There is nothing more dear than being in the kitchen with several generations of family members! A true blessing.
OMG...have your Aunt Peggy on more often. She seems like the sweetest person. You’ll cherish having her there these 6+ months. I wouldn’t want her to go back home, lol. She reminds me so much of my grandmother and great grandmother. Made me cry at the end with all y’all standing there. It looked like Aunt Peggy was getting a little emotional which made me cry even more. So so sweet!!!
I absolutely loved having her here with us! She is the kindest, most generous woman there is-and funny, too!
This cake looks so good. Can't wait to make it for my dad who just turned 91 in August. I just wish my husband was still here to enjoy it. I lost him this week at just 62 years old from cancer.

I think this is my oldest son Deputy Kaleb’s favorite cake. He likes it with vanilla extract and a cup and a half of mini chocolate chips mixed in the batter. He will actually cut a slice and put it in the microwave and warm it up for about 20 seconds before enjoying it. I miss you son be safe out there.. love you and. Paula going through the extracts and flavors brought me back to my childhood. My parents worked at Adams extract in Buda Texas when I was a kid. The whole house always smelt like vanilla all the time. Daddy was the cook in the house and he had every flavor they made!!

This is literally the recipe I use to make my pound cake. I get so many compliments on it.
Sour cream pound cake was always a favorite in our house. We would change up flavors. Vanilla, almond, coconut, and fresh lemon with zest. My mother loved lemon & vanilla best.
I lost our crecipe in a move, so I'm very happy to have yours now. Thank you Paula.

My grandma used to make Sour cream pound cake... she used to make Lemon flavored and she made Butternut. Butternut was always my favorite.
Denise 1965 how do you make butternut? Sounds good.
tammy martin Just follow the recipe for any pound cake like this one especially and use the vanilla extract in Butternut extract. Just substitute any flavoring that’s in the recipe.

Paula! About 6 months ago I came across your sour cream pound cake and i make it once a week for a little elderly lady who ho is very ill and she just loves it. My sister is her sister in law and care giver and we have all decided that she has been so good to us and if she wants to eat pound cake every nite so be it! Now I don't pre heat the oven, I put the cake in and then turn it on. I have had many of her relatives over to pay me up to $25 to make them one...IT IS JUST THAT GOOD!!! So thank you very much. I don't make this cake for money, lol. I just give them a list of what I need and if they buy a dozen eggs and a 4 pk of butter I get a little extra for my cake and its enough.BTW I have been out of sour cream and substituted Greek yogurt and works wonderful too!!!!

Auntie Paula I have your mixer and I LOVE IT!!!!! When I do my videos and be adding all that butter, I say "Paula Deen is my Auntie, but she just doesn't know it"! LOL!!!!! I shared in one of my videos that I was using your mixer and what I loved about it! It is WONDERFUL!!!!! And I, too, LOVE not having to stop to scrape down my bowl!!!!
A stand mixer makes life a lot easier in the kitchen. Mine tore up, so I'll have to get another one. I love whipping up some mashed taters with it. Makes them very creamy when it's all said and done.
Same here, I bought an immersion blender for mashed potatoes until I can save enough for another stand mixer. Btw, my stand mixer was a well used hand me down that I got another 14 years out of....I havent had the heart to throw it away.

I made this (the recipe was from one of Molly Katzen's cookbooks) for my parents (now departed) and they loved it. Since then I made it sometimes when we had company, it's always a favorite. The one I remember had flour, etc, sour cream, vanilla, and lots of cinnamon and I think cardamom, nuts and chocolate optional. I think it would be lovely with lemon, or orange and cloves with walnuts. ❤️

We got this recipe from a morning show you were on. You made it with homemade cream cheese icing. It's been a family favorite and go to cake for special occasions for years. Thanks so much Paula for many delicious bites!

I just mixed up a batch per the recipe link for a loaf sized cake but now realize the proportion of butter is much higher than in the video ( 1 cup butter to 1 1/2 cups sugar)! I did follow the recipe except I doubled the vanilla. I also had too much batter for a standard loaf pan. Luckily I had a mini loaf to use for the excess. I wish I would have read the comments before I mixed it up - many complaints about cakes falling in the middle. The editor did warn about mixing the batter too much but by that time it was too late. Its in my oven now so I’ll update with results when its done.
Update: My cakes are done. I baked 40 minutes in my Breville Smart Oven Air. Came out perfectly browned, delicious and tender. Posting on the instagram. I think secret is using right sized pans. Will definitely put this recipe in regular rotation.
