  • Winterizing a 2020 Thor Tellaro/Sequence 20A/T B-van using RV antifreeze.
    It will work for other models and model years, the valves and ports will be in different locations.
    Materials required:
    2’ length of 1/2” ID plastic tubing with a 1/2” male NPT barb fitting to fit the tubing. This is used to pump antifreeze into the pipes.
    6” to 12” length of 1/2” ID plastic tubing with a female NPT fitting on each end. You can buy these premade at your local hardware store. This is used to bypass the water filter and housing.
    Schrader to 3/4” male (garden hose) NPT adapter. This is used to blow out the City Fill line. You could also use an antifreeze pump.
    Bicycle tire pump or tire inflator.
    2 gallons of RV Antifreeze.
    All this is available at a local hardware store.
    Thor water system schematic and winterization guide - available in Thor owner’s resource website.
    1. Drain the fresh, black and grey water tanks.
    2. Open all the faucets and the low point drains and run the water pump to get as much water out of the lines as possible.
    3. Drain the Truma (brass valve with a yellow handle).
    4. Close the fresh water tank valve.
    5. Close the valves near the Truma both blue and red.
    6. Open the Truma bypass valve between the red and blue lines.
    7. Remove and drain the water filter housing and replace it with the male-male 1/2” NPT hose.
    8. Dry the filter, and store in a place that won’t freeze.
    9. Use the 3/4” male to schrader valve and a bike pump or tire pump and pump air into the city fill and tank fill fittings. This will clear out any water in those lines. Alternately you can buy an antifreeze pump and use that.
    9. Close all the faucets and low point drains.
    10. Place one end of the 2’ hose in a container of antifreeze and connect the 1/2” NPT male to the female winterization port.
    11. Turn on the water pump and open one of the faucets on hot. Run until you see antifreeze come out solid. Close faucet. Repeat for cold. Then repeat for all faucets and the toilet flusher. Finish with the low point drains.
    12. Remove the hose from the winterization port and replace the male cap.
    13. Empty the grey tank.
    14. Add antifreeze to the black and grey tanks.
    All the valves and winterization port are located under the rear seat in the A/AT.
    In the L, the winterization port and fresh water tank valve are located under the passenger side bed behind an access panel. The other valves are located under the drivers side bed adjacent to the Truma.

    • @tomrosback3142
      @tomrosback3142  8 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      With our van the back is a little higher than the front so there is still some water in the fresh tank after I drain it. I run the water pump and open the low point drains until very little water is coming out. Then I know I’ve cleared the lines and emptied the tank.

    Hi Tom. Great videos and thank you for your time. How do you deal with winterizing the lines for the freshwater tank?

    • @tomrosback3142
      @tomrosback3142  ปีที่แล้ว

      Our van has a simple gravity feed for fresh tank fill. Nothing to Winterize there. Some newer vans have a port like the city fill one. After you’ve drained the fresh tank use the bicycle pump to clear that line, just like the city fill line.
      Other than that, you’re good to go. A little water I the fresh tank is not a problem because it has plenty of room to expand when it freezes.

    Hi Tom, I have a question that is not related to winterizing. Have you used the exterior propane port? I wonder if a pressure regulator is needed to connect a propane stove/grill. Probably not, but just make sure. Thank you!

    • @tomrosback3142
      @tomrosback3142  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. The external propane port is after the regulator so is low pressure. No additional regulator required.

  • @lindawaldron8560
    @lindawaldron8560 ปีที่แล้ว

    I do have a question though...it seams by using this bypass valve to put antifreeze in that the antifreeze does not get into the section of blue hose that runs from the water tank to the shut off valve next to the place you put the antifreeze in. Am I correct on this or does it somehow go all the way around through that tube?

    • @tomrosback3142
      @tomrosback3142  ปีที่แล้ว

      Linda - that’s a very astute observation. It is correct. We rely on the water pump to vacate the water in that line. By draining the tank and keeping the pump running, we can get most of the water out of that line. So far it has worked for three winters.
      The alternative would be to pour some antifreeze in the fresh tank and have the pump run it through that line. I prefer not to do that, since the tank may pick up the antifreeze taste.

    I’m trying to winterize my 2022 Thor Tellaro for the first time by myself. I’m to the antifreeze step and the antifreeze won’t go in when I turn on the water pump. What could I be doing wrong?

    • @tomrosback3142
      @tomrosback3142  26 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Get a funnel that fits in the end of the hose. Lift the hose as high as you can and pour the antifreeze into the funnel. Turn on the water pump.
      If that doesn’t do it loosen the plumbing fitting on the output end of the water pump. Put a towel down to catch any drips.

    Tom, can you provide a link or info for the water filter bypass fitting you used.

    • @tomrosback3142
      @tomrosback3142  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi David - best to remove the filter assembly and take it to a hardware store and tell them you want a hose with the same fittings as the water filter. I’ve found out that depending model and year the fittings may be different.

    Class B newbie here. I was wondering instead of using the anti freeze, can I just pump all the water out (using both low point release/water pump and bicycle air pump as you suggested, great idea btw) and call the winterizing done? Thanks.

    • @tomrosback3142
      @tomrosback3142  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lots of people use an air compressor to clear out the lines and winterize their rigs. The higher volume of air you get from a compressor pushes the remaining water out of the low spots in the plumbing. I’m not sure a bike pump will do it, and repairs can be difficult and expensive.

    • @tomrosback3142

      I understand other models/years have different connections. Best to look at what you have before heading to the hardware store. Or even take in the filter assembly.
      Your van probably has low point drains, you’ll find them in the schematic package for your van on the Thor Owner’s resource website. I’m some models they are small pull up valves located on the floor under cabinets, etc.
      Updated info on winterization can be found in the Tellaro and Sequence Owners and Wannabes Facebook group.

    • @Crusherxt

      Your low point drains (1 hot, 1 cold) are in the same cabinet as the circuit board under the passenger side bed. They're super small and tough to get through as they're likely buried under the floorboard and the waxy paper used on the floor. It took a small knife and a flathead screw driver to get mine up and open
