I agree, Gavin is really fortunate. He is probably one of the most popular people on TH-cam, being a part of Rooster Teeth, Achievement Hunter, and co-founder of the Slow Mo Guys.
And even just some of the projects he's been apart of over the years, let alone how hard getting a visa over here can be.

UPDATE 8 YEARS IN THE MAKING (mostly because youtube never told me these comments existed) I have yet to cook anything because I lack a local butcher and this is legit Italian shit. Gotta get real products or become an Iron Chef.

I've always been skeptical on whether Gavin was being honest or not, but yeah, sounds to me like he's being absolutely legit. Kind of reminds me of Withnail & I, what with the older British gay dude hitting on a younger British straight dude. Awesome movie, though. GREAT to drink to.

MrOasis316 He was an apprentice to a guy that used one of the first high speed cameras. Which he kind of lucked into as well. Pretty much, when a production company wants to do a high speed effects shot, Gavin is probably the guy that is hired. He may very well be the top high speed camera technician in the world. All because he convinced a guy that owned on of two or three high speed cameras in the world to let this underaged kid follow him around and help out.
I think what Gavin and others might take issue with is that it implies he didn't work for it or that it came from his own merits. The game time episode Burnie did with Gavin you can really see how hard Gavin has worked to get where he is and he is also really talented at his chosen profession(s)
All the luck in the world won't do shit for you if you aren't able and willing to take advantage of the opportunities presented to you. A great metaphor to explain it would actually be poker. You can get the greatest hands and have the best luck with the draws but if you aren't betting appropriately and have the correct body language, being able to calculate what the other players are likely to be holding, etc etc then it won't matter. On the other hand a professional poker player can win big without ever having a decent hand too.

I don't know of anyone who would upload a for profit publication to teh interwebs in a website format. In a PDF, perhaps, but not as a dedicated webpage.
Too expensive.
That said, the only way to Google something like that would be if the website had that information. You cannot search a PDF from Google. You can locate its existence, but you can only search the contents from within the file.

Jason Gilbertson If you search up a couple people from the acknowledgements at the same time, I'm pretty sure they'll be on the same website in the results a couple of times. If you click on it, it will send you to the programme that Simon Hopkinson, Gavin's Secret Admirer, was presenting. That's how I found out.

That was Joe the cat and I'm 90% sure he was Green Screened onto the table that could be the episode where he was a lazy bugger and was sleeping on there green screen floor ramp wall thing (no clue what its called all I know is that its a green wall and floor with no edges the corners are all rounded like ramps) but ya Joe was passed out so broadcast decided to place him on the table they also made him bigger and smaller randomly because they where bored
Gavin is 100% right though. Middle aged gay men are the *KINGS* of subtle flirting. Worked out with one for a whole week before I finally realized what was happening and I just flat out said I'm not gay and he was _soooo_ apologetic lmao

I love Barbara's face at the beginning. When Gavin asks if they ever get attention from dudes you can tell she's stopping herself from saying no. I'm not sure if she was thinking "no I've never gotten any attention from females" or if she just blanked for a moment and was honestly about to say she's never gotten attention from guys.
Or I could be wrong and she could just be amazed at the way the conversation is going but honestly the way these podcasts go? I'd be surprised if that were the case.

one time when my brother was in high school he attracted gays for some reason i mean his previous high school he had like three girl friend but here it was guys for some reason but what happened was he had a secret admirer that one day decided ti say that they were dating so what happened was the next day one of the gays that were really interested in him was like hes mine and looked like he was about to start a fight with this girl and my brother just happened to be there but he did not know about the rumor of the girl and him dating so he properly got in the middle of them and was like wow wow wow whats going on here or something i don't know what he said but the gay guy was like don't worry ill fight to keep you or something like that ad the girl was getting so nervous she got so red in the face my brother thought she was about to faint or something so he asked if she was ok like a normal human being and all of a sudden she throws herself around him and asked pleas help me i don't want to get hurt and that did not help my brother because after the fight he knew about the rumor and by this point he was in this deep how we gonna stop the rumors o what i did i did a segment on the new thig that our school did once a month so i did the whole rumor segment and sice i knew everything that happened i decided to clear this up and confirmed that my brother also was ot gay and the girl was just being a bitch and they were not dating
