    Within the heart of Georgetown lies a village whose name and history are known by most Guyanese - Albouystown. The stretch of land from La Penitence Market to Cemetery Road is one of the oldest communities in the country. With its frozen-in-time feel Albouystown is authentically Guyanese. Once a picture of fields, trenches and dams. One such canal that became somewhat of a local landmark is the famed ‘Punt Trench Dam’. Today it is known as ‘Independence Boulevard’. Long ago in the colonial ages, similar to many other communities, Albouystown was a land of cane fields. And to transport the cane from place to place, they would use the famous ‘Punt Trenches’ to move cane shipments to manufacture the nation’s sugar.

    Thank you for this little tour around Albouystown. What liked about it, is that you named the streets as you go by. To tell you the truth I've never heard of any of those streets, just a few of them.

    whats the reason you showing the slum areas of G/town?

    • @ParieNikkaPhotography
      @ParieNikkaPhotography  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Question is why not?
      Should it not be remembered?
      Because everything matters and everything has its own form of beauty. Nothing ever improves if we throw it aside and forget about it. Every slum or wealthy area has its own character. You see an old building I see a beautiful piece of architecture that once was.

      @@amazonwarrior7126people who want it to acknowledge it and see change, that’s why Ali built that walkway in the middle, it brightens up the area and it adds more value to the community, don’t act dense
