Just wanna say this is a great channel, keep posting your videos.Very effective and in depth,if you can try to coach some young kids(individual trainings).Keep up Frikki 💪
All of these seem to have the pivot foot lifting before the ball is released That's a travel from my understanding I think a quicker dribble would keep the move effective and legal +++ Love the channel 👍 Very effective communication style you're using with the repetitious clips ❤️ Gets the example into the watcher's brain 💯
Not the biggest fan of "skill workouts". Everything can and should be worked on mainly through games (1v1 up to 5v5). Find people to play with - simply playing endless basketball is the simplest way to get better. Then when working alone you should be replaying the stuff you need to improve on from these games. Visualize teammates and defenders and make reads. Make your own practice plan that fits you. Mix of playing, shooting, lifting and studying film. Take care of your body and don't overwork yourself. You can always get up extra shots, stationary ball handling and film/IQ work because it's easy on your body.
I actually first learned this move from watching Kobe, surprised you didn't include him. Disappointed to learn that I didn't invent the rocker cross. 😅
Scissor step is fun footwork to play around with for sure. But seriously hardly no one ever uses it in a game. I've watched 1000 hours of basketball in the last years and only seen it done like total of 4 times.
Please correct me if I'm wrong but after the jab step fake the pivot foot is raised before the ball is released. It just looks like a Travel/Walk sometimes. Am I wrong?
@@CoachFrikki Thx for the reply and for ur channel! I'm studying the moves. You explain them so clearly with a concise format! Keep em coming Coach!! 🔥👍🏿
What kind of BTL counter are you talking about? I did make this a few weeks ago: th-cam.com/video/9JFWFjcd0aM/w-d-xo.html Or are you talking about countering the rocker step with a BTL.
I'm talking about crossover + btl. also James Harden often ueses this move. When you upload video about ,,How to steal crossovers part 1" there was short part about this nove. If you understand what i'm speaking about upload video about that, so I think that also this will very inyeresting for other people. Thanks❤❤😍🇬🇪
In pro and college league you can lift your pivot for executing rocker step but before that pivot lands the ground, the ball must be release and its not on ur hands anymore, so u wont get called for traveling. just advising base from my experience and observation. hope it helps cos i do that a lot and i dont get called for traveling. all clean baby 🔥
@@axlcraigjavieralbertofortu5925 no you can't, not by the rules. ball has to be released before you lift the pivot foot. you dont get called because refs dont care. by rules it is still a travel
Not the biggest fan of how AI sets his crossover up (arm extended all the way to the side). It worked for him because he is one of the most athletic human beings of all time. I think the way Harden sets his crossover up is both easier and more effective. Much better for us normal people to learn from him. But yeah another crossover video is dropping soon.
the move itself is not illegal, but most of these are travels because wrongly executed, still they wont be called nowadays. i called a travel every time i was able to stop the video with guy's pivot foot lifted and ball still in his hand/hands/palm. in pickup games you can call travel every time a guy does this move and his first dribble is behind the defender. that will be 99% illegal; analysis starting from 0:12 Dior Johnson - travel. did not release the ball before lifting pivot foot next unknown kid - travel. moved both feet before ball is released Jalen Green - legal. left foot is pivot and only moves when ball is released next unknown kid - legal. left foot is pivot, did not move or slide the foot before ball is released same unknown kid, with rocker step - travel. his left foot is still pivot like in previous example, but not he is lifting it before ball is released Isiah Todd - travel. slightly slid his pivot foot forward before releasing the ball Isiah Todd next possession - travel. did not release the ball before lifting pivot (left) foot Alan Anderson - legal. hard angle but looks like ball is released in time before pivot is lifted Jordan Lawley - travel. lifts pivot (right) foot before releasing the ball Jordan Lawley next clip - travel. lifts pivot (right). less obvious than first clip Walter Lum - travel. lifts pivot (left) before releasing the ball Simon Enciso - travel. clip starts with right foot in the air so the left is pivot. lifts left before releasing the ball James Chun - travel. lifts pivot (left) before releasing the ball Devin Williams - travel. lifts pivot (left) before releasing the ball Filayyyy - travel. lifts pivot (left) before releasing the ball Talen Horton-Tucker - travel. lifts pivot (left) before releasing the ball Devin Williams - travel. lifts pivot (left) before releasing the ball Reggie Miller - travel. lifts pivot (left) before releasing the ball Paolo Banchero - travel. lifts pivot (right) before releasing the ball James Chun - travel. lifts pivot (left) before releasing the ball Austin Rivers - travel. lifts pivot (left) before releasing the ball Austin Rivers next clip - travel. lifts pivot (left) before releasing the ball Austin Rivers next clip - travel. lifts pivot (left) before releasing the ball Austin Rivers next clip - travel. lifts pivot (left) before releasing the ball James Chun - travel. lifts pivot (left) before releasing the ball James Chun - travel. lifts pivot (left) before releasing the ball Jeb Ivery - travel. lifts pivot (left) before releasing the ball Reggie Miller - travel Grant Riller - legal. hard angle but looks like ball is released in time before pivot is lifted unknown kid in white - travel. lifts pivot (left) before releasing the ball Jeb Ivey - travel. close to being legal, but still travel unknown kid in blue shorts - travel i could go on, but i dont see improvements in these clips
You're not wrong - but then again every single rip strongside out of the triple threat is a travel. But nobody would play or watch the game if the refs called that and whistled 50+ travels every game.
If you're really selling the weight shift after the Jab, you can still perform this move effectively by just pushing out the ball with an onside dribbling, before you lift the back foot. It's not as quick obviously, but if your defender jumped the other way it should still do the trick
In your opinion - which player did it the best?
jimmy butler
Reggie Miller
Jimmy G buckets
MJ and Shimmy Butler
James harden

Love your channel. Even though I do most of these moves you help me break down the reasoning behind why I do it and the best situations to use them.
This channel hella underrated. Content straight fire🔥
Thank you - and a whole lot of more 🔥 on the way!
as always amazing video: pro tip, if you subtly travel during this move it makes it THAT much more effective
Hi from Perú. Dude your videos are at another level.
Gonna start working on this more .. need to start easily getting past my defenders
Ima be soooo good one day and that’s all gonna be cuz of this channel. Thx so much coach frikki
Need to know how to decide which moves to do in which situation
That's really something that comes with experience. Playing and studying a lot of basketball. But I'll touch on it more in future videos.
Play a lot of one on ones
5 hours of basketball everyday and yeah he's right more on 1 on 1 or 3 on 3
didnt know you play basketball bro

every single time I've done this in my rec league I've been called for a travel, I swear those refs are the most cruel
Yeah, it is very hard to make it clean. But it is possible.😅
You're right. Even in most of the clips in this video it's a travel.

Be careful of traveling. The ball must touch the floor before you pick up your pivot foot.
Actaully once the ball is not on your hand anymore u can lift up the pivot foot for the drive 😅

it depends if you get your hand above the ball before you lift that back/pivot foot. but yes a good amount of these are travels unfortunately.
