Indeed! Geese are just as (if not moreso) territorial than dogs are! A family member of mine was once a postwoman and knew of a fellow postman who had to ask the owners of a house he delivered the post to, to move the guard geese he had away from the front otherwise he wouldn't deliver the mail to their house anymore for fear of getting attacked by the geese!!
We had a gray goose that we called Guard Goose. He would watch over the chickens and ducks. We had a small pond at the bottom of a hill and when a mama duck would take her babies down to it, she would come and get Guard Goose. She would come up to him, bob her head and quack, then head down to the pond. Guard Goose would follow behind the babies, making sure none of them got lost. He also would come running if he heard chicks or baby turkeys peeping and make sure they were okay.
lots of farmers have a watch goose in with their chickens. Geese spot overhead predators faster than chicens and can warn and protect the chickens fairly well.
We had a goose on the property of a parrot sanctuary i used to volunteer at. She used to run from the other side of the property to greet me every Sat.
The bossy goose is not a new phenomenon as many who have been chased by a goose can attest, but this bossy goose is in the right place so she can be the sweetest goose it’s possible for her to be.
Legend has it that Harriet was once a farm dog who protected her charges. She did such a great job life after life, that she was reincarnated and promoted into the head goose in charge. ❤
😪 wow hopefully not... they could just trim some outer flight feathers instead if they're worried about her flying off, at least that's reversible and painless
We've all seen dogs guarding farms, but Harriet taught us something new today🤔🙌

Geese, turkeys and other large birds have the strength in their wings to break a humans arm. Turkey hunters know that well.
Man, geese are no joke. As pretty and fluffy-white as they are, when they consider something a threat, they turn into fearless fighters.
Very true!
Watch those wings
@@jakebe4915 Haha, yeah. They don't only bite you, they like to smack the crap outta you with their wings ... which are surprisingly strong.
Lady, you need to write a kid book about protection from bullies! I love this!

Harriet: part goose, part guard/herding dog, part rooster... all cute. 💖
This partnership works on lots of farms but especially those with egg layers. Natural companions and protectors.
Harriet’s gorgeous, and what a sweetie-pie.
So beautiful, brave and sassy.
I live near Canada geese. They are lovely creatures. Very social, very kind...give them space..watch their wings when they feel threatened.
Animals are just precious and special. We could learn a lot from them
She's literally the "flock guardian" of the farm!😅😅😅
