Ahhh Wiltshire Man, Chug and the Magical ancient Wiltshire landscape. Essential TH-cam viewing with peg scraping included. Was up on Hackpen Hill not so long ago. A different landscape to Herefordshire but I love it. Thank you Sandy. Paul 👍😊
Dear Mr. Wiltshire Man - can I just call you Wilts, for short?! (o; I've just paused you, going to watch the other half with coffee and buttered toast. You have no idea what delight and quiet pleasure this brings me. My own absence from motorcycle riding has been extended for reasons various, which is a blow, but this is just what the doctor ordered. I love riding my Moto Guzzi down that 'Wroughton towards Avebury' road more than any other road that I have yet ridden. Have to "give it beans" up that hill out of Wroughton just the same to keep speeds legal-ish but without slogging the engine. And those Beech clumps always catch my eye and I try to find the word or words for something they always convey to me: spooky? wise? overseeing? indifferent? majestic? ancient? I dunno, but they speak to me, without speaking if you see what I mean. Never have photographed them to my satisfaction, but always always admire them. I see things on those hills too. I'm not loony-tunes. It's a mysterious area. "Deeper into Wessex" I call that journey, given my start-point and destination(s). Anyway, the toast won't burn itself, tally-ho. And thank you sir, for the content and for the contentment which it brings to me.
Hi Barry I understand what you say about the landscape around here, there is something magical something special about it. It has been all planted up over the years by man with his crops and tree's but it is also a very ancient landscape indeed
I just love these little travelogues you do, Sandy. For those of us that are thousands of miles/kilometres away, it's a real treat to follow along with you. Thanks! 🙂👍🍻
Lovely scenery lovely video Sandy, next one is rubber in that gear box 😂 I have been for a ride on my bike this morning, great to get out again. Thanks for sharing with us all great video. 👍🇬🇧🏍
Showing us your intended route before you set off helped me to orientate myself during the ride. Beautiful countryside, an interesting commentary and the comforting burble of a very contented Chug made for a great video, Sandy. Thank you! 👍
Sandy, as always your videos are an absolute tonic, especially at the moment with so much grim news around. Thank you for precious minutes of calm and countryside, Cheryl 😊
Great stuff! Beautiful scenery you have over there, a bit of a change from our bush here in Australia. The Himalayan sounds like a wonderful relaxing ride. Thanks for putting in the work to take us on the ride with you, much appreciated!
Hi Sandy ..... I'm catching up . Great to see you out on Chug. Interesting the byways around your area. Amazing that wooden Stonehenge. Love the drone footage too. Yes we did hear that scrape on the roundabout! Hope Mandy's well . Hope Jess's trip to the vets was ok . I am still in ore of your workmanship on my Classic. Amazing ! So look forward to the next vide Sandy . Take care Pete & Marina.
An amazingly beautiful ride Sandy. Another very interesting and enjoyable video and you are so fortunate that you have such a beautiful area to explore that is so near to where you live. Your viewers are also blessed that you are kind enough to take your camera equipment with you in order to allow us all a chance to view your surroundings right along with you. As always, thank you so much for what you do for us. Take care and see you on the next one.
Morning Sandy, Just like Barry I have been watching your video over breakfast, great way to start the day. Wiltshire is a wonderful county blessed with beautiful, historic landscape which you show so well. Personally to my shame I would have bottled it at the ruts so top marks for cracking on. Love the drone footage by the way it really adds to the interest. Ride safe.
Thank you for the interesting tour. I envy your ability to access these quiet country roads and have a leisurely ride. Beautiful scenery. Where I live ( Toronto) I have to travel a considerable distance to escape the heavy traffic. Stay healthy. Cheers. 👍🇨🇦
Super video Wiltshire Man. Loved every minute of it. I leaned back in my chair enjoying the view as you rode along - and it was almost like being there myself. You get better and better all the time!! I wish yourself and your family a very, very happy day, and thank you for all you do to help so many people the world over!!
Great idea with the route explanation first, much easier than trying to guess it on an OS map whilst watching. Thanks for these videos, I had a lovely trip to Belas Knap back in February, never would have known about it if you'd not been there
Thank you for a splendid video :-) Many years ago I made the exact same journey while attending a bike rally near Swindon. It's surprising how little the area has changed.
Its great to see you ride around Wiltshire, I'm from the Hants/Wits border but have been living in France for the past 30 years. The thing I miss the most are the plain and the downs .I can't grumble though as I live close to the Pyrenees mountains so motor cycling is a joy here too .keep up the good work. Cheers
What a very beautiful un pretentious video. My first time coming across your videos, subscribed now. Thanks very much. Lovely bike, it was the bike that linked me to your channel. Thank, regards Frank
Really enjoyed this video. The format and length of vid is just right. I ride many miles around my own area, but its good to have a guided ride in another part of the country.
Nice ride out Sandy, and the Beach wood clumps at Hack pen have made a fine place for a wild camps for me a few times. And Barbury has been a home for a night one winter on a walk from Avebury to Wayland Smithy and back. Love this area of the country . Good video thanks for taking us along mate.
That was brilliant 👍❤️ chugs little horn is just epic and telling those folk to get a bike was just so funny but sound advice lol. Another great vid sandy, great to see you out on chug again. 👍👍👍
Lovely ride and brilliantly edited video. I found this one particularly relaxing - thank you so much. This is an area we drive past on route from Kidderminster to Bournemouth so I am tempted to bimble down on the Townmate later this summer and explore these wonderful byways.
You never fail us Sandy! Beautiful ... still trying to figure out the round (planted) trees. Normally, they are planted in straight lines "like streets" - do you think maybe this has something to do with "round-a-bouts" (ok, that was a Dad joke). Anyway, F. Henge was nice also. Keep'em coming!!
Lovely video of a beautiful area that we have enjoyed numerous times! We tackled that by way via back route of Barbury last Sunday in a lowered mini....! Got as far as the bit where it turns to mud and had to go back... luckily was right on a turning circle spot! Saw lots of wildlife and a beautiful sunset. Great following you on the bike, thanks for the cheery video 😃
Wiltshire Man yes really lovely. We’ve only recently discovered your videos and are making our way through your back catalogue - thanks for sharing your adventures. Wish I was brave enough to wild camp, but we will be brewing up on next trip out! 😄
Good video Sandy I have been along the area on my enduro bike You are correct the chalk can be very slippery when wet. Great area for off road We are so lucky living in Wiltshire.
Loved it, Sandy. Well done getting some green-laning. The Himalayan is made for the job. You could even put your stove and gear in the panniers! Hope for more in future. All the best to your missus for a full recovery. 73, Les g0nmd
I liked this one Sandy. Good to picture the route with the map first. I am planning to explore some tracks this weekend near where I live on the Costa del Sol. Also I will take my tent for some wild camping. Last time I was woken up by wild boars sniffing around outside, thankfully they didn't interfere with me. You are my inspiration!
Great video bud! 👍 I also have a Himalayan in sleet.. my engine makes the same noise under load. You are lucky to have byways, that’s not something we have in Scotland, all land is private so very difficult to get off road anywhere!
great vidio, nice countryside where you live, iv had my new himalayan for 10 days now, iv done 600 miles on it now. im very happy with the bike and just plodding around east sussex a/b roads
For journeying along the back roads and keeping the speeds down the Himalayan is a very satisfying and frugal bike to ride. 80 mpg. I find my bike likes to cruise at 55 to 60 mph so if you don't mind those speeds then it's fine. It's about the journey anyway:)
Stunning drone footage, beautiful countryside. Was that the centre stand touching down on the roundabout? Stop pretending you’re Valentino Rossi!!Good to see Chug out and about. Take care Sandy.
I always enjoy your little poddles about . I have never heard of that little wooden Henge. I will have to have a google find out how old it is . I wondered if the beech tree islands are to do with maintaining supplies of firewood/furniture making kit or even ensuring habitat for things like bunnies (carry over of the old Warren concept) , or even breeding sites for edible birds etc ?
Hi Will, I reckon those small circular beech woods were planted for ornamental purposes, they are very nice to see. Not sure how old they are, could have been planted when the Hackpen white horse was carved
Watching from my bed getting over a kidney infection, this was just what the doctor ordered. A nice chugg along a byway. Great content sandy....As you approached the last roundabout I thought...”steady on”....scrape goes the peg, pushing the Himalayan to the limit aye ...Lol 👏👍🤘
Fantastic Sandy 👍🏻 Loved knowing the route before you set off. Stunning scenery. Those circles of trees are amazing. A bit like we’ve got up here. But ours are geometric patterns. Hi Micheal I'll have to check out those tree's. I hoping to do a longer trip on the bike later this year so I may even get up to your neck of the woods.
Lovely ride. You’ve probably been lots, but another beautiful spot in that area is Green Street just off the main Ridgeway above Avebury - through Fyfield Down and through the fields of sarsen stones and the Devils Den. It will bring you out close to where you finished. Well worth a look at the Devils Den. Thanks for another great video.
I love Devils den, been there many times Steve though didn't know of a byway that went close to it. I'll have to check. th-cam.com/video/SutyNZy5NZk/w-d-xo.html
Thanks again Sandy, it makes me a bit home sick watching you riding around Wiltshire, even though I rode from Ohio to the Grand Canyon and other places in the US, i still miss the UK scenery.
Another great adventure Sandy! just found it, been busy with the VHF contest this weekend, worked a lot of cw on 6m ! it opened up nicely both days. fact it was even open again this evenng worked some more. I am in love with your country side. I just can't get over the open ness of the land. and the groomed woodland areas. here in New England its just the opposite. all woodland with some small groomed pastureland etc. Thanks again Sandy. It was gone 23:30 and we could see some lights in the distance which we couldn’t work out, I now think it was a 4x4 with some powerful lights on the byway you did in this video...another one we can now have a go at! Wiltshire Man yes, very quite and a perfect spot for a cup of coffee! Next time I’ll take a lump of steak I think and also have a look at the other byways you were on!

Love the vid, as I've said before I miss the Marlborough Downs and the Ridgeway. Should have turned left at the end for Rockley and the back up other side 4 mile clump and Barbury Castle, make a a nice loop
I remember riding up that steep hill many years ago when I visited Bill's bike barn to look at a Norton. Happy days will have to do that trip again some time
I've come here to comment specifically about your drone footage around the beeches. Beautifully captured. I may have to travel down that way on my Guzzi to look myself. Thanks for the map info at the start. 👍 PS. Just about to start Sub-70kg flying. A back issue prevents me from going Paragliding to Paramotoring. M0BNR.

wonderful I look forward to watching you
Love the vid, as I've said before I miss the Marlborough Downs and the Ridgeway. Should have turned left at the end for Rockley and the back up other side 4 mile clump and Barbury Castle, make a a nice loop
Thank you for taking me along (:
I remember riding up that steep hill many years ago when I visited Bill's bike barn to look at a Norton. Happy days will have to do that trip again some time
I've come here to comment specifically about your drone footage around the beeches. Beautifully captured. I may have to travel down that way on my Guzzi to look myself. Thanks for the map info at the start. 👍
PS. Just about to start Sub-70kg flying. A back issue prevents me from going Paragliding to Paramotoring.
M0BNR.
A friend of mine flies a Peabee which is sub 70. Looks like a nice plane
@@WiltshireMan That's exactly what I'm considering. Fly/Ride safe Sandy,
Neil.
Lovely ride, mine sounds exactly the same.
Lucky having those byways so close. I have to go about thirty miles to get to any.
