There is such a thing as being too careful and too slow, and it leads to OTB where you can least recover from it.

Did a similar thing recently, taking it slow down a black run for first run look , came across a drop off and was going to slow to jump off it but to fast to stop, went over the drop without the bike , broken ankle, been back since and cleared it easy at speed, it's how we learn , speedy recovery buddy :)

Just happened to me at Tamarancho. Was going too slow and didn't keep my line, hit a root, and otb I went.

A learning experience. First off, thanks for clearing the trail and yes it's best to not not load up the creek drainage with debris when possible. The sheep provide an invaluable service, unlike Locust which destroy. The sheep eat the grass fuel to reduce fire dangers. The Sheep poop is annoying, but heavy grass's are worse. I know that area very, and am sorry to see folks gettin hurt out on the trail. Their are steps to reduce the probability of a crash. Momentum. Momentum is key when negotiating techy sections, like rocks & roots. Your low speed is the main contributing factor why you crashed. Momentum, which is not the same as going fast, helps propel you through obstacles. Momentum carries you forward against forces trying to stop or deflect you. With just a little bit more momentum, your bike likely would have pushed through the rock, that caught your front wheel and turned it sideways. The slow-mo video you took really shows what went wrong. You came in to slow, but what really happened was you turned bars slightly before the front wheel caught the rock and whipped the bars. A bit more momentum and you would not have had to wiggle the bars for balance, just before going down. Heal up, go back and really look at the feature before trying again. Everyone crashes, it's how we move forward that defines us.

I ride with him mostly. That feature is easy for him. He has done it several times. Actually this feature is just a normal pass-by warmup trail before heading to the real stuff at the ridge. It’s just those one off days when mind body bike is not connected. Happens to the best of the riders. Healing vibes!! Btw thanks for the 🪤 trail.. it’s the best trail there in my opinion 😊

You are 100% right - I came up on the feature way too slow but foolishly hell bent on riding it.

When you are back on the bike, hit me up! I've been looking for a riding partner out in the tri-valley

heal up then take it slow. Ride 50% of what you are capable of if when you are alone exploring. Focus on the quality of the ride. See you on the trails
