- In this episode I show you how I make my Checkerboard Star Block using all 5 sizes of my scrappy stash baskets vs the traditional way.
I explain why and how to choose which size strip baskets when cutting scrappy for this block! It's one of my very favorite scrappy go-to blocks that I have ever designed and I hope that you enjoy this visit in my sewing room! #Quilting

Bought your ironing board cover. I have my moms wood ironing board my dad made when they got married in 1940. We always has an old scrap of sheet on it. NOW IT HAS THE PERFECT COVER IT HAS DESERVED ALL THES YEARS. IM SURE THEY ARE PROUD. I AM!!!!
Lori you have made my quilting experience so much easier and fun! I have been teaching myself in my retirement and simply love your fabrics! I follow you and Fat Quarter Shop! Jut love your scrappy stash system! Also, the easy corner triangle technique is such a great idea. I’ve never seen another quilter (or pattern) do that. I’d like to put this block into a table runner. Can’t wait for your next knitting TH-cam and showing us how to make those cute spool pads.
Dear Lori, I had never thought I would ever like your kind of quilts🙈. I‘m more a „neutral“ Person and love modern quilts. And then? I started watching your videos…., nothing at the beginning…., I watched more and more and more… and now I am one of your biggest fans. I started to love your bright colours, I especially I love the combinations of your backgrounds with those bright colours. I am fascinated by the creavity of all your blocks, of the variety they offer. I love listening to your explanations and stories about your grandma. I can’t stop watching your videos, even if it’s in the middle of the night like now. Many thanks, Lori for sharing how you cut and use your scrap baskets. I have bought baskets now too and am starting to cut and sort by size. It is a great system. I still have leftover fabrics still needing to be cut and do those a little at a time. I love it when I can do these scrappy block from my leftovers!
Love watching this series....I learn so much from you each week. I have not made a 9 patch from just one strip set and an extra square, have always made two strip sets-- your method is so much more efficient. I absolutely love this block! My husband happened to see you previewing all your blocks and said, “I like those. Can you make me a table runner for my plant table? With the dark colors? I don’t like pastels.” So, I guess I’m making a table runner…..actually two. I already decided to make one for my sewing room. In pastels. Thanks for the great videos, always with good tips.
