    "I almost wish we were butterflies and liv'd but three summer days - three such days with you I could fill with more delight than fifty common years could ever contain."
    These two lines pretty much sum up the time that Keats and Fanny had together: little more than two short years, but lived with an intensity of passion surpassing that which is felt by many in the course of their entire lives.

      Amen. It’s almost painful to think it exists. Can scare some. Others it would sadden. Such a state would be a privilege.
      God rest

    Keats : I almost wish we were butterflies...
    Brawne : I caught butterflies!
    Love the the way they think differently, it makes the movie entertaining and beautiful at the same time :D

    I could watch it again and again if I weren't a poor student. It's so beautiful I think you need to watch it many times to appreciate all of the details.

    Lovely story, beauty in every scene, everything is touching our souls. Jane Campion is my best filmmaker ! Thank you, Miss Campion, for this and for The Piano. I am Amelia, an old granny from Argentina. Hugs! (I loved everyone, "Fannny", her "mother and family", and "John Keats", of course).

    What is your interpretation for the presence of the butterflies?
    I was thinking they might symbolize a sort of "Mono no aware": while their eclosion in the jars runs in parallel with Fanny's feelings that seem to take flight in this scene, some butterflies show some sort of decay, a sign of vivid but ephemeral beauty that is reminiscent of John Keats' death at a young age.

    The inferrences you make are very common themes in art at that time.
    Read the Biography on Fanny Brawne :)
    The fact that she's a female and interested in science is eccentric (then) and intelligent, which is why Keats loved her and was intrigued.I think this scene is to show her lively yet sheltered innocence,self-posessed but childlike, which also soothed his wounds.I think the gently underscored symbolism is a nod to the times, common of Campion's period-engrossing style.

    Watching the movie I felt like, I was the reincarnation of one of them. Now that I have that sort of relationship with someone now, I just hope neither one of us dies a horrible death XD;;;

    Where is this actress from? Her accent falls into somewhere other than English in this scene.
