Thanks so much sir. It's so easy to do when you know how and yet so complicated if you don't know how. I really struggled up until now that I've seen your video. You are a star.
This clears up the use of this software for me. I thought the content manager was for ANY content. It seems that it is only for Steinberg content. Thanks
Hey musictech got a quick question. Being new to Cubase, I thought everything available would be downloaded with the DAW. Can I designate the sound loops and groove agent contents to an external ssd? I can't find an option to switch install location
One useful extra tip could be that if you happen to have more than one vstsound file in a folder; if you doubleclick on the first one, all vstsound files in that folder will be registered.
When i move the libraries on mac via the manager it does not organize them in their respective folders? Also my GA5 full version content is not showing in the library manager.
Good day... I need to know how to back up installed Steinberg Loops/Samples and VSTi's, downloaded and installed via Download assistant. In case I need to format and reinstall Windows so that I do not need to installed everything again via download assistant which takes a long time. Currently using Cubase 12 and Windows 11
Fantastic. Cubase is a real enigma trying to figure out things that are not really that intuitive. The help manual is basically a waste of time as they often tell you about something but not how to do it. It is an amazing DAW though and thanks to experts like you we mere mortals can learn stuff. Many thanks as I downloaded those 5 free plug ins and had no idea where they had gone. I now know to look in Media bay. Question? at this stage I don’t have a midi keyboard and when I drag a chord pad sound into Halion Sonic it is one bar long. How can I make it say 1/4 bar long easily? I am using Cubase 10.5 AI Thanks for any help you can give me 👍👍👍🤗🤗🤗
Hi Derek. Glad you've found the videos useful! When you say "drag a chord pad sound into Halion Sonic", can you be a bit more explicit, in terms of what you're dragging in, and from where (the answer depends on this!)
@@musictechtuition Ok if I have chosen a chord progression in chord pads and want to drag and drop the chord pad key note into my instrument track then by default it seems to be one bar long. If to try to shorten it by dragging on the bottom of the midi file inserted it shortens but the chord keeps sounding past the point it’s been set to. Do I have to double click on and shorten it in the lower section? 😀
@@derekfromtauranga6012 Yes - the reason being if you shorten the part that's created, that doesn't actually shorten the notes inside it, so they will still run for the original duration. You'll need to edit the *notes* themselves in the editor by double-clicking the part and using appropriate tools to change their length (either cut with scissors or click and drag the end of the notes). Yes, you can, but the easiest way is to remove them in the Library manager, re-download them, and then re-install using the Library manager, and point them to the new location. I'll probably do another video on this 'next level' method soon, as it can be useful to do it - particularly if you have a computer with limited SSD space (such as a 128GB mac!)

Always enjoy your tutorials, clear and concise, just what you need to know. I just finished building a new desktop computer, running Windows 10. What do think about the idea, to install Cubase, all add-ons + sound libraries on a separate drive ? In the past, everything installed on my Windows C: drive. I’m using Cubase 11 Pro, and very happy with it. Is it as easy as download, install after changing drive letter ? That’s a new install from the scratch. Then add more content to this new Cubase drive. Thank you ! Ronnie
You'd want to change the installation location when you do it, rather than move them afterwards. It's straightforward to do, providing it's a drive that's always present when the computer is turned on (i.e. not a removable)
@@musictechtuition Thx for quick reply ! Discovered the same thing, better do it afterwards. Cubase so tightly knit to Windows, very hard choosing install drive. I’ll move later, maybe :)
is there a way to just access the sounds though in finder? or do we have to create wav files and export them? For instance on third party plugins that require you to import samples from finder and won't recognize them if they are dragged and dropped from MediaBay
Hello. I have just upgraded to Cubase 13 pro. I downloaded all sound banks and instruments that I see below Cubase 13 tag on download assistant, but when I run Cubase I see that many sounds are red marked and it seems I don't have them. I really can't understand which banks I own, which I don't. Is Cubase licensing making the problem or I did smh wrong? Now the media bay is also very messed up and I can't solve it. Any ideas???
Hello! This isn't uncommon, alas. In fact, I had it with a client only last week. The only way I found to fix it in his case was the following (which I agree is painful, but please don't shoot the messenger - I don't work for Steinberg, and don't have any influence over how any of this works...) Open up steinberg Library Manager, and remove ALL of the libraries shown under Halion. Open Cubase and open up Halion Sonic. You should see no libraries in there, but no 'no entry' signs either. Reinstall the Halion Content that you own using a) or b) a) You can try doing this by finding the previously-downloaded files, (which will be in your Downloads / Steinberg / {operating system} / Content Halion 7 folder, but the problem with that is that you may re-install things you don't have a licence for. b) Go to Steinberg download assistant, and under 'My Product Downloads' you should find your version of Cubase, and then the content that you have a licence for. Download them and they should get installed. Maybe best to try one-by-one, opening Cubase and Halion Sonic each time to check which work and which dont. HTH
That will work (as any location will do), but you'd need to make sure that the bandwidth is OK - USB 3 drive should be fine, providing it's actually producing the appropriate data rates (I've had a couple where they are USB 3, but are actually not very fast), and of course making sure it's present when you run Cubase as otherwise there will be a series of dialogue boxes to deal with...
I laid down a piano note sequence using chord track which wasn’t that difficult and set up a drum track. If I want to duplicate that track so I can use strings or synth on it how do I do that. If I try and add a new chord track it won’t let me. So how do I do this? 😊
Hi Darren, I have all the Steinberg downloaded files saved on a fob key, on my Mac I have a overallocation detected on Main Drive problem, if I reinstall Monterey as Ventura had a problem with my UR22mk11, and the midi edit when copying didn’t function, would my saved Steinberg files be of any use, when reinstalling Cubase, save downloading them all again, ? 🤷♂
Hi Nick. The .vstsound files that you have on your key will be installable - they're exactly the ones that are downloaded, and all that happens with the Library Manager is that it moves them to the right location and registers them as present. So I think you can just double-click them and that will open the library manager, and then you can install them from there (it should do all of them once you do one as it will check the folder where the one is and do the lot). HTH.
Thanks for that info Darren, I’m wondering if you have installed Ventura, because when I installed it, my UR22mk11 had to be removed and plugged back in at every boot up, and copying MIDI Holding tthe key down never produced the green arrow so it just moved what you were trying to copy. If that’s cleared up I’ll go for the update rather than a reinstall, only it wasn’t a straight revert back to Monterey last time, but it was very soon after it came out, that I don’t normally do, for the very reason I had to get back to Monterey the system not the place 😂😂👍
@@njm20music Hi Nick. No, still holding off on upgrading to Ventura on either mac - until it's all clear from all the plugin manufacturers I have, I'll be leaving it (plus there are other media production issues which may be affected by the change, so I may well leave it longer)... so still on Monterey 12.6.1 on both macs.

Actually Steinberg messed up my update by installing new content on a different drive than it was with the previous version. Such a mess with the new downloader app the have. No idea how I can get my loops back in the media bay.
HI Pat. It shouldn't matter that it's on a different drive to previous content - I _hope_ that following the steps in the video will let you get new content up and running. At worst, you should be able to download the content files individually (from the full version listing) and then install them - that should do the trick. Long-winded, I know, but hopefully it'll work.
@@musictechtuition Thanks, not sure it will. But I will try at home. Clicking the sample cards (the defaults in Cubase, like Bloom) now shows up empty.
