    How do you so your squats with Resistance Bands?

      I use my straight bar and stand on the band. Hold the straight bar in the crook (maybe not the right word) of my elbows and hold my hands out in front of my like a normal squat. 4 sets of 10.

      Question: to increase the resistance using the. Handle band under your feet, couldn’t you adjust where you grip it?

    I'm not really a fan of bilateral compound leg excercises with bands (except for hipthrusts and glute bridges), thats because even if you do everything right and start from a position where you have good tension it's always gonna be less resistance at the bottom/stretch, but thats the biggest benefit of squats and deadlifts: peak tension at the stretch. Hipthrusts are other story because they are hardest at the top where you have most band resistance. So what i did is replacing Squats and deadlifts with single leg versions: Band resisted step ups, band resisted split squats , band resisted bulgarian split squats, band resisted single leg deadlifts, band resisted single leg good mornings. You can even do band resisted pistol squats if you are that strong! We always say your muslces don't know which tool you are using to justify bands, but thats true about excercises too: your quads and glutes don't know the difference between Squats and split squats. I think those are far better options because you are mixing hard bodyweight excercises with band resistance, thats why band resisted push ups are so effective too. The good thing about it is that even if you have less band resistance at the bottom your own bodyweight will be challenging enough in that position, think about holding the bottom position of a bodyweight bulgarian split squat, it's hard! I just found that if you get creative you can do a lot of hard bodyweight excercises with added band resistance.

      Great insight, a lot of people do not understand the importance of working out your legs individually. JP you know what you are doing 👍🏾

    I love your idea about using the Undersun band by placing it over your forearms. I hate doing squats because I suck at it, as far getting lower. Your technique will definitely work for me. I'm a new subscriber and watching all of your videos; common sense approach, great explanations and demonstrations. 👍👍

    i do my squats with my x heavy band with the the heavy. always layering the smaller bands over the x heavy band. I also add another band infront of me to mimic a Spanish squat so i can squeeze at the top.

    I found that placing the loop bands under your feet, then gripping it and raising it above your head as far as you can stretch then squatting gives you maximum resistance. It's really intense and what's even good about it is that it really helps work on stabilising muscles to help your balance as you have to have complete control over your movements.

      The problem there is you're never going to squat heavier than what you can overhead press. And in reality squats are much heavier

    If you also have a bar, you can do Zercher squats, standing on the bands, with the bar held in the elbows. 👌

    I prefere 2 equal loop bands. One from left foot overhead to the right shoulder, the other from the right foot overhead on the left shoulder (looking like an X across your body) . When you try to stand up now, you have a stable, centered resistance and no force front- or backwards. That's the way it works amazing.

      @DisciplineDave  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nice 👍🏾 I’ll have to try that

    I struggle with heavier resistance and getting into position for front squats with loop bands. Found that a hex squat type with band doubled over to be easiest for me kind of like doing RDLs

      Front squats are always tricky

  • @njsingh9065
    @njsingh9065 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I use the loop band but I don't hold it with hands. I position myself similar to cross hand front squat & then loop goes over the side of my bisceps passing through crosshands and my hands just rest over it. The benefit I get is that for heavy band, force is not transferred to hands instead goes to more over shoulder- biscep area which can withstand better tension of bands.

    • @DisciplineDave
      @DisciplineDave  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I like your way, but this way the tension is not focused on the hands it is eventually place on the side of the arms and the hands assist, but do whatever works best for you 👍🏾

    I'm new to working out with bands. I think the worst way to do squats with bands is to put them behind your neck. I see many doing that with the loop bands. I tried it and found that it puts a high amount of pressure on my neck. That can't be good. I will try doing the front squats that you showed.

    Hi
    Dear Mr.Dave I have a question.
    I see that you use one band ( x-heavy) for the squats, how is it enough resistance ?.
    I train with bands but some exercises need multiple bands.
    Thank you for your content.

    • @DisciplineDave
      @DisciplineDave  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes 1 is enough for me on the last exercise with the XL Undersun fitness resistance band 👍🏾

      @@DisciplineDave what reps range you train with ?
      Many say that bands needs high reps

    • @DisciplineDave
      @DisciplineDave  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on the day I switch from light resistance 3 sets of 15-20 to heavy resistance 3 sets of 8-10, both are important for muscle growth

    What do you think of the X3 bar elite bands??

  • @mr.boxingmoves486
    @mr.boxingmoves486 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I prefer using a bar with the loop bands...
    like a front squat. and I feel like an add more bands and it feels more even.
    NOT better or worse just personal preference.
