That was the one thing my mother asked of me, to please never put her in a nursing home, so I didn't. My husband and children and I cared for her in her home until she left this earth at 84vyears of age. I am so thankful to this day thatbI was able to keep my promise to her. She passed holding my hand. Thank you guys for keeping respect of the elderly and just other people in general. You are good boys. Your parents must be so proud of you. God bless you both. Thank you also for taking us on such wonderful adventures! It is so much fun.😊🇺🇸

When you see this all left with no love for her memory by her family, it really is sooo very heartbreaking. Time has changed soo much, with internet and the digital age, that a lot of the younger generation doesn’t understand, it’s irreplaceable. My heart hurts looking at those magnificent photos and her beautiful crochet and linen, and frames and 😭 everything. I wish I could save it all
Inheritance taxes in Belgium tend to be very high. That’s why, sadly enough, relatives do not take care of the furnishments of their family. Hope you still enjoyed the video.

The "little brushing tool" hanging from the cabinet is called a "TASSLE" and is simply for decoration. Lol l love your narration of everything!
Sad to think when she was 98 she was living in a decaying house without anyone to help her do the necessary repairs. So many elderly people are afraid to speak up and ask for help for fear they will be sent away to a nursing home, or a home for the unwanted and low income.

a very high age. - But imagine, the oldest lady, I had the pleasure to be acquainted to, was 103 (!) years old. I could hardly believe that myself.
This lady was very charming and adorable. She told me a lot of interesting details of her incredibly long life and - besides showing me old
photographs, - she was also very proud to be able to present me her paintings with stunning flower representations, which left me nearly
speechless, and also her knitting skills were truly remarkable. - Her brain seemed to work perfectly, and she even could walk with the help
of a rollator. - Kindest regards and have much fun in Italy and many blessings from Switzerland.
Hi Willy, that story sounds so nice about the old woman. I would love to meet a person with that age while she is still able to tell and show me a lot. The stories must have been fascinating! We are currently in italy working hard for the channel but enjoying every second of it! We love what we do and will keep on going.

It’s odd that the staircase fell down since it’s only been abandoned for 8 years. It shows how much her family cared for their family home.

for the time of your explore. - The "earring" you found, is actually a beautiful brooch, that could be made of 14ct. or even 18ct. gold
with tiny diamonds in brillliant cut. Of course I don't know for sure, but I am just guessing. - The upstairs rooms did really surprise me

Hi Willy! As a medicine student, I really care about the health of people. I’m really wondering about the earring, glad that it is still there and has not been stolen. Was really surprised by the upstairs bed rooms as well, cause I never saw pictures of any photographers from the upstairs rooms. Guess we were one of the first ones to make the climb up, and we definitely do not regret it. My friend did a great job. After all, kindest blessings from Italy right now. 98 years old wow, I hope too this lady did not suffer. Lovely home despite decay, I like everything you have captured. Nature always seems to reclaim everything after awhile. Thank you for the tour :)
Yet another lovely home. Being 98 she still loved the old ways. So sad that the relatives have not gone and gotten some oh her treasures. I love the Tiffany blue wall color. It's sad that decay can occur in very little time if there is no one to occupy. Thank you guys. The upstairs is incredible. She was unable to get to the bedroom. So many things she couldnt get to. My grandmother had some Nina ricci. Wedding photo is beautiful. I hate that she was relegated to just the downstairs rooms.

@6:10 the metal shoe that you found, I believe that it is a matchbox. One would have the unused matches standing upright in the back part of it, and after lighting the candles, you would snuff and spoil the match in the front part under the lid. Placing the lid on it, not only prevented you from spilling the burnt match, but would help to put it out. My great aunt used to have one that looked like an Arabian/Aladdin Shoe. Great video! I fell in love with the light fixture in the "Wedding Picture Upstairs Bedroom"; these are the types of things that we have tried to use throughout our home.

You mentioned the houses always have so much stuff left behind like no one cares but in America the abandoned houses are usually cleared out. That would be a very interesting cultural aspect to study.

GIVE your valuables to your loved ones (before) you pass away this will help you avoid the high inheritance tax. Remember, we do not live forever and material possessions are to be given to loved ones. A precious memory of an item can be cherished for a lifetime and passed down generation to generation. 17:44 the wedding photo circa 1930 and the furnishings in the master bedroom circa 1930 the Deco era.

6:34 If she was 98 they are probably her great-grand children. When my mother died at age 86, she already had 3 great grand children aged between 3 and 7
15:21 All the purses, handbags and jewelry boxes would be empty because the family have taken all the smaller valuable items. I doubt if they were stolen.
17:50 She died at 98 in 2011 and she looks early 20's in the photo. 2011-98+23 = 1936 approximately. Just before WWII is my guess.

I think perhaps it was around WWI as the picture of my grandparents' wedding and dress looks similar. With the calendar showing 1986 that was probably the time of the woman's passing. The amount of decay would indicate that.

Had to smile when I was watching your friend pick up a piece of jewelry and what he thought was an earring was a pin a lady would wear on her blouse or dress. Because of the age difference anything that ca be put on ear because of pierced earrings now. Funny 😀

Not sure if you were aware at the time but the "ladder" you climbed was an old metal bed frame I think. Not sure how that got downstairs if the stairs had already collapsed though....Incredible how quickly that property just fell apart. The "earring" is a brooch a.k.a. a "pin" to wear on the clothes over the left or right breast typically.
At 98, she had probably buried her children which is why the house is left in that state.

The bedspread at 17.37 looks hand crochet in size 10 lace weight. The doilies could be her crochet work too.
Fascinating! It reminded me of a old house I lived in that was furnished. It still had all that kind of stuff in it. Interestingly, I have one of those clothes hangers with the crocheted cover that looks very similar to the ones in the closet / wardrobe. Wonderful!

Ok, I understand the urban exploration, I understand that certain old artefacts fascinate people, I understand the design of furniture is beautifully done with exquisite detail, HOWEVER, what was the need to take the woman's underwear out the draw and hold it up for the world to see? REALLY!!! was their any need?

What a beautiful house! You picture of the barn was interesting in it's decay. Oh, the "brush" thing on the keys is really a tassel and was often found on drapery tiebacks & keys. The 'earring' was really a broach that would be attached to the front of a dress or coat. You did a great job (as usual) with showing details. I can picture the family living there with the Mr & Mrs raising children. Then the grandchildren would visit and probably the great-grandchildren and possibly the great-great-grandkids. A beautiful home or a family! Thank you for sharing with us and taking the chance of climbing up to the 2nd floor. Can hardly wait for the next video. Also, please tell your friend that he did a good job. Is he an urbexer in the making?

That thing you called the Brockton tool that's hanging from the cabinet it's not a brushing tool is called a tassel that's what you say in English and it would hanging from one of the curtains at one point in time🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸💜
Fake flowers used to be used or should I say some people still use them to decorate a home.
Real flowers are expensive & don't last as long. It's also adds a woman's touch to a home.
Wardrobes is used for storing clothes and etc.Display cabinets for displaying drinking glasses and crockeries not to referring Closet. Peace out ✌🏾
Hi guys, such a beautiful but very sad location, you paint a very vivid view of how things used to be. The hat at 14:26 was probably last used for her Husbands funeral as that is normally the type of hat a widow wears :'( . Roughly working it out that if she married her Husband when she was 20 years old and she died at 98 then - 20 years is 78 so 2011-78 is the year 1933 for that wedding photograph. Thank you for sharing her lovely home. xx

The first room you were in was a dinning room the second room may have been the living room or what they used to call a Parlor, the next room was a living room. I think the girl in the communion dress maybe was the daughter and the little babies may be great grandchildren. This couple must have had a bit of money the house was done up very nice at one time. Notice not one piece of good jewelry was left. Another nice video and it's nice when you have a little history about the people. You do such a great job with your channel.

Hi Onyx47tx does the deceased estate automatically not go to the kids like the next of kin. In South Africa it happens that way, even without a will.
@@ra3024 Typically the bank will foreclose on it and they file a tax write off. Most kin cant afford the taxes owed or want to deal with cleaning at all up
And you had just say that you can smell some dust! Didn’t you know that was also mixed with all the black moulds and the were so dangerous to your very own health! You might be healthy now but later on when you are a bit older ..... please take care as much as all of us love to see all the films , it’s make us feel bad for you. And also so concern for your health.
