Drive right...0:51 travel? 0:57 travel? 1:00 travel?! Each of them lifted their pivot foot before releasing the ball...exactly as at 1:54 and 2:00 Did I get something wrong? p.s. this channel is a gem!
Yes, I've heard it from you many times before : ) but I don't get the point then - "drive right" is very effective in many ways but it can be travel...or may not...depends on refs...and not fair to a defender. Thanks for the answer!
You can jab backwards if you’re faking going over a screen Edit: I see he covered that in “rejecting screens” Good video. I KOd somebody at LA Fitness today with the rocker step for game point
Watching your videos is like watching Madden comentate football "wow he took the ball and threw it to the other guy, what a play". If you have never played, never watched or even know what basketball is then this video is for you.
Out of 4000+ comments I've gotten on this channel this is the 1st negative one! I agree that this and the lateral glide one are pretty basic. Nothing wrong with the basics, lot of beginners out there. I have made more detailed videos on more complex subjects. On the offarm, fake handoff, PnR reads. And planning to more as well.
Thanks for making a lot of vids that I learned a lot of moves that are useful from like the rocker step. Can you do a video on how to deal with defenders bigger than you who like to bump into you, reach, and are also quick? I would really appreciate it
No secret ways to to scoring against great defenders. Just gotta get quicker, stronger, better handles, better at reading the defense. And being more of a shoot threat always helps. Just gotta put yourself in those situations again and again, 1v1 vs the best defenders you know and learn how to adapt.
Frikki, I like the Rocker Step a lot and use it often. Austin Rivers has a great one. The one thing I keep seeing though is that it's very easy to travel on it. Even some clips like Paulo Banchero @ 3:39 and D'Vontay Friga @ 3:45 is a clear travel. Any tips on how to avoid travelling on the Rocker Step?
It's a remix of Thelanius Monk's jazz song "Ruby, My Dear". Don't know what the version is called. Found it a few years ago when I searched for background music. Here is a clean audio on one of my old videos: th-cam.com/video/K211eHk1wRg/w-d-xo.html
Is it worth it to develop a left foot jab as a right handed player? Because sometimes I’m curling off a screen and step right-left, but I’m very uncomfortable in the triple threat after that.
I personally don't think so. There are so few situations where it makes sense. Players at 1:24, 1:27, 4:42 and 5:35 made it work though. Gonna cover the permanent pivot debate in a video soon.
Hey coach, i have a question. Is it a good time to steal the ball when defender tries to go past you and go you just go into the ball trying to poke it?
Going for steals is always risky, gotta be really skilled at doing it and pick the right moments. Doing it when he tries to go past you is a high risk high reward move. He'll probably expose it more than normally but if your reach fails then he's got a layup.
@@user-up8jj4wj4i Nope because it's the most inefficient shot in the game. NBA players shoot it barely above 40%. I've made 96 videos on my channel. Only midranges were in the snatch back ankle breaker video, couldn't leave out highlights haha.
In the rulebook, yes. In action, rarely called. Link me to a Euroleague game of your choice and I'll find 50 uncalled travels of players driving to the same side they jabbed.
It's similar. Players in this video were jabbing sideways backwards with a ball/fake to shift the defender the wrong direction. A pure negative step is bouncing that foot straight backwards for maximum explosion, no fake needed.
new to basketball, aren't all of these clips double dribble? I thought you weren't allowed to hold the ball with two hands unless you were going to shoot?
@@hussein6173 wdym it literally says triple threat mastery at the bottom with an example of kyrie irving, and don't compare kyrie to Melo that's just disrespectful to a real artist

hey coach frikki. criminally underrated videos. please more great content
Thanks Book, you're doing well too.
The jab step is sooo slept on. I’ve shifted countless defenders with this move alone.
Triple Threat as a whole is slept on
People don’t fall for mines 😂
always appreciate the mixture of examples from NBA, euro, college, HS, women's, street, etc.

Spot on - these are all technically travels. But refs let it slide because otherwise the game would be unwatchable.

what if my left foot didn’t lift but just slide a bit.
game in 2 hours. been called travels a lot as a pro in my new league. gonna focus on jabbing sideways as the jab has always been my go-to. thank you
Love it! I have improved my game so much since I started watching your videos. Have to add this to my skill set ASAP.

Don' lift or drag your pivot, then you should be good.
Please do a breakdown on some post moves like skyhook
I love when you use examples of very unknown players 😂😂😂

Agreed, that was the point of putting the clip there. If you jab forwards you will likely travel.
