I think the reason the dark brotherhood didn't attack back was because Doug didn't actually attack Astrid, so when he entered the sanctuary the game thought that he was doing the normal questline and then proceeded to skyrim itself so that they didn't care about dying
I thought it was cause doug was wearing astrid's armor
I thought it was because so many entities were spawned in game it made the AIs crash
yeah probably something to do with AI scripting. Since doug never personally attacked astrid, he never hit the "enemies with DB" trigger or whatever so the game saw him walk in without astrid's blood on his hands and said "ah okay so we're supposed to be friends here.." followed by a very confused "wait, what's going on again?"
@@beelzebub7221 not so sure about this, I would think their aggro would be triggered by the quest itself, as in, he was doing the destroy the DB quest, so it should aggro them. Astrid dying in the shack triggers that quest regardless of how she dies. I think it's more likely that the AI was bugged bc of how many entities had been spawned.

for those wondering why the dark brotherhood was not attacking him, he didn't hit astrid so they never turned hostile to him. I was doing the dark brotherhood with only illusion magic and i had to frenzy astrid to kill the hostages at the start, which counted as hitting her and made the dark brotherhood attack me when i arrived to the hideout so doug just happened along the easy way to kill them all.
So it was, in fact, RIGGED
