Textile art is like painting a picture with fabric and yarn and stitch.

Tracey ‪@artfiberstitch‬ shows you how to create a painting or picture from fabric threads and yarn. Layers were created of a background fabric with scraps laid on top of wool roving or fabric scraps including some nice shiny silvery ones, then a sheer overlay fabric on top as we try to create a night sky. In this Part one we look at fabrics and imagine what they can be used for as we compose our picture. We use fusible web to hold the background together and then get stuck into adding on top of this as we build more of our picture. The initial bit of stitch is where this project finished and part two will be making it all come together with easy embroidery stitches.

Hi! I recently found your channel..so glad I did. I notice you use a lot of linens and open weave, gauzy fabrics. Love it. Do you dye these fabrics yourself? Love the colors

Thank you. Yes I do love to dye my own linen and natural materials. But I have also used Inktense on other fabrics.
