    ABOUT…
I am Rebecca and I am one heck of a passionate vocal coach/singer/songwriter/impressionist/health/fitness/self- improvement/anything that makes me smile!! I love anything vocal/singing related and geek out on it every day. I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2017 and my ovaries and fallopian tubes. The tumour was the size of a 20 week baby!! However, despite not being able to walk for a couple of weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…?
Also thank you for all your support. It means a lot.

    Have a great day!!

What I love about BabyMetal is how they can mix the hyper-feminine with the hyper-masculine without compromising either.
And they're really the first act that captures the pure joy I feel when hearing those heavy, heavy riffs. When I was a teen I used to say the music is angry so I don't have to be, but the truth is it's always been my Happy Music and BabyMetal knows how to bring that to the fore with their feminine energy and dancing.

Babymetal are one of my favourite things that have happened in the last ten years. On paper, the concept seems like a complete contradiction, and even a kind of offense against the masculine, angry, darkness-loving ethics of metal, but it turns out to be a magical complementing of opposites. Complementarity? Anyway. It works. And Su-metal's voice is lovely.

@El-ahrairah Only in that they have the Kawaii, "Idol" form of pop culture which doesn't really exist (yet) elsewhere, of the veneration of cute adolescent girls as a distinct, platonic subset of modelling and girlband manufacturing. If we had that, and on balance I think I'm glad we don't, it could have happened here, just by musical experiment.

These girls have been performing together since they were little kids. They come from a Japanese Performing Arts Academy (for adolescent girls) called Sakura Gakuin. They started performing together as Babymetal when Yui & Moa were 11yo and Su (lead singer) was 12yo. There is a ton of info about these girls and Babymetal all over the internet. Everything about Babymetal is carefully planned and done intentionally, from their cute outfits, choreography, Yui & Moa's child sounding backup vocals, to the top notch Kami band that backs them up; it's a very elaborate production that they've managed to pull off with great success. They have tons of great songs and their performances are fun to watch; they were clearly gifted child performers.
One of the best things about them is, even though they're world famous, they're very humble, polite, respectful, etc. and carry themselves with dignity.

BABYMETAL are a Japanese metal/idol group that mix a Japanese kawaii aesthetic with metal. They were originally a sub-group of a larger group, Sakura Gakuin, but became so successful in Japan that they became a separate group. In Japan, they have played huge stadiums and arenas, including two nights at the Tokyo Dome. They've released two albums, and the third is on the way. The band is here comprised of SUMETAL, credited with vocal and dance, MOAMETAL, credited with 'scream' and dance, and YUIMETAL, credited with 'scream' and dance. Effectively, SUMETAL is the lead singer while YUIMETAL and MOAMETAL take on background chants and vocal parts. They have played Wembley Arena in London and are playing The Forum in Los Angeles in October. In October of 2018, YUIMETAL left BABYMETAL due to poor health, leaving SUMETAL and MOAMETAL as a duo, and their first show back this year is entitled BABYMETAL AWAKENS and takes place at Yokohama Arena. BABYMETAL are an incredible band who you should definitely spend some more time reacting to :)

Seems as you've stepped into the foxhole. I'm amazed no one has given you their history yet. 😂😂 Babymetal fans are the best tho.
The lead singer Suzuka Nakamoto, or Su-Metal by her stage name, has been singing since she was little. Entering the Hiroshima Actors school and later forming a trio J-pop idol group at the age of 10 named Karens Girl's then later was a founding member of the idol group Sakura Gakuin from which Babymetal is a sub- unit of. Or was. Their success was so good that they continued as a separate act after Suzuka graduated from Sakura Gakuin. Yui Mizuno and Moa Kikuchi, the other 2 girls were also in Sakura Gakuin but are 1 1/2 years younger than Su. So they all have been getting vocal training and choreography training since they were children. There is much more to the story of Babymetal but I will reserve that info for other fans to indulge, especially if you decide to react to another Babymetal song/ video. Fans will suggest some songs like Road of Resistance or Rondo of Nightmare to show off Su's voice. I say just pick ANY song at random. Every song they do is entirely different, as they are masters of mixing genres. Their base is metal and J-pop, but there are so many different genres of metal that each song is entirely different from each other. Everything from Melodic death metal to progressive and Nü metal. Have fun exploring Babymetal. ❤

Basically, Babymetal wants you to feel like, "what in the world am I watching?" until you slowly love them. Su-metal, the lead vocals, has been singing since she was 5 and in this concert she was 18. Basically, she's got a lot of experience in her belt, so I'm sure any vocal coach would love her voice. On that note, try reacting to her solo song, Akatsuki live at the Budokan.

Good reaction and analysis - there is so much to explore in the Babymetal catalogue and you will be hard pressed finding any two songs the same with many different metal genres as well as other genres thrown into the mix - and all of their performances are precise, energetic and maintain the same high quality while being good fun.

thank you for the awesome reaction, i love it! and specially for choosing a live version for this song! live is where this band shines the most!
The two belted "Hashire" at the end are really awesome, you also should now, they keep the intense level of energy throughout their whole set and Karate is most of the time played near the end, it shows how well trained her vocals are!
i've requested two Su(Lead Singer) solo songs underneath your last Judas Priest reaction, and it seems youtube wants to help me, cause it recommended exactly one of them at the end of the karate video now (No Rain, No Rainbow live legend S *edit, it was "in the name of", i've just glanced at it and saw the Legend S picture and assumed it was NRNR) and that was specially for the Voice Trainer aspect, cause in the solo songs, Su can show off way more!
would be glad to hear either Akatsuki (pretty fast and powerfull) or No Rain, No Rainbow(strong rock ballad) next!
Can't wait to see them live again, i fly over to japan just for their concerts in late june/early july this year!
Much love from Austria, keep up the awesome work Rebecca! :)

Babymetal are one of those bands that I don't want to love but secretly do... they are all ridiculously talented musicians and performers... Su-metal appears to have an abundance of confidence, as every live performance I have watched, she owns the stage and the thousands of screaming fans don't seem to phase her one bit. The rhythm section are also incredibly tight.

I've seen Babymetal live a number of times and that is really the best way to experience them. I was lucky enough to be at their Wembley concert in 2016. There is such a connection and passing of energy between the band and the crowd which creates such a feeling of euphoria that I didn't notice how broken I had become until after the show had finished. I literally limped out of the arena (I hadn't even been in one of the mosh pits!) Looking forward to seeing them again in July at the O2 in Brixton.

  • @DeePal072

SU is amazing on so many levels, but if I've to pick the two most awesome aspects of her voice, I'd go with: 1) how clear she sounds, it's so easy to grasp every single word despite the massive, massive sound from the Kami band, 2) how steady it is, despite her dancing, yes, sometimes you can tell she's tired, still this kind of resistance is remarkable. BTW, Akatsuki is probably her most iconic solo, she's very theatrical while performing that song, I love it so much, but if you're looking for something more "sweet", No Rain No Rainbow is the classic power ballad. Also quite interesting is Rondo of Nightmare, where she empathize a lot the sound "ru".

I would love to see you react to either No Rain No Rainbow as has been suggested, but I feel Rondo of Nightmare (with Mischiefs of God intro) is an even better one for a vocal coach to react to, because the magic of the performance is all in Sumetal's interpretation of the song. The lyrics of the song is filled with despair, but Su sings with so much power and defiance that the meaning of the song changes into one of facing one's demons even when the odds are stacked against you.
