Your review put me over the edge and I snagged this from Safe and Sound on a black Friday deal. Just picked up a Rotel RMB-1075 today as well to pull the front 3 off of the Cinema and to the Rotel. Cinema will be here in 2 days so I can start to audition. Can't wait!! Keep up the good work.
I have two of the Marantz NR series receivers and never understood why they could not include just one more pre out for the center channel. That would have been amazing! Still, I really think the NR series are great and they make great pre-amps. The NR1510 is a GREAT unit.
Man I paired this up with the dm70s… I was curious to see if it could push it and to my surprised… wow. The receiver has idk what but it has it. “Easy to live with” I like that. 😊
After watching your review and Andrew’s I get this AVR paired with the focal Dome Flax 5.1 , sounds amazing in my room, I still working in the settings, I feel that I can get more from the Marantz.
@ Thanks nice Chanel by the way, very clear info,If that's what I've heard gives the best results, I normally run the calibration and adjust based on that, apart from the crossovers, distances and decibels, do you modify anything in the graph eq part?
Mine is delivering tomorrow. Got a great deal. It is going in my bedroom because it is not enough channels for the Home Theater. I might try it before I put it in the bedroom. It will be interesting to see how it compares to my AV7705 in 7.1
Great review. Btw that 70% Marantz Guarantee is only for up to 5 channels, not all. Which means 50 x 0.7 = 35W per channel for 5 channels driven. Which in turn you can calculate 5 x 35 = 175W total power. And for all channels driven, in this case seven, 175 / 7 = 25W for all channels driven at 8 ohms 20 Hz - 20 kHz and 0.05% distortion (THD). Which is not bad compared to others. But yeah the bs and lying is strong with these AV companies. The Yamaha V6A for example which is 100W Stereo 20Hz-20kHz at 8Ω 0.06% THD. I calculated that it's about 28.5W All Channels Driven.
late to the party here, but this is valid info. I have a Yamaha A760 7 channel AVR that I want to upgrade. Audioholics reviewed the next model in the Yamaha line back then (A860) and testing showed that, with 5 channels driven, only output 35 WPC! Which means my 760 probably outputs even less WPC than the 860 does. This is sobering news, and Audioholics even criticized Yamaha for under powering their AVRs driving multiple speaker loads in real world systems. Despite this weakness, my Yamaha is a good sounding unit that provides adequate power to my KEF Q series 5.1 home theater. Adequate power yes, great effortless power, no. So the relatively low WPC rating of the Cinema 70s in my opinion, is far from a rip off, especially for many people who want good, room-filling sound without dangerous volume levels that will most certainly damage your hearing. I’m 75 years old and still have excellent hearing acuity.
Big fan of mine also. It's easily driving 5 B&W speakers (somewhat vintage) that are known to be current hungry and this little thing has no problem making the house rock. Though, I'm adding two small monoblocks - the new Fosi V3 Monos for a mere $100-ish per channel - to drive the main stereo pair - just because I can, not because I must. Offloading the main stereo pair leaving the rest of the amplification to drive surrounds seems like a plan, especially as I'm doing 5.2.2. Literally the only thing I wish it had was two more pre-outs - for one more Atmos pair, so I could do front and rear heights. I guess Marantz didn't want to cannibalize sales of their higher end models... Front heights is great, though.
Man, this thing looks pretty good for the money... thinking about pairing this with an Outlaw amp for Totem Forest's, Signature One's, a Signature Center, and a Signature Sub.... what do you think?
Thanks for the video. =) Just ordered one of these. Do you think a different DAC like the one in Wiim Ultra would be benificial in a setup with this receiver for music?
I did not find 2ch music enjoyable with the Marantz Cinema 70 so added a Stereo Amp with AV Bypass to the Marantz Cinema 70's Front L&R Pre-outs, then just plug in music sources to the Stereo Amp, which is much more rewarding separate 2ch music playback
@@dragonstone6594 I have the Marantz Cinema 70 and I am underwhelmed with the 2 channel stereo sound that is why I was asking what dac is in the Cinema 70. I will be adding a Stereo Amp as well.
2ch music from Marantz Cinema 70 doesn't sound good as it is going through Digital Decoders of the AV Receiver it's better to use a dedicated Stereo Amp for music I paired the Marantz Cinema 70s with Emotiva BasX A3 Power Amp for Movies sounds great for Movies like this @@dragonstone6594

For the same piece, better this or x2800h? I don't have a particularly large environment and I thought I'd combine this system with ELAC or TRINGLE speakers (3.1 solution). Thank you
If I want to use as is, do you think it will pair up well with efficient Klipsch speaker package? Say the Reference Premiere 600 and 500 Mk2s with matching sub?
I don’t have experience with the Klipsch speakers unfortunately. But it runs fine with the Q Acoustics 3000i bookshelf package which is my mainstay. Not sure if that helps…
Does this unit play album art on the tv through hdmi earc and the sound coming from the amp for example through Spotify connect but album art on the tv? Everyone says the tv will downsample if you use the tv apps to stream. Do you notice that?
Oh, I use an Apple tv 4k for everything. My TVs are older (crappy) so I don’t trust the old Samsung TV OS. I haven’t tried the LP art from Marantz via HDMI hmjust yet. I’ll not this for my upcoming Cinema 60 Review!
Likely an entry-level Ti chip. Marantz is a premium brand, but the DAC in the Cinema 70S is probably no better than what's in Sony's AVR lineup (aside from the ES line). I'd recommend a Topping external DAC if you want to make a digital source dance. Having said that, the Cinema 70S does have warm, musical amplification. I could see a set of Polk or Focal home theater speakers making up for any DAC weaknesses.

@ oh, well I think if you’re looking to upgrade from your current receiver then you shouldn’t be looking at this one. This is a slimline receiver.
