On all these out of the ordinary chords, I would argue Allan was hearing these in his head before he actually put them together. Which is genius and beautiful. To hear such patterns that is.
Sweet!!! I think that when one plays those big, rich chords on the synthaxe, with these beautiful sounds, it must feel like directing an orchestra.... so powerful!
Thanks for this video! I never imagined we would get to see somebody doing a tutorial on the SynthAxe. Rowanne did indeed quit singing, at least professionally. She's probably retired by now, but last thing I heard around 2017, she was working in the family restaurant.
AH is one of the most mystical phenomenon, and I really thankful John that you dig deeper into the hole of the rabbit! I'm keyboardist & classical pianist. During my Uni studies I was permeated with Allan's world. High influence I can say. But technically.... it would be interesting to see the real synths & patches : what kinda prgs banks were involved in...
I do not care what anyone says, I happen to like all the various songs featuring vocals on Allan's albums. It's all just music and instruments and the voice is a fine instrument in the right hands.
@shmuliknemanov4009 thanks!! I don't plan on it because it's more of a soundscape. There are multiple layers to it that I can't do at once. But in another video I may use examples from certain parts of it and other tunes I can't teach in this manner
Rowanne Mark wrote this lyrics I think. She at some point stopped to get into painting? Please correct me if I'm wrong. Very nice tune. Very evocative of autumn, so perfect timing ;)
I made a video, on my laptop, playing the intro vocal part and would love to write the lyrics in the description, but couldn’t find it. I will post it anyway. Thank you 😊 I miss Allan…🤍🎸🎶
Now this is why I think a guitar with midi capabilities is a different instrument to a midi controller that has the shape of a guitar. There is an abstraction between pitch and strings. Each string can be tuned differently, be a different instrument go through gradations, or even respond differently depending on certain parameters. While guitar technique carries over (picking, legato, etc) it still should be consider a distinct class of instrument in my mind. Not better or worse, just different, like a piano and an organ
Absolutely and that's what they tried to market it as. But it's hard to turn off the guitar brain and approach the SA as something else. So someone like Allan could flourish with it because it suited his style more than, let's say Eric Clapton
@@TurrigenousOfficial can't agree more. It seems that's the continuing story of these incredible instruments, they make it possible to express something completely unapproachable in any other way... However it requires a drastic change of context and most people seem to prefer a mild extension to their sound palette. While there is nothing wrong with that, there is more literally at the tips of their fingers and holding back makes it impossible for this concept to fully materialize. Really the possibilities are pretty much endless. I wonder if Frank Zappa had spent a little time with it what he would have accomplished.
Thanks haha. Got your email. Very interesting! You should post about it in the URAH group. Maybe someone might have some more info about it! I heard it and with a few chords I could totally see it as him
Oh one of my favourites by Allan. So beautiful and Rowanne Mark's lovely vocals. Like the string patch he used.

You're getting better and better, it's just phenomenal
Thank you 😊
If I could acquire a SynthAxe and a Steinberger GL2T, I would be set for life. I'd never need another instrument. You definitely deserve that thing.
Thanks!!
I love these Synth Axe deep dives. Great work as always ! Thank you ! With Gratitude - John
Thank you 😊

Agreed!! The oberheim strings have such a unique tonal quality that in 5ths it sounds massive

Thank you for always supporting! In my research, I saw she was a member of the group and then disappeared. But that's nice to hear an update
@@TurrigenousOfficial Our friend Greg secured an interview with her at the time, I think. I hope we get to see it some day!
Ahh! Oh now I remember she's in the memorial video? I should have used a still from it of her 🤦♂️
Brilliant John, keep it up
Thanks 🤘
So very cool John. You play it and explain it. Such a treat. Allan must be very proud of you in his after life. I would be.
That's very kind of you. I hope so!
The entire recording is heavy!🔨
Magnificent! 🔥
Thank you so much!
Amazing sounds. You are the only guy on earth that is doing this. Allan told me that he fancied Mariette Hartley, hell who didn't?
Thank you!! Yeah I would agree haha
Love this song. This channel rocks
Thank you 😄

this thing is so rad
one of my favorite songs. in my humble opinion, the solo does not do it justice
thanks so much for these lectures. looking forward to "dont you know" solo from music for a . i never hear anybody talk about that masterpiece

i meant the synthax solo on that tune at 450 and btw your amazing
@shmuliknemanov4009 thank you 😊

She did. She also wrote lyrics for Secrets and Endomorph but only sang on Secrets. She also was going to sing on Home

Golden leaves, a light will gently fall, and color all our yester days. I love this tune.
Hi John. First of all, Great Work! Would you have the lyrics of this song or know where I can find it, please?! Thank You.🎶
Thanks! Honestly I don't know. I don't think any of Allan's songs have ever had their lyrics officially published
I made a video, on my laptop, playing the intro vocal part and would love to write the lyrics in the description, but couldn’t find it. I will post it anyway.

I didn’t know he tried to play it and then called Rowanne Mark to write and sing the lyrics. 👏

Let’s start a band ;), you rock the SynthAxe; I’ll rock the Hotz and we’ll find someone to rock a Zendrum.
First heheheeh
Not if I delete your comment 😁. Jk!
