Is the Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye a BETTER muscle car than a 2022 GT500?

  • The Challenger Hellcat was a muscle car game changer when Dodge introduced it. This Challenger Hellcat Redeye is meant to battle the 2022 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 & Ford Selby GT500.On the outside you will notice the functional twin inlet scoops on the hood, 20in wheels, and 6-piston Brembos. On inside you will be greeted by leather seating, carbon fiber trim, and Alcantara. Under the hood is a fire breathing 6.2L supercharged Hemi V8 pumping out 797HP & mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Is the Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye a BETTER muscle car than a 2022 GT500?

    Disclamer: This is a really long comment
    Hey Joe and Lori (and everyone else who read this), how is you'r day (I hope it has been well, but if it's not there is still time left to make the best of the day).
    Anyway thier is one thing that I am sure about Joe and that is that he loves the Dodge Challenger with over 28 videos about the Dodge challenger and the Raiti's ride family (I still can't believe that we are 700k, almost 1 million).
    But we can't forget that we all subscribe to Raiti's because:
    1: The options of (like over 28 videos about the Dodge challenger in 2 years)
    2: He post daily (even on holidays)
    3: Zonks and Twinkies
    4: Funny and sometimes a bit inappropriate but don't means it, for example "so you can rub you'r wood" (that I think was the Jeep grand cherokee L review).
    5: Him and Lori are the best couple (on TH-cam and ever)
    6: He is a more funnier then most automotive You Tubers (I'm talk to you DOUG DEMURO)
    And 7 last at all: Joe and Lori loves vehicles
    So if you are not subscribed, I really dont know why?

    Now before haters begin hating, I LOVE the GT500. It’s an amazing machine and the performance specs are great. That being said, there is no chance that the GT500 holds a candle to how iconic the Challenger is in the muscle segment. When Dodge brought it back, it was sick. When Dodge created the Hellcat, that was kind of game over. The best part about this whole deal is that Dodge has not stopped and have brought us this epic Redeye. So pumped.

    I’ve owned them all: Hellcat, ZL1a10, redeye and 20’ gt500. The gt500 has thrilled and satisfied me the most overall. The most underwhelming was the zl1 imo. The gt500/mustang has the best visibility out of the 3 from my experience and Zl1 by far the worst.
    The challenger is roomier, a bit more comfortable, has more low-mid torque, more supercharger whine and is a true muscle car. It gets old roasting tires all the time, and makes you slower. The gt500 puts the power down a lot better on the street, is faster on the highway than the redeye, has superior brakes and handling capability. The DCT is amazing as well. If you to hear the gt500 supercharger, slap on a JLT cai. This is all subjective but I prefer the Shelby.

      Gotta say I was tempted to cancel my allocation for a ‘22 GT500 when I heard about Dodge’s direct connection program…then again these cars are already at the limit for being able to put power down efficiently. That 885hp package will be good for what, 90 rolls? Otherwise it’s just going to blow the tires off the thing? Then again the GT500 is so capable, with a JLT CAI, tune and higher rev limiter, these things are putting near 800whp down which would be very close to the claimed 885hp dodge package, plus the gt500 is ~500lbs lighter to boot….plus that beautiful DCT the GT500 has. Got some Welds on order for the rear and some Mickey ET’s to make sure it sticks real nice for the trips down to Mexico. Beyond stoked for the GT500 to be built!

    Joe and Lori, thanks for cranking out these videos and for injecting a little personality!! Now, about the 797 Hellcat Redeye. I’ve been in Hellcats and they are amazing! A feast for the senses and one that will go down in the books as a 9th inning grand slam for the internal combustion engine. But 95K is a ton of scratch. Moving forward, one thing the electrics won’t be able to do is light weight. Straight line performance they will have in spades. But lightweight and manual transmission will be impossible to replicate in an all electric future. So while I would not fault anyone from buying a whole pack of Anything Hellcat, I’m looking at the BRZ, 86, and MX5 and their ilk as affordable collectors in waiting as we go into our fast and heavy electrified future.

    A major difference between the GT500 and the Hellcat is the Shelby GT500 Mustang has moved toward the Super car category with it's amazing DTC, aero and track suspension that rivals cars like the benchmark Porsche 911 where the Hellcat is an old school muscle car. The Shelby can be used 1/4 mile at a time or turn quick laps on road courses like VIR. I don't recall you mentioning the prices of your test vehicle, but I'm guessing over $81,000 MSRP. The Shelby GT500 is a very special performance car that can be a monster when you want or the perfect daily driver providing comfort and technology. I was thinking watching your video. You could have shown the outside of a 10 year old Challenger and I wouldn't be able to tell the difference and I own a Mopar. Still a manual passenger seat and no cooled front seats at that price point. I'm guessing it has heated seats. Personally these are important because its likely going to be used more as a daily driver than at the dragstrip. Maybe you should trade your GT350 for one of these. Then again you know how special the Baby brother of the GT500 is. Nice review on the last year of the Hemi powered Challenger. It time Stellantis redesigned this car and we'll see how it sells with the upcoming Hurricane in line 6 cylinder turbo engine.

    Love Raiti’s Rides and Joe and Lori. I can see the passion he has for this car. Hope he can buy one if its his dream car. He certainly deserves it. Having said that, $90K for a Dodge??? That’s a lot of dough. The car definitely has a presence but honestly, except for the seats, the interior looks very dated and cheap, IMO. The infotainment and climate control looks at least a decade old, more like late 90s, tbh. A few modern interior updates would go a long way! If a traditional muscle car is your thing, you probably don’t care but again, $90K?? I’d take a Porsche any day!

    • @vincealince_SRT
      @vincealince_SRT 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      $90k, is getting you drag parts on a daily driver. The beefed up rear end, trans brake, killer chiller AC ported cooling the supercharger and engine, adaptive electronic suspension, ZF 8spd transmission(able to handle 1100 horsepower), and last but certainly not least 6.2 supercharged with a bulletproof casing. Interior is debatable, but in all 90k is a bargain for a spec drag car. I think over 100k for a mustang is ridiculous though….

    • @The-fs5wn
      @The-fs5wn 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@vincealince_SRT A GT500 with Carbon Fiber Track Pack has far better equipment, suspension, interior, more downforce, and both have a 10.8 second 1/4 mile time (though a few stock GT500s have passed this by quite a bit), and it costs the same as this Dodge. Take it around the track and all of these aspects will really show their worth.

    • @vincealince_SRT
      @vincealince_SRT 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@The-fs5wn I agree getting that $18.5k option will make it a more capable around track car. With stock(tires) they are both capable of high 10s in the 1/4 mile, but stick wheels on them and the Redeye edges it with its higher torque and weight transfer(even with weight disadvantage). If you option out the Mustang with options that come stock with Dodges package ie, technology $3k for screen and Sirius xm(standard in Dodge)and that Carbon track package, you’re look at around 97-98k and I didn’t add options like painted stripes(10k) and handling group(2k). Those performance parts and advantages at Strip I spoke of for the Redeye come standard on dodge, to the point that it’s mostly cosmetic and leather options, that you must add to bring price up(with exception to 3.09 gearing ratio). You also get 2 options in standard body(74k) and Widebody(81k) to start. Optioned to match the gt500 standard 88-89k and Widebody optioned out 96-97k. Now if you were to go no option stock for stock you’re getting way more out of the Redeye as all performance parts are standard, where as you’ll have to pay 10s of thousands to 500 to bring it up to Redeye Spec…. Just my observation

    • @The-fs5wn
      @The-fs5wn 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@vincealince_SRT even without the package, it still beats the Redeye in virtually every scenario. In fact, it is actually faster down the quarter mile without the package than with it, due to the fact that the Track Pack prioritizes handling, braking, downforce and cornering much more than the standard GT500. Without the package, the GT500 actually runs mid-10s if you know how to properly drive it, while the Redeye runs high 10s and low 11s, making it faster on the straight line and still much better on the turns.
      Racing stripes are unnecessary and useless, and the handling group and technology features come standard with the track pack and tech pack. So not only are you overinflating the price, you are also making it seem like the equipment is the same when it very much isn’t. The suspension and body enhancements of even the standard GT500 go beyond just wide body and tires.
      The shocks of the standard model come straight from a top-quality manufacturer with a high level racing pedigree, the chassis had an extensive remodeling to accommodate the Predator engine, the splitters and diffusers are all custom made, and the wheels and axles are unique to the GT500. And yes, you still get a 1 inch wide body and a wider track stance.
      Another thing: the transmission. Many auto journalists said it was better than even Porsche’s PDK, with Car and Driver going so far as to say it was “the best transmission in any vehicle we have ever tested”.
      Stock for stock, the GT500 always wins in its price range. While few people say the ZL1 Camaro is better, track stats from the 1LE package version as well as reviews of the Camaro’s god awful interior say otherwise. GT500 is still the king of sub-100k performance, at least until the C8 Z06 and S650 generation GT500 arrive.
