- Vortex® Venom® and Strike Eagle® series riflescopes are incredibly capable “tactical” optics. But what’s the difference and where do they shine? We’ll tell you, but you’re going to have to listen to find out!
As always, we want to hear your feedback! Let us know if there are any topics you'd like covered on the Vortex Nation™ podcast by asking us on any one of our social media platforms and using #VortexNationPodcast.

6 months ago I was topping off a 223 AI rifle build and called Vortex with this exact question, I was comparing the higher magnification options of these two lines. I spoke with Josh and he got me dialed in. I chose the venom for my application because I did not need the additional features, but was focused on glass quality, coatings ETC. I could not be happier, I've hit targets at 750 yards, planning to go for the big 1k soon.
750 yard shots with a 223 AR and LPVO?
@@traceyevans2757 No, 750 yards with a Venom 5-25x56 on a custom Savage 110 that has been modified to fit in a longer case chambered in 223 AI (Ackley Improved), it's still kinda nudging the ELR game though, AI was not a typo :).
@@traceyevans2757that’s perfectly reasonable
Each of you equally contribute. However, there's a good dynamic only present when all three are together on the podcast. Glad to see it more often again. Cheers
Thanks for tuning in and the feedback!
I couldn't agree more with this comment, I watch almost every discussion these two/three have on here because there is so much information that comes from them just shooting the shit together
It’s like the gun nerdery Triforce
I just sent back my scope after it fell over onto the floor. Tim from support help. Helped me out on getting everything setup for sending it back. Was a really nice guy to talk with an very helpful. Didn’t realize you guys are in Wisconsin only a hour away. Can’t wait to take a day off work and come down an see the place. Thanks for all your guys help. Keep up the great work
Just got my first LPVO, 1-6 Venom. First range day last week and loved it. Had PA 3x prism before that. Couldn’t get comfortable behind the prism. Thank you!!
With 1st hand experience I must say Vortex's VIP warranty is the best. There are definitely optics I wanted more over like an EXPS3-0 over a UH-1 but ultimately went with the UH-1 because of how I've been treated as a customer by Vortex. Sometimes customer service goes a long way.
If they didn't break, it wouldn't matter. I'm sure leupold has great customer service, but we'll never need to find out.
Ryan, this is your friend James. This was a great podcast! It was good to hear optics people talking about what they know well. I just got in my new 22-250 (glass bedded it last Saturday while listening to your podcasts) and will mount it with the Strike Eagle 5-25-56 once I get it. Got the Varget and H380 powders, 4 different bullets and look forward to failure and success. Keep up the good work!
i would also try cfe 223 in 22-250 just started using it and i find lower sd than h380
@@lisaannaallen6283 thank you for the recommendation. CFE223 seems to be getting a bit more clicks as the market absorbs it. I'm just sad that factory loaded ammo is cheaper than the brass. We are living in a strange new world.
I just want to start by saying you're content and products are phenomenal guys please keep up the good work!! I could write paragraphs on reasons why Vortex is literally the only brand of scope I even consider buying anymore but I'll try to sum it up as quickly as I can and hopefully this will help anyone who may be on the fence about purchasing one. So I have Crossfire's up to Vipers and all of them have been excellent scopes and never let me down. What sold me on Vortex in the first place was back probably 8-9 years ago my buddy bought a Vortex diamondback and dropped it on his sidewalk and cracked it before he even got it into his house, he called Vortex and literally told them he dropped it on the sidewalk and was just curious if they'd still honor that under the warranty and to his surprise they said "absolutely just send that one back and give us you're address we'll have a new one on the way". They honored their word even though it was no fault of the optic whatsoever. I know plenty of people to this day who have still had the same experiences when dealing with customer service. It's always customer first with Vortex not just some corporate conglomerate saying what they think you'll like just to make a sale!!...Vortex legitimately stands behind and connects with they're customers and products!!
The viper 1-6 pst is a sleeper!
I want a good compact 2-12
All of my scopes are vortex except my main hunting rifle, which is running a Leopold because of weight. If they came out with a 2x12x42 at 16oz I would buy it immediately.
I find most scopes these days are tacticool and not created for reasonable hunting applications. Leupold still has the exceptions thankfully. Their 2.5-8 or 3.5-10 1” tubes are nearly unparalleled in hunting applications if you’re concerned with weight. Anything more is fluff for 99.99% of people who hunt at reasonable ranges.
2.5 - 14
The best way I’ve found to explain the difference in optical quality is to go to a big box store and look through all the different levels of optics. I did this with the different Vortex options and it is obvious when you pick something to look at and go Crossfire, diamondback, etc on up to razor. Then grab some other brands at comparable price points and look. It’s really illuminating. Do it at an ordinarily slow time so the dude at the optics counter doesn’t need to rush and it really is interesting
The Spinal Tap reference....awesome!😂😂
The strike eagle 1-8 SFP was my first LPVO and in my opinion it is a great entry point for anyone looking to push out past 100 yards and beyond while still maintaining sub 100 yard capabilities. I’m sure the venom 1-6 SFP would have been a great option but I went with the strike eagle because I didn’t want to buy twice. Which I guess I ended up doing anyway because I bought a strike eagle 1-8 FFP because I like the SFP so much, now I use both of them and have zero buyers remorse. I have trained on iron sights for over a decade and have only used fixed magnification optics for hunting so LPVOs have brought the two worlds together for me. I would love to try out a gen 3 razor but honestly I have absolutely no complaints with the strike eagle 1-8 FFP or the SFP.
I have two Venom. One is on an AR10 in 308, and the other is on a Ruger Ranch bolt gun in 7.62x39. Love these scopes. I also love my two Diamondback Tactical scopes. Every bit as good as my Viper PST.
I’m sold. I have been hunting with a BLR in .308 with a 1.5 to 5 variable Leopold since the mid 90s. I hunt in the wooded northeast so if I can’t hit it with five power, I can’t hit it. Actually, I can’t remember ever shooting a whitetail with the scope dialed up to five power. One of these vortex low power variables will be going on my old Mini 14.
Thanks for making this video. I just bought my first lpvo and its a strike eagle gen 2 1-6x24 and most videos say you have to spend over $600 to get a decent lpvo.
Question for Vortex team, I struggle to choose between 1-8 strike eagle and new 1-6 venom for my new AR. On website they look very similar in terms of specifications. Is the glass really better on the strike eagle to justify the price gap or it's "just" the superior magnification ? Thanks !
Not really, the biggest difference is weight.
Another great line from that movie.
"We have a Stonehenge that is in danger of being trampled by a dwarf!"
I got my start with Vortex when I bought a .308 that came with the Crossfire II 3-9X40 Dead Hold already on it.
When I wanted to be able to dial solutions and bought a new rifle with no scope on it, I got the Diamondback Tactical 6-24X50 which I liked. And I believe that Jimmy has competed in the Vortex Challenge with that.
I thought, wouldn't be great if I had something like the Diamondback that had a zero stop. And out comes the Venom, which I know is descended from the Strike Eagle. But it did everything I wanted. Nice glass. Luxurious eye relief and eye box. Of course, the turrets do not lock and there is no illumination but I have not needed that. I go to a hunting spot and sit down. Then range my possible zone and dial if needed. When done, I twist back to zero. Even if I didn't, I don't have to remember. Like it was said, twist back to the hard stop and count 5 clicks back up.
I have tried a few other brands of scopes and they are okay. However, I think it is wise to remember that what looks good to your eye is more important than having an optic that others think you should. IOW, the Venom fits my eye just fine. I really like the reticle and have used it to range in heavily wooded areas. Knowing the width of a tree trunk just like one I am next to, I can do the math (MOA) and find the range and then dial, if necessary.
Now, I have Venoms on all of rifles except one, which is my 5.56. On that one, I was more comfortable with the iron sights. But if I did get an LPVO, I think it would have to be the Venom 1-6. Probably stick close to the iron sights zero, which was a combat zero from the factory. Seriously, pulled it fresh out of the box and hit the cross hairs at 25 yards.
I like the Rev Stop. I have tried another scope that uses set screws on the turret cover and those have backed out. You have to use some thread goop to get them to hold. That is a problem of design and also, quality of the threads. I have never had a Venom slip.
Granted, the Rev Stop is only giving you two full rotations. On my 7 PRC, I have a zero MOA rail. I can dial 23 MOA for 1,000 yards. Farther and I could still dial 23 MOA and hold over the additional sub tensions.
Or change to my 20 MOA rail. Then, I get some clicks back. But, for me, the 20 MOA would disadvantageous right now because I am hunting and my distances range from 70 yards to 250 yards and 300 to 400 is my comfort zone.
When are we going to see a 1-10 in either the Venom or Strike Eagle series?
Venom? Never
Strike Eagle? Maybe... Maybe not...
Question for the Vortex team. The Diamondback Tactical FFP vs. the Venom FFP. Do you get better glass quality and light transmission on higher magnification or is the difference nominal. To be specific I'm not asking about the lower powered AR platforms but the medium range application cross comparisons. Venom 3×15, Diamondback 4×16?
Yes, the glass quality is better in the Venom line when compared to the Diamondback line. Plus newer glass with new cutting and polishing and coatings helps immensely. Some even say the glass is better than the Strike Eagle when Side by side. The best way to find out is to head to your local dealer and check them out in person!
@VortexNation thankyou for your reply 😊. I own 5 Vortex riflescopes and I am happy with the quality. However all of them are 2nd focal plane and do well for the intended purposes. I recently purchased a Tikka t3x Varmint Ss in 6.5 Creedmoor and would like the capability of dialing for coyotes or deer in open country to a max 4 to 500 yard's. I was waiting for the Venom to be made in the median range for Magnification as I don't believe I need the extras provided by the Strike Eagle.
Sounds like the new Venom would be a winner for that setup! Thanks for your continued support and tuning in!
@@VortexNation This calculates. I liked my Diamondback Tactical 6-24X50 but my Venom 5-25X56 feels better to my eye, which is most important of all, regardless of rifle. All of my rifles now have the Venom 5-25X56 except for my Windham Weaponry Dissipator M4 A3 (5.56,) which still has the iron sights. I have preferred the iron sights. Otherwise, I like Venom best of all. Now, I might have to get the Venom LPVO for that.
I purchase a new rifle for my birthday, as a gift. I decide with a Tikka T3x TAC A1 .308 Win and place a Vortex 5x25-56 Venom FFP MRAD. I listen to multiple individuals given (pros vs cons) onto the rifle and scope. At the end, I gone with those items for the need / activities. I am very happy with my decision, I just need to review now on the tripod, and some research on ammo that would be given the perfect shot. Thank you for all the feedback on your podcast, awesome comment.
“I’ve never played hand grenades with my friends!” That just made this one of the most memorable talks for me.
I now have a strike Eagle 1-8, on my 6.5 Grendel AR. I really like it . I’m pondering getting more magnification though.
Should do a similar "10 minute talk," but 20 minutes shorter.

it would be nice to have a simpler reticle option, like the BDC, on the Venom and/or Strike Eagle for hunters that want a FFP scope.
a 1" tube with 40mm objective and capped turrets in FFP with a 7c reticle would be most welcome.
Just getting into long range with my RPR 6.5 and went with the strike eagle 5x25. Loving it so far and hopefully get it out to my first prs match this summer. Second Vortex optic, been running a venom red dot on a carry optics uspsa gun since 2017. That thing has been bullet proof!
🙌🙌🙌🙌 Best of luck this year as you start competing! Be sure to Check out Vortex EDGE training as we have an outdoor Long Range training course over three days that will get you spun up for competition!
Okay Gentlemen, you have given me a reason to upgrade my future choice of optics. I am a super Vortex fan, primarily because of the warranty. The only Vortex product that I have been disappointed in is my Razor 1-6x24 Gen ll-E LPVO. It has been back to Vortex twice for warranty repair and neither of the repairs had anything to do with me or my use of it. I have five other Vortex scopes, two carbon fiber tripods, several red dots and a range finder. None of which have ever gone back for repair and all are awesome. My last three scopes where all Diamondback Tactical. I couldn’t see enough difference in optical quality between the Diamondback Tactical and the Razor to justify paying six times more for a Razor. Now with all that said, you have convinced me that I need to upgrade my future choices to at least the Strike Eagle. The RevStop Zero System and the illumination are worth the extra cost. I have a Strike Eagle 1-6x24 LPVO, something that you apparently don’t offer any more. For the record, I prefer it over the Razor. I really like the illumination, reticle, and weight over the Razor. Thank you for making this video and highlighting some the differences. I learned a lot, not just about the scopes, but about some things I need to consider in future purchases. The RevStop Zero System is something I will be looking for in future purchases. Again, thank you.
So you cant see differens between Razor and Diamond ,
Well many people I know and me included have done compare test in a hunting store , there is a differens in the glass, my advice is wipe the Razor glass with a special optic cloth and use optic watertissue to clear it then I am sure you will see differens,
@@hristoapostolovski5407 I could see a difference, but... I could not see "enough" difference to justify paying six (6) times more for the Razor.
Great info!! Such a great channel
Don't disregard lpvos for hunting. Got my first deer this year. East TN woods are thick, deer was about 25-30 yards shot it on 2x mag with a 1-8 lpvo
Congrats on a successful hunt! LPVO's are no slouches!
Spinal Tap reference was on point. I was thinking the same😅
Ryan had me scouring all my resources for a mythological AR-BDC8 for 30 minutes
Where does the diamondback tactical II fit against the scopes mentioned in this video for NRL22? Thats what i purchased for about msrp, is it worth upgrading?
Well done team!
Excellent descriptions for all key characteristics of scopes generally, and great product knowledge of your own optics.
I got a Strike Eagle 3-18 and 5-25 on my two bolt guns and love them both to bits.

10 minute talks or one podcast about the following;
284 Winchester
280 remington
6.5x284
280AI
I started with the Diamondback on my 6.5.
Then got a Strike Eagle to add more options (zero stop being a huge one) on my 7mmMag.
Then I got married and got my wife a similar 6.5. I wanted to give her a leg up (no pun) with her hunting to give her more out of her 6.5 than mine.
I have been hunting for years while she is new to it. She needed an advantage with a 6.5 and the Venom was it. A little more scope than what I had.
Also when I decided to scope my 7mm Mag I chose the Strike Eagle as my 6.5 Diamondback was on point out to 600. And many zero checks at 400. My buddy suggested I leave my 6.5 as is and upgrade to the Strike Eagle when I rebuilt my 7mm.
Also don’t forget the Crossfires for my 300B0 rifles.
Many great scopes for many great price points as well as hunting scenarios and ranges.
I’ve got the Strike Eagle 1-8 in my Ruger Ranch 300 BO and a Strike Eagle 5-25 on my Tikka 300 WSM and both are fantastic. I wish the 1-8 was available in FFP when I bought mine because I use that rifle exclusively suppressed and subsonic zeroed at 50 so it would be a huge help to have FFP when shooting at farther distances
Would the 2-7x32 scout scope be good for up close bear defense as well as hunting 100+yards?
Categorize by caliber/range.
So is the Vemon replacing the Diamondback? Or is the hierarchy Diamondback, Vemon, strike Eagle, …? Thanks
All optic lines are staying at this time. It goes from top down, Strike Eagle, Venom, and Diamondback. The pricing will also be indicative of where it lies on the quality spectrum.
I don’t own any venom optics but I have a 1-6 strike eagle with the old reticle for years now that has held up great and I just got the 3-18 a month ago and have great first impressions shooting with it twice. Great optics.
So if i understand correctly, the crossfire line is the vortex entry level, and the next group up was the strike eagle for the lpvo optics. Now with the introduction of the Venom line, it goes crossfire, venom, strike eagle where strike eagle is getting into MPVO ranges and even HPVO ranges?
I think you just convinced me to buy the SE 1-8. Gotta go look at it but yeah. You’re right.
I have two of the 5-25 Venoms. One in MOA and one in MILs. Both are awsome. I think the 3-15 Venom would make a perfect hunting optic.
Nice vid and loved the Spinal Tap reference! Regarding LPVO's, how does the relatively new Venom 1-6X24 compare to the relatively older Strike Eagle 1-6X24? I'm mostly concerned with the glass and image clarity because my eyesight sort of sucks. Which is closer to the clarity of the Viper PST Gen 2's clarity, which is amazing, but beyond my budget?
The venom scopes have less vertical adjustment than the Strike Eagles as well (I didn't hear you mention it)
Its almost like you guys know what you are talking about! ;-).... great video as always - I learned a lot! Thanks!
when i first started competing in 3 gun, i bought a 1x8 strike eagle and ran with it for a while. second build 1x6 strike eagle, 3,4 build have a viper 2 and the vipers do have a nice glass. you cant go wrong with vortex line of scopes for the price.
I have the strike eagle 5-25 and have been very happy with it. I was struggling between the venom and the strike eagle but went with the strike eagle because of the illuminated reticle as I will be using it for hunting occasionally
You say the venom is wntry level? I have the crossfire, diamondback that are definitely lower quality it seems. My strike eagle 1x8 aint bad but eye box is narrow.
One of my Vortex LPVO's is the 1x8 Strike Eagle OPMOD edition from optics planet. What is the exact color of it? Looking to cerakote one of my rifles to match.
Flat Dark Earth is the OPMOD color.
How would it fly on a 45-70?
Wish the venom and up had just a plain duplex style option. Would like the SE 1-8 with that for my muzzleloader. Southern MN hunting varies when you hunt public.
Last Month I bought the Strike Eagle 5-25x56 FFP for my PRS Rifle.
Looks great for a entry level.
Let see how it's goes.
Question: Application is hunting western big game and long range shooting. Other than tube diameter, is there any advantage of the Venom 3-15x44 over the Diamondback Tactical in 4-16x44?
Having looked through both, the Venom reticle is more visible in low light conditions. I chose the Venom because of this. I have the 5-25X56 but it’s a pain the ass to use standard height rings with the 56 bell. Put the 3-15x44 on my 300 win mag. I can use it to 1k yards target shooting, and hunting I usually don’t go past 4-500 so it gives you rock solid confidence for shots on game. I would take the Venom every time for the reticle clarity.
Finally, something you guys know something about.
If you like the SE 3-18x ffp but want better glass quality, is there a next-step-up option?
Viper PST Gen II 3-15x44 would be the next up in the line. Up from that would be the Razor HD Gen II 4.5-27x56
Thinking about the 3-18 strike eagle for my new 300 win mag. Mostly using this for Midwest whitetail hunting but don’t want to buy another scope if I ever go on a western hunt.
random thought, do the make those headsets with 'left hand' mic?
So what would you recommend for a scout concept .308 rifle that you want to be your do all if necessary rifle. I have a more dedicated LRP tool for 1k type shooting, but I'd like to be able to reach out in a pinch. Would your recommend the FFP 1-8 or something else?
In these optics, Strike Eagle 1-8 in either SFP or FFP. That would come down to what your preference is. Our dream do-it-all optic for your setup would be the Razor Gen III 1-10 FFP in MRAD as this opens up a lot of doors for longer distance engagements and the ultimate clarity and durability for those end-of-the-world scenarios.
@VortexNation no question that is the absolute right answer.....if only the bank account agreed. Thanks for all the content and info yall put out. Love Vortex and all you do. Every tool I have has a Vortex mounted on it.
Nice! We would have you check with AAoptics.com as this is our only refurbished dealer and he has killer deals on refurbs (which are like new and sometimes better than new, warranty applies as well). You may get one for a screaming deal there.
How to the optics campare to the Diamondback line? Im debating on whether to buy another DB Tactical 4-16 or grab the Venom 3-15. Prices at my retailer so close so if its worth the few extra dollars on Venom if its optically superior id rather grab one of those.
Stick to Primary Arms or Vortex.
I have a couple Strike Eagle 2 , 1-6 SFP. Now the venom comes out, nice scopes but I’m not ready to swap yet.
👊 y’all are awesome! Love my Vortex goodies!
I just put together two ARs that the 3-15 and 1-6 Venom would be perfect for. I was debating what I wanted to get because I didn't want to drop a buttload of money and them venoms are the perfect price.
Can’t wait to upgrade my diamondback tactical to the razor line
dont overlook the gen one PST 1-4x. they're still available from some retailers for discounted prices. only 4x but crystal clear and a better reticle than the razor or gen 2 pst 1-6x imho.
is the venom replacing the crossfire ii?
Im not asking you guys to rename everything, but id like to say how nice the Silver, Gold, and Platinum catagories in another brand are very easy to navigate.
Kind of the same ways our name structure works. But here's a list of ours to help you out.
Razor (Gold)
Viper (Silver)
Strike Eagle (Bronze)
Venom
Diamondback
Crossfire
@@VortexNation thank you.
where do the Venom, Diamondback, and Crossfire fall into the mix?
Razor (Gold)
Viper (Silver)
Strike Eagle (Bronze)
Venom (4th)
Diamondback (5th)
Crossfire (6th)
The pricing on these model lines are also indicative of where they fall in the lineup.
That is a solid Spinal Tap imitation at 15:02
I have 2 lower end scopes that I'm not extremely thrilled about. But the strike eagle 3-18x44 is smooth as butter and badass
🙌🇺🇸
When will Vortex be updating the Viper PST line? Right now, the Strike Eagles (specifically the 5-25) are so good or better than the ViperPST 5-25 there's little to no reason to get the PST. There's a huge performance gap between the PST and Strike Eagle 5-25 and the Razor line, an updated Viper line would fall quite nicely in there :)
Hi guys love listening to your videos and podcasts on Spotify..
I’m a leupold fan however I bought a beautiful new Remington 700 in the MDT CHASSIS.. 308 and my only first focal plane and I had to send my scope back because of my windage turret wouldn’t move at all , not right or left .. I’m starting to really like the scope … BUT MY Illumination that I haven’t used yet except for just putting it on and is pretty cool but it’s like 3 batteries I’ve changed on it .. Why does that keep happening.. dead battery every time I try putting it on .. again battery dies..I’d like you guys looking into it because I’m not alone with this problem.. So please elaborate. Thanks guys keep up the good work .. Oh and
I’m a 308 fan lol .. not 6.5 creedmoor
Been rockin' the Strike Eagle for a year now. Still getting used using an LPVO but its so much nicer to see where you are actually hitting when you shoot. PSA frequently has deal on the SE 1×8 with a mount for around $350. It does make your rifle a lot heavier so go hit the gym.
We approve this message. Go 2 Jim 💪! 😂
Love my old school HSLR 😎
If you guy need someone to talk about pre charge pneumatic air rifles and using a high magnification rifle scope- I got have the combo 6-24 diamondback ffp on a bull pup avenger. Love shooting through great glass on a nice rifle.
Whats the difference between the strike eagle 1×6 sfp and the venom 1×6 sfp
Venom has a slightly larger FOV, and adjustments on turrets are 1/4 MOA vs the Strike Eagles' 1/2 MOA. Some slight differences on the illumination settings as well. Venom has 6 settings, with intermittent on/off, Strike Eagle has 11 settings without intermittent on/off.
@VortexNation is the the glass quality similar and what about the eye box?
@@kyledescourouez1181 I seen a question answered on the Vortex home site that the new 1-6 Venom is better scope or just as good then the strike eagle 1-8, is this true
What's up with the Spam cans int he background? We're going to need a little back story there.
I'm going to try the strike eagle 1-8 on a rimfire PRS build!
I’ve been wanting the strike eagle 3-18 and 5-25 for months now. Gonna happen soon though
Keep up the good work 👍👍
I have the strike eagle, but i think i would prefer the 6 brightness setting over the 11.
Illuminated reticle is a major plus
Not a fan of the orange flash hider. There are so many uneducated children out there, it shouldn’t be a reason for kids to pick up a firearm versus a airsoft but it happens. This isn’t a woke rant, just a father who did raise his kids to respect and enjoy all that firearms can bring to their life.
I have some vortex optics but I found leupold will put the reticle I want in it
I thoroughly enjoy your podcasts and listen to most of them. However, there seems to be a disconnect between you gentlemen and Vortex products. All 3 of you are hunters, yet the scopes have a strong “tactical” flavor.
Right now I am looking for a scope for a bolt action hunting rifle with 10x or 12x top magnification and 2-3x lower magnification. The Viper PST 2-10x32 seems to fit the bill. It’s first focal plane which is nice but not essential. It has adjustable parallax which I think is pretty important over 8x magnification. All good. However, it has exposed “tactical” turrets - both windage and elevation - and it weighs 26 ounces. Ugh!
A leading competitor has a 4-12x40mm second focal plane scope available in the same price range (slightly lower $). No parallax adjustment, but it weighs 16 ounces and has capped turrets.
I have to compromise somewhere. Do I want adjustable parallax with 12x? Well yeah. Do I need a first focal plane reticle? Eh - it would be better but it’s not absolutely necessary for 90-95% of my hunting scenarios. Do I need capped turrets that won’t get tweaked by branches and brush going through the woods? Very YES. Do I want to save 10 ounces of weight? Hell yes.
Not to downplay your other complaints, but as someone who has a 3-18 old model strike eagle with the non locking turrets, and hunts marshes, swamps, honeysuckle infested golden rod, and just about every other nasty bit of terrain the North East has, I've never had it move even once.
Also, you're complaining that the VIper Precision Shooting TACTICAL is a tactical scope.
You may have better luck finding your HUNTING scope in the Viper HUNTING Shooting line. The 2.5-10x44 weighs 16.5 ounces and has capped turrets. If you want parallax adjustment and a first focal plane scope, you're likely looking at a tactical line, it will weigh more than the barebones hunting scopes, because you have to add weight to get those features.
@@papajohnsy6659 thank you. I feel like an idiot - I did not understand what PST stood for and had not seen the HS scopes. There aren’t many of them. Vortex seems to emphasize the “tactical” features, but I’m sure that is based on solid market analysis.
Sounds like you may want to Check out our Viper HS 2.5-10x44. Parallax is not that big of a deal unless you are out past 500yds and can't get a solid and consistent cheek weld. Happy hunting!
@@VortexNation I am checking it out! Didn’t come up in previous searches for some reason.
You heard it here folks, Venom family scopes will be on QVC for future holiday sales.
I shot matches with Strike Eagle. Piet over at Impact shooting got me into you guys.
Im kinda sitting on my hands waiting to see if the pst line is going to get a refresh with more modern feature set and look
You guys should have thrown the diamondback and the crossfire in the mix
Can we please get some markable stickers with the reticle on them. Then I can have a sticker for the load with my data on it.
If that’s not a thing already… it should be. It would allow someone to do the math ahead of time, and switch between ammo much more efficiently.
I would love to see a 10-35 x44 scope for 22lr bench
Need to get down to HQ and check out all the new stuff
We'd love to have you!
Is there a difference in glass quality in the two?
When I was hunting a good mid price scope for a custom 6x47 Lapua build , I ended up going with a Venom 5-25 when I found it on sale and have been extremely happy with it. I was hoping to see the 3-15 come out so I can pick one up for a Kimber 308 and will be shortly.
If venoms r the entry level I most be cheaper then I thought lol. I own 6 vortex crossfire 2 bdc. And love them all. Sold them in the gun store I work in all the time.
They’re not even in the same category…. The crossfires are essentially a combo optic they sell to rifle company’s to sell with a cheap rifle in the store around 100-200 bucks Venom is 5-600 bucks strike eagle is 7-800 bucks
But a venom is still very entry level… crossfires are even in the question of practical use optics
But the strike eagle 1-6 is less expensive than the venom 1-6, how is the strike eagle a step up?
Now, if only you would make your pistol optics use the RMR footprint, I'd probably have your stuff on a lot more guns.
Unfortunately, that footprint is very limiting to the optics and the features we want to put into our new optic(s) for pistols.
@@VortexNationhow can swampfox and holosun do it? You are losing out on a bunch of business. I only buy and own rmr footprint pistols
Horse shoes, hand grenades, annnnd slow dancing
for the love of god, stop making BDC reticles.
Amg vs razor?
Can you confirm the 3-18 has a locking elevation turret?
I can typically find strike eagles cheaper than the venom.
