This is the ONLY video that correctly shows how to upgrade this platform in INSTALL MODE. I dont understand why many 9300 series upgrade videos on youtube falsely claim to run Install mode but are actually running Bundle mode with the 'Request Platform command'. Bravo Rana
@@Advance_Technology_by_Rana Oh great! I just did an IOS upgrade from 17.3.3 to 17.6.5 to a 5 and 6 stack 9300s. Was looking for a video for more clarification and happened on your video. I wanted the security of a rollback which the Install Mode offers to those stacks which I found was not gon work if you go the Bundle route. Found out the hard way on a single 9300. Had to reload it with a 17.3.3 bin afterwards.
followed the exact procedure, on the end I still have the same software version 9200 24P 17.03.05 boot: attempting to boot from [flash:packages.conf] boot: reading file packages.conf
"No boot manual" to tell the switch to boot automatically. However, this command is optional, and you can skip it. I hope I have cleared up your doubt. 😎👍😎
So very well explained. Thank you. Just a small doubt. l upgraded the IOS of 1 switch first and after that added another switch in stack without upgrading its IOS. So, will this new IOS get activated on the 2nd switch as well? Or is it that both should be in stack first and then upgrade the IOS of 1 switch and it will get activated on the other members?
@@ITnetwork5 there is no rollback of firmware in catalyst switches. Rollback only available in Nexus Family. Yes, there is a way to go back to previous version. First of all. All stack switches supposed to be same model and same IOS. Cross check the IOS and model. In case it’s same model and IOS then open case with Cisco to check the hardware issue. Send Cisco SHOW TECH to find the issue. Further, Stacking is not supported on switches running the LAN Lite image.
Hello Hana! I want to perform an upgrade on a Catalyst 9300 currently on version 16.09.03 and ROMMON in version 16.9.1r, i want to upgrade the switch to version Cupertino-17.9.5 My question is, can i perform the upgrade in one step, or should i upgrade to an intermediate version first? And also, do i need to upgrade the ROMMON version as well?
Hi, can you please explain, how we can do the upgrade, if I save the .bin file in a folder in flash please? Actually our client has already upgraded the IOS from a folder in flash, and I need to upgrade it further , copying the IOS into the same folder in the flash. Would it be possible to do it from the same folder that is in the flash? Do I copy the new IOS into this folder and then carry on?Appreciate it if you can guide me. Thank you.
How i can rest the boot variable to flash:packages.conf because in my switch it comes like this BOOT variable = flash:packages.conf;flash:cat9k_lite_iosxe.17.06.04.SPA.bin; please help me

Fantastic video and helped clear up a lot of questions I had reviewing other upgrade guides posted by Cisco.
Appreciate your feedback ✌️😁✌️
The way you explain things is brilliant, not time consuming and to the point. Do you have the upgrade procedure for ASR 920 via USB please?
No I don’t have for ASR 920 but I uploaded for ASR 1002 router in play list.

It was a great video. But I have doubt why you gave a command no boot manual is this necessary?

I never tried your scenario. But it will it built the stack properly since iOS version is different on both switches.

Do we have to change back any of the boot options or anything we changed after the upgrade?
No need to change any option.
