    Another option for removing the background on the garden background photo is to perhaps use the Magic Eraser tool on Nathan himself because it's basically two colours, blue and flesh. When you've covered every part of him, use the Invert Mask button at the bottom and the greenery would be gone and Nathan left, minus his background.

    Edit... CLEAR tutorial, GREAT youtuber!!! I got it wrong the first time as I didn't save the image in PNG. I commented that it didn't work and Nathan replied within minutes with the solution. Goes without saying, he was right. A big thanks to you Nathan. For total photoediting novices like me, you may want to be even more specific on critical steps in your videos. As you can imagine I had no clue that PNG supports transparent background and JPEG doesn't. Anyway, the bottom line is, you are great, I should have more faith in others and follow instructions to the letter. A huge thank you!!!!

    • @BriNathanCollins
      @BriNathanCollins  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Make sure to save the image as a PNG file. If you cut an image out, but save it as a JPEG file or a different file type often times it doesn’t support transparency. Let me know if that helps. If not, I can do some more research.

    Thanks for the well-explained commentary, Nathan. I understand in some programs in my opinion that some images can be selected or the background. When you used the scissors in the outdoor version, giving a light aura of colour around yourself, could you select and brush mask yourself rather than the background then switch the selection to everything not in the mask of you to remove it, please?

    Hey so is it possible to import a layer, select it and use the tool operators, such as erase? Or do I really have to pre erase photos, save them, import them, and repeat every time I need to modify the layer with a tool function? I cannot find a way to use the erase tool on the layer, it always defaults to the background image.

    • @BriNathanCollins
      @BriNathanCollins  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes there are limited functions that you are able to do with an inserted item in PhotoScape X. what kind of projects are you working on? Maybe I can come up with a way to improve your workflow.

      @@BriNathanCollins Thanks for the reply! Ah I see. I mostly like collaging layers of photos I've taken to make surrealistic composites so I kinda do it all on the fly. I would find that specifically I use blur a lot to get a good blend pre 'merge all layers' so that I can still play around with the positioning; I inevitably also find more things to erase here and there. I guess I just got use to that functionality with photoshop and Gimp, but since photoshop is too expensive and gimp is too buggy here I am with Photoscape X. Not sure if there's a workaround, I think I just have to get used to the new app procedures. Anyways, I appreciate the video since it's been hard to find info on layers...all I wanted was to import an image, add an alpha channel, and composite and I was going crazy having it start a new project and not being able to add/save alpha. Turns out there's that special tab for cutouts and the submenu in insert for images. It was counter intuitive to me after learning on photoshop and gimp and they don't really address it well in the manual! Many thanks for the info! Cheers! 🥳 ❤️💛💚🎵🎶🎵☮️💜🕉
