Hi Ya'll thank you for putting out this content. I just want to mention, I think that the background music ya'll choose is somewhat grating and you might consider cutting. Thanks again!
What’s the best way to prepare? Especially if im not so sure which of the two is more important to me? Do you think schools that don’t require duet will still look at the scores?
Hi Kaden! Thanks for your questions! The best way to prepare is to know the Duet format. Additionally, you should research medical schools' mission statements and former matriculants' profiles to see what kind of applicants your schools are looking for and choosing corresponding qualities in your Duet. You can check out our blog here for more info bemoacademicconsulting.com/blog/duet or schedule your free initial consultation with us here bemoacademicconsulting.com/altus-suite-prep At this moment, it looks like schools that do not require your Duet will not be looking at your fit scores because they claim not to fill out the required form themselves. Hope this helps you!
You mentioned in another comment that there are overlap with a lot of values that overlap. That means that there are a set of answer combinations or values that are almost universally prioritized over others. Ie. you cant just select any combination of values and be matched or fit to a school, or at least that is what I understood? If this is the case, what values to do you believe to be redundant across most schools?
Hi painkillerasprin. There are some qualities all medical schools look for: commitment, sense of responsibility, attention to detail, etc. However, some schools are more focused on rural populations or underserved populations, some are focused in research, some are more focus on international populations, etc. The point of this exercise is for you to show what your goals are.
If my fit score will only be sent to one of my top choice schools, should I only focus on their preferences and mission? Should I consider other schools that won't see the results if they align better with my own preferences?
Hello Hannah! Thanks so much for your question! You do want to be strategic in this case. If you know that the rest of your schools do not require your Duet fit score, and therefore will not see what you put down in your evaluation, focus on your top-choice school. If the other schools will not see what you put down, there is no reason for you to cater to them.

Hi Shiva! Thanks so much for your question! No, the Duet does not ask any multiple choice questions. You are asked to identify characteristics that are most valuable to you when it comes to the schools you applied to. For example, you may be asked to choose which school characteristic is more valuable to you: autonomy in learning vs early clinical exposure. You will be presented with 21 such pairs. Each time you will be asked to choose only 1 of the 2 characteristics presented. If you would like to learn more about the Duet, please visit our blog bemoacademicconsulting.com/blog/duet Hope this helps!
What if the schools I am applying to have vastly different values and priorities to the point they contradict each other? Won't this test automatically hurt my chances to some schools and maybe help my chances in others?
Hi Ken! Thank you for your question. This is a very interesting point. However, there is no need to panic. While medical schools may have some varying values, they are not drastically contradictory. Yes, some schools value research more than others, and some may promote more engagement with underserved communities, but most schools value all of these elements of medicine, so do not be alarmed to choose what you truly value. When you are choosing between seemingly diverging values in Duet, choose the values that coincide with your top choice schools. For example, it is most likely that if you love research, you applied to several schools that value this opportunity, which makes you a good fit for a handful of your chosen schools. It is true that some values you choose might not be the top value of every school you applied to, but it will fit with a major number of schools you applied to. I hope this helps and let me know if we can help you with Duet, or any other application components.
