lol my first thought was actually that I could use it to sit on in the yard, by the creek, etc while I draw or read, but I do treasure it and will be careful to not get it dirty
Dear Kristen, every sunday, from 18 to about 20:00 hours, my 59 years husband decides to hear Doors, or Pink Floyd, or David Bowie...or another one of these guys from the last century...when we were both born, AS LOUD AS THE DAMNED TV ALLOWS!!! However today is Saturday and he was tasting some new wines...and I cannot watch your show now...here in Lisbon...BECAUSE HE IS GETTING ON MY NERVES WITH THIS FAMOUS GUYS INCREDIBLE MUSIC...on a Saturday, and I would rather listen to you!!! I will be back...❤❤❤❤
Have you made it to the Northern Stars Quilt Guild meetings yet? A few years ago a bunch of quilters did a Dear Jane mal and I believe a number of people completed them. They meet at night in Somers every month but every Feb. they do a Super Saturday where members teach all day classes and you can sign up for 25 bucks for a great day of quilting in community. Worth a look now that you are up in Westchester County. Have to confess I let my membership lapse but need to rejoin. Super Saturday is always terrific even if you can't make it to the evening meetings.
Kristin, I love your Age of Brass and Steam shawl. I have the pattern in my Ravelry library and now I want to make one. For your EpicMAL my plan is to try to complete my 3 scrappy blankets that I have on the go. I have a cozy memories, a scrappy granny, and the Battenburg all on the go. I would really like to put a big dent in them, if not finish.
I'm so impressed with your quilting ability and prowess!! I'm a long time viewer but stopped knitting and picked up quilting during COVID lockdowns. I'm joining the MKAL with a long cut out low volume Postcards from Sweden quilt. I'm going to hand quilt it with various threads from different places in Turkiye. Last year I spent six weeks there for my 60th birthday. 🧵 🇹🇷
My goal for the MAL is the Vair from Gudrun Johnston's 'The Shetland Trader, with turtle neck and balloon sleeves. Fingering weight on 3.5mm - colourwork and lace. Phew!
My goal for the MAL will be to get as many projects out of hibernation as I can! I'll start with my Weekender Sweater(only needs a sleeve and a half!) and my As You Wish shawl. Then, I can hopefully finish the several crochet blankets I have going (and were supposed to Christmas gifts for the last few years, whoops).

I’m tackling the Lanark Sweater at the moment. It was on hiatus whilst the pattern had a comprehensive overhaul. It’s still not 100% but through determination I’m now on the body, the easy go round and round and round. So that is my first challenging WIP - then I’ll look at my patterns and pick a challenging one
Hope you and Dennis have a lovely thanksgiving. My adult son will be a balloon handler at the Macy's day Parade! he loves it. He and his friends started doing it about 5 years ago(would have been his 5th but with the plague they had a very scaled down parade that year he wasn't balloon handling that year).
No he doesn’t get to choose the balloon, he has a pilot(those are the people in the white jumpsuits)friend that got him started doing this they have a little say. It’s not what you know it who you know kind of thing.
Such great stuff, Kristin! I especially love the way you've fussy cut the fabric for your Lightkeeper EPP project. Those radiating fern tip-looking guys are so cute! You've got a great eye for fussy cutting! I've yet to endeavor on that road but I have done a bit of EPP and intend to get pretty deep into it when I'm able! I made the Fizzalicious shawl by Ambah Obrien with my advent last year. I had quite a bit of the main color and the advent as well. So far, I have whipped up 2 fairly simple 2cowls and still have yarn for a 3rd.
Love all your projects! I dont know how you get it all done! My goal this next year is to finish the 2 mercerie gloria capelets I have started and the wall flowers blanket that I just now felt like I could afford all the yarn for it! Among a ton of other unfinished projects I have going!
When you said "Dear Jane" my reaction was a resounding NO!!! That's so last gen quilting and nobody finished it. To be fair, there was a certain amount of joy they must have received by organizing their books. They'd go to Kinko's and have the spine cut off and put the pages in sheet protectors in a binder and other sheet protectors that held each block's fabrics they were collecting. La Pas is much more this current generation of quilter's equivalent! So glad you mentioned Tula's version.
A part of me likes to think Dear Jane Stickle suffered for us quilters, creating that epic masterpiece, so we don't have to 😂 But my hats off to anyone who takes it on. I'm sure they come through the other side with massive skill!
I started the Bloom Your Heart Out shawl by Inese Sang maybe a year or two ago? And I'm approaching the final section but she is a labor of love-- hoping to finish it before 2025!

You could always do your own version of that quilt- pick your favorite blocks and make a smaller version, use your own color palette etc
