Yes, always hollow out prints with printing in resin for multiple reasons. One, you save so much resin. Two, the parts are much stronger when they are hollow. I use Meshmixer to hollow all my models.
@@karmieh thanks for your quick reply! Another nooblile questkon, in order to "get rid of inner fluid" i guess you need to make a hole in the model? or is that overkill??
@@Benjamin-vx2ot It's good that you asked. You must have drainage holes on your model cause if you don't add the, the 3d prints will fail. You can add those holes using meshmixer as well, but I like using another tool called Chitubox just for adding holes cause it gives me a bit more control. I'll try to make a new video about that process.
Why the need of dynameshing at the end of done boolean and not just leave it as it is? It has less polys than dynamesh before and the same detail. I dont understand why i would add an unnecessary dynamesh on top of it at the end? The mesh seems watertight and having only 4 faces at the key doesnt matter I thought? Cant you jsut mask the aread and then decimate?
You can, but sometimes when it decimates, it would break the key, or it decimates them as two parts, and in some of the slicers I used, it would create a gap or not print that part, so it became the way I work. Do a couple of tests and see if you have that problem. If not then you can skip that step.
Nice video, thanks for putting it out there. It's a common question. fwiw - I pretty much do the same but I decimate for printing before I key. Then there's no need to dynamesh and no observable loss of detail. However there are also no problems with decimating after doing the boolean between a low poly key and a high poly dynamesh. So maybe the issue you've been seeing in that regard has been fixed. Your version, 4R8 is nearly five years old. Current version is 2021.5.1 and free, as it has been since it's inception, for registered users. Go get it now. Cheers.
Thanks for the kind words. Yes, most of the problems have been fixed I recorded this video a while ago and I wanted to share the technique on cleaning and preparing a model for keying. I might do a new one with the latest version. I know that the upgrades are free but usually, if I am busy with a project I don't update cause I have certain plugins that I want to make sure they work properly and also all-new version has bugs and I wait a while until I upgrade. I am currently still using the 2020 version.
Great video :D! And super helpful, thank you!
Thank you so much! I am really happy to hear that you found it helpful! Multumesc mult. ☺
does it make sense to hollow out these parts too? for resin prints? what is your advise here?

@@karmieh Awesome thanks a lot!! 👍
@@Benjamin-vx2ot Happy to help!
Whn you sculpted this, did you sculpt the parts seperate or did you sculpt it from one piece and then cut it up after?
I rarely sculpt anything out of one piece, Usually I'll sculpt in parts, easier to manage and the results are way cleaner.

@@karmieh thanks for clearing that up! As for now I didnt run ibto your issue. Might be a slicer thing or older sofrware issues
@@幽霊船-o4h Yeah, it might be, cause I did record that 2 years ago, I guess it's time for an updated version. Cheers! I hope you found it helpful
