    MENTAL HEALTH IS IMPORTANT SIR AND YOU'RE RUNNING YOURSELF RAGGED. When I became a new dad there was immense pressure to be loving doting parent. My wife struggled with depression, the baby would not settle, I had started to drink and eat in secret to stay out of the house. After years of struggle my wife got help from the Doctor but there isn't the same help for dad's. One day on the way home from work I had to park on the hard shoulder because I realised I was in tears, sobbing and was ready to either deliberately crash into a lorry or keep driving to anywhere but home. Don't let yourself get like that. It's OK to not be OK and ask for help. Don't stress about missing a TH-cam upload or few. You're a parent for the long haul. Look after yourself so you can look after Jo and Harvey. The rest doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

      I am so sorry you went through that terrible time. It's true, there's no help for men. The help for women isn't all it's cracked up to be either. I had terrible postnatal depression, after having an emergency c section at 32 weeks which almost caused myself and my son to die. My "care" consisted of being given a tonne of medication and being told by the psychiatrist that, "if I hurt myself it would ruin my child's life." All that did was make me feel extremely guilty for being depressed. I did eventually recover but I did it on my own. Sadly, thirteen years on my son has developed depression and anxiety, getting him help has been like getting blood out of a stone. He's been so unwell he is unable to attend school and yet he has been waiting for counselling since last April. The system is broken. 😢

    One of the first desires I remember you making years ago on TH-cam, was getting a Ford Ranger. With the pressure of the dairy overhaul and other projects, its a delight to see you in a position to do something for yourself and your growing family. As for the colour you really want: getting it wrapped is not that expensive these days. (it would look great murdered out in satin black!) ... Oh yes... And some "All-terrain" rubber! 🤣

    Tom, if you're worried about mileage then remember if you are on the road be in 2-wheel drive, it will save you some fuel and you will not crow walk when you are doing tight turns and maneuvers. Also, those tires are road tires meant for asphalt and concrete, not mud even with 4-wheel drive the tires are the weak point. Get larger diameter mudders and you will be much happier, don't go crazy with some ultimate off-road tires for use in the Dakar rally. FYI, 19mpg in the city is normal along with 24 mpg on the highway. Have fun with the new to you truck.

    First off, love and hugs for Jo, I hope she gets better soon. I can remember how long you’ve been after a pick up, so pleased you’ve finally made another dream come true. A handy tip for improving fuel consumption is TURN THE @#%! ENGINE OFF once in a while! I’ve noticed loads of times in your videos you and your dad are chatting or you’re talking to camera and there’s a tractor chugging away in the background burning your profits doing nothing 😂. That aside, have loads of fun with the well cool pickup.

    Weather tech floor mats are the best at containing muck and mire off your feet. All terrain tires are a must if you are in the fields at all. A reversing camera is helpful if it doesn't already have one. Weirdly, a nice steering wheel cover is super helpful with grip. I drove a Chevy Avalanche for 10 years, and I'd have killed for 16 mpg. I usually got 12. Best wishes to you and the fam. Hope everyone recovers quickly and without long term problems.

    Get rid of the roof rack and invest in a good set of all-terrain tires. Unfortunately, all terrains will go the wrong way on fuel mileage, but if you're going to be driving around in the muck, you'll need something that digs. Either that or get a winch bumper and winch. That will help a lot on the farm.

      @@722garage9 ford can't change the tires because then their fuel economy numbers will be way out worse than they state, and I think dealers just don't want to have to trade the set they take off if they even take the original set back. I had a friend that got stuck with the city tires when he got the dealer to change and only got the standard discount on buying 4 tires at one time. I'm sure there is good dealers that work with the customer in the UK just not heard of many

    Congratulations 🎊 you finally got one!
    Unfortunately, yes it came with road tires, and your going to need all-terrain tires at a Minimum for farm compatible use. How aggressive or full mud tires is up to you. The other consideration is a air compressor, and a set of deflators (I got some deflators the other day for under $50 usd), so you can drop your tire pressure for off roading and then air it back up to rip down the road. Your choice of course but helps make it more effective.
    I had a 1986 ranger-gasoline/petrol, and it did 18-19 mpg local and the highest I ever achieved was 21 highway...
    I recently got a 2012 ford escape, and it takes a couple tanks of fuel before the average fuel economy displays what I would expect to be relatively accurate numbers, so don't lose hope right after you reset it...

  • @zstation64
    @zstation64 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Best thing you could do with that truck is a decent set of tyres, BF Goodrich Trail-Terrain or All-Terrain or similar. Those road tyres are a dead loss (as demonstrated). Expensive, but you'll not get stuck, and they last forever.

  • @DaveRogers1985

    The Ranger is a nice little truck. Its got street tires on it, not good for muddin'. Now you know it can get stuck like every other street car, go find some traction mats, think about putting a winch on the front. I wouldn't suggest getting a larger American pickup with y'alls narrow roads and short parking trays, the things really don't fit over here except out west.

    Switch the parking sensor off. Put in reverse, press button, stops the sound when reversing but resets when moved out of reverse. You'll love the 3.2 when towing a full trailer or a couple of cows and get it out of first gear .. to save juice. Also make sure it doesn't have road tyres to make use of the 4x4..something in-between for comfort. Chunky tyres too noisy. Mpg pretty decent when on a long run but going round the yard will keep the average low

    Nice, I've had a 66reg wildtrak for past 4yrs, absolute beast.
    Put some Radar Renegade RT+ on and you won't get stuck also get the oil pump changed for a geared one rather than the awful vane pump.

    If you have a look just past the gear stick there should be a button with the letter P on it. It's to do with the parking sensors, push that button and it disables the sensors. Will stop that beeping when reversing.

      @madman123287 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When ya finished with reversing remember to turn it back on, just push the button again. (No need to hold the button in)

    Glad Jo is better. Suggest you get better tyres for off road. Those tyres are good for road use primarily and you need something that is good on both off and on road

    You are never going to get a vehicle that can do everything but the Ranger looks very capable. You get some decent seat covers and matts for her. Surely you can write some of the fuel/deprecation off on the tax. You deserve it. Best wishes to Joanna.

    Well done, good price! I had a '15 2.2litre, fuel wasn't too bad and towed a full horse box & full trailers like a dream. My only gripe, is they are now too high, getting in & out, unloading & loading and access to the load bay is a chore after a few months. (I'm 5'11" so not a real shorty) otherwise brilliant bit of kit, certainly never got it stuck and I tried!!.. 😊

    The 3.2 is a 5 cylinder, look up PAC tuning for a remap and you'll get 3-5mpg back easily plus a good bit more hp + torque.

    You Don't Have A Choice, you definitely need the best available, more appropriate tyres for your intended application.

    You dont want a dark color because it shows the scratches more, silver has a higher sale value and desiel likes to run hot will use more cold. Also you need to run it so the turbo kicks in, if you run it to soft turbo will kick in later

    Hi Tom. Can I suggest you simply change the tyres for a more off road biased tread. My suggestion, and go to tyre would be the Cooper discoverer stt pro. They are also kevlar lined which massively helps against punctures.
    Best wishes to Jo and Harvey

    Health to drive Tom. Two things I'll say a Ranger owner myself is get yourself some All Terrain tyres as those ones look like normal road tyres. I run Toyo Open Country AT but everyone will have their own opinion. Second is don't run 4wd on anything other than the conditions you got stuck in or heavy snow/ice as the front diff is a permanently locked diff so when you engage 4wd on normal road conditions you'll feel the front "jerk" as if your on and off the throttle really fast when turning corners which isn't good for the truck

    Weather Tech mats. Word of advice from my Dad years ago. 2 wheel drive is what you use. 4 wheel drive is for after you are stuck. 4Lo is for pulling stumps. Love to whole family. Get well and take care of yourself.

    We also have those in South Africa, and what we do to keep it abit neater is to get bucket car mats. It’s rubber and has a lip around it that keeps all the dirt inside the mat and not on your car carpet. Try it out!

    The 3.2l Ranger is an inline 5 cylinder. I daily mine around the city and sit on 8.4l/100km. Not sure what that converts to but it's pretty good for it's weight and shape i think
