting screen can do everything EXCEPT tap-to-focus. Way to go, Panasonic, who needs remote focus anyway?

    • @ImageMaven
      @ImageMaven  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I does have tap to focus. I've used it.

    • @QuicksilverSG
      @QuicksilverSG 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ImageMaven - I figured it out, in the remote control app, you have to be in manual focus mode to use tap-to-focus. Unlike the camera itself, there's no AF Lock button that works in auto-focus mode.
