Great video. I am just now getting into raising quail but I do haver chickens. I hooked up the 5 gallon bucket to a garden water line which is on an inline timer that turns on twice daily. I have a water trough float in the bucket so that it fills up just to that level so that I never have to mess with water at all. It is a HUGE time saver. Thanks for sharing this video!

Your water cups are nice. The ones I use have 3/8 barbed in one side out the other. The cups have a nut and bracket that locks them onto cage wire. The hose is flexible so if it does freeze it never splits. Also I have a spout at base of the water bucket that has the same barbed. So I can shut the water off at the bucket for repairs like yours. Everything is fed with the 3/8” id x 1/2” of hose. It’s so simple. I have my cages hanging from ceiling of chicken coops semi close to ceiling. The chickens never fly up there. They eat the spillage from the quail which isn’t much. I don’t worry about drip trays. All my coops have roofs so that are nice n dry. I don’t have roll out cages. I have sand boxes inside. I put in fresh material a few times a week. The eggs are clean. Most lay in the sand boxes. For roll out cages that really work use wire closet shelving. Plastic coated. The gaps are about 5/8” in the floor. The birds don’t have any problems with it. I still like the sand boxes. The birds use them constantly.

His Way Homestead So far I’ve been good (praying it stays that way🙏) but researching before I built my cage the quail groups I’m in said even mice can do a job on quail by chewing off their feet. So anything bigger than 1/4” hardware cloth mice, snakes, rats can get in. Apparently if a mouse can get his head in, the rest will fit too.

Place the top wire of the mesh running in the direction you want the egg to roll. The way you have it in the video the top wire of the mesh is running perpendicular to the direction of how you have the eggs rolling, the wire is acting like little speed bumps and catching the egg at smaller angles.

Das ist für die Wachteln doch überhaupt nicht schön, es gibt kein Heu, keine Verstecke, kein Sand Bad.
