The atmosphere for Cynthia's battle in Platinum is so immersive. There's tension, and a sense of determination. Like you have to beat her, it's what's been leading up to that very moment.
I don't know, I just really love the way it was executed, honestly.
Diamond and Pearl kinda played it safe. They did a lot that Gen 2 did, and Cynthia showing up often was something that occurred just like Lance. Maybe it was because I watched Paul get his cocky ass handed to him by her Garchomp in the anime that let me know she was the champ..

That's why Platinum is so good it took the only truly bad part of D/P and improved it.

How about the evolution of the boss battles for each evil team in pokemon?

Batdogduke I feel like Lusamine has a more evil boss feel than Guzma, but Guzma is technically the leader of the evil team, since the Aether Foundation isn't really "bad".

Crazy Dragon that's what i was thinking, as i am playing this game, I thought Skull were the bad guys, while Either foundation were the other way around. Although the president seemed to have that "good girl gone bad" style of team, don't think she really is a villain. Now skull, no doubt about that! Those were the peeps to look out for. Now just to be sure, I'm a blind trainer, so i can't see the dialogue on screen, but i'm pretty sure Gladion was apart of skull, but acting as a rogue. Just apart of the team, but in the end, he really helps you out. It can show on the way to the 4th island.

Jordan kwok Yeah but it was proven the strongest back in Gen 2 due to it getting easy gym fights and sleep powder being the most broke move back then. To me choosing a starter in Gen 1 is like picking a mode, Bulbasaur was Easy, Squirtle was Medium and Charmander is Hard.

I beat him with Butterfree level 10, Bulbasaur was weakened by his Geodude. tbh choosing your starter back then was picking a mode, Bulbasaur for Easy, Squirtle for Normal and Charmander for Hard. The only reason why I never chose charmander was because him and Squirtle were just too overrated, I chose Bulbasaur and immediately loved him. He was the best starter in gen 1 due to all the advantages a grass type had along with the broken Sleep powder move and the fact that Lance had a bug where he's stuck using barrier when you use Venusaur against his Dragonites. Bulbasaur was just plain broken beyond belief.
Bulbasaur was the best starter in gen 1, by a Million Miles. The Toxic + Leech Seed combo was absolutely devasting and bulldozed everything in its way. Too bad, people choose the sucky dragon instead.

You gotta love the classic Blue's champion theme. I'm not saying that out of nostalgia, it's really that good with how crazy it is. It gives you the sense of "THIS is what's it's all lead to."

Honestly the game's never challenging as long as 'shift' is turned on. Being able to switch after beating a pokemon just makes the game WAYYY too easy.

I still think Cynthia is far more of a challenge than other champions. While everyone seems to have problems with her Garchomp, I have a worse time with that damn Milotic. At one point, My staraptor was confused, attracted, paralyzed, and frozen. That's just insane. The Garchomp was still annoying, but the Milotic was the real problem

Pokémon games got progressively easier to appeal the younger scrubs, I've always wished there was a difficulty setting at the beginning of the game, to make you feel like you actually have to train before a battle with a gym or an area filled with trainers, maybe even have some trainers with scaling Pokémon levels like a certain trainer can have a Pokémon with minimum level of 15 BUT that trainer's Pokémon will scale to your party's average level or top level Pokémon, it would definitely make the games feel a lot better in the sense that you can't simply single train your starter and 1 other Pokémon then wipe everything with your starter, kinda stupid if you ask me, then again ash does it with pikachu but whatever.

In those games Feraligatr was a beast, he had an incredible movepool

I remember when i battled cythia in pokemon pearl. I was so damn mad at her garchomp that i just restartet the entire game
In my eyes best to worst champions:
1) Steven - Great mixture of defense with Spikes Skarmory and Dual Screen Claydol and offense with Aggron and Metagross. Plus ORAS mad it worse with giving him one of the best Megas in the game with all of its moves being tough claws boosted. Most trouble I had with a champion to date.
2) Cynthia - A good well rounded team with hard hitters like Garchomp, even though I never onced struggled with it thanks to Gastrodon. But still really solid team with no huge weakness.
3) Kukui (well the last battle with him anyways) - This is the only champion that sometimes make actual competitive plays with lead stealth rock Lycanroc and Braviary with Tailwind support since a lot of his pokemon are slow. This wasn't that easy at least for me.
4) Blue - Despite the limited movepool of gen 1, his team was well rounded and just felt good to defeat this smug rival.
5) Iris - Not the hardest fight, but she did had some good counters to cover her Dragons' weaknesses. Plus DDance Haxorus is not to be laughed at.
6) Alder - His Quiver Dance Volcarona will sweep you if you let it set up. Otherwise rocks destroy his team.
7) Wallace - Sceptile gives you a quick win against him, but that freaking Milotic is irritating to deal with...
8) Diantha - Way too easy, but then again the whole game was easy.
9) Lance - Pathetic excuse for a battle. You can sweep his whole team with just Lapras or just with 2 moves: Ice Beam and Thunderbolt/Thunder.
***** ..... But I put the first generation at no. 4 and put some of the later ones like gen 6 and gen 5 lower than that. So what are you talking about?

SALT THE WOUND In my opinion Lance's music sucks. And no, Cynthia can not be swept by a single pokemon, Blue can not be swept by a single pokemon, Iris can not be swept by a single pokemon, and so on. Lance was really easy.

I miss those days when we would use moves like dig on arcanine, steelwing on any flying pokemon, aerial ace, brickbreak, rocktomb, hyperbeam, shock wave...
special attack on aggron, physical attack with alakazam.... after all, it was all we have...maybe that's why the things were harder and funnier, the reward of beating the champion was great...Good old times...
Just looking back to the first game comparing to the game now brings so much memories and I'm proud of this series

robin nene agreed the hardest elite four was first gen's. Easiest for me had to be third gen. I don't know why. I always go into each battle under leveled yet I blew them away. Most disappointing champion for me was Wallace. Steven was great then we had Wallace in emerald and he wasn't a challenge.

Lance in HGSS was definitely the hardest for. I know that he’s seen as easy, but I remember having such a sense of confidence after beating him.

Evolution of Registering the Pokedex
Looks like levels don't matter in terms of difficulty, Gen 1, Gen 3, Gen 4, and their respective remakes (albeit 4) seem to have the most decent Champion battles.
have yet to play Gen 5, so I'm curious to check that out for myself.
I think what it comes down to is JUST GIVE THEM GOOD POKEMON TO USE. Diantha is a good example where she didn't have good pokemon, at least for a champion battle.
Cynthia had Garchomp, Spiritomb, Togekiss
Steven had Metagross
Blue had Gyarados, Alakazam
And there's more, but just looking a these examples they had MONSTROUS Pokemon. Diantha had Goodra, but she had no idea how to use it properly, and players who knew its Physical weakness can beat it.

1:37:49 from 1996 to 2016 (and 2017) we have come so far with the evolution of Pokemon and we have yet to see the Pokemon game on the Switch, one thing i know for sure is that it will look even more amazing than Gen 7. I honestly can wait.

How did you have Porygon2 for Blue in FireRed? Isn't it impossible to get without the National Dex?
Alejandro Real Bastías because Porygon2 needs to be traded to evolve, you can easily circumvent the issue by trading a Porygon with the Upgrade to either Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald or to a FireRed/LeafGreen game that already has the national Pokédex, and then trade back.
@@MayuraVyamsaka You are wrong, as simple as that. Trades against R/S/E cannot be completes unless defeated Elite 4 and obtained National Dex in while allows you to register pokemon from outside the Kanto Region. Porygon 2 is considered a Johto Pokemon that is why it cannot be.
Okay fam no need for the aggressive tone, chill it's just a game. Also, have you considered: trading a Porygon2 from an FRLG game that has already defeated the E4, like I mentioned in my original comment? It isn't that deep 🤔
